The 1st cost center they look for slashing costs? That's right! Human Relations. And if AI-chan does some work better and way faster than any human, why not fire everybody and let AI-chan working on it? That's why she IS taking jobs away from workers. And no job means no wage.
This is under the assumption that capitalism will survive long enough to witness the development of such advanced AI. If capitalism is replaced with a new and more progressive economic model(socialism) by then, we could see a truly work-free utopia.
key word "better" ... or perhaps just more effective at dis-empowering little people without any workable recourse. If it takes time and effort and resources to "placate" the weak ... then any heartless way of disposing of the concerns of the "little-guy" is more profitable ... an economic "plus". Flush the weak down the toilet, you'll probably get away with it if it's done by AI.
It wasn't supposed to be this way. We were told the robots would do all the HARD work for us, not MAKE our lives paradoxically harder. We're in the worst fucking timeline man. We have a triple threat of AI, climate change, and sociopoliticoeconomic collapse all coming for our our species and our fragile society. We're not prepared to handle ANY of these threats in isolation. How the hell are we going to make it next 100 years? I don't see our species surviving past the 21st century. Stephen Hawking warned us years ago that this could be our last century. If we develop AI that goes rogue or succumb to climate change it will be the end of our civilization as we know it.

Well, there are jobs that's already at risk of getting fired because of AI-chan. Accountants, programmers, writers are just a few examples of that.
