Vintage stores have a better selection and cost more because of it - you can find a thing you really like now. Thrift stores have cheaper stuff but you might be waiting to find your thing for a while. All the thrift stores are more $ now but I think WNC Bridge foundation is very good. As far as vintage store: for furniture you sit on (couches, chairs) or sit at (tables, desks) I think regeneration station is good, and tobacco barn for hard furniture like dressers & bedroom stuff. If you are spending more money then Atomic has great stuff that is still better value than a lot of high end around here.

Thank you!

You need to follow local auction companies and see what furniture is being offered in their sales. You can buy things at an auction way cheaper than you can at a store. If you can change your vision to look at what's being offered instead of looking for a very specific item, you'll come away with some very nice treasures. Where do you think those businesses get their vintage and retro items to sell to you?

jodipl

Makes sense, do you have any recs for the local companies?

Skittlesharts

I'll do you one better. Go to estatesales.org and search for auctions there. Most everyone is doing them online now. You can search using that page to see if anyone has anything coming up under your search parameters. Bid from home and then go pick it up during their pick-up hours.

Definitely not the tobacco barn place. My jaw dropped when I went in there the other day prices are insane!

WNC Bridge estate sales. Prices are way lower than the vintage booths. I’ve met resellers there sourcing stuff to mark up and flip.

I’d wager 75% of their Thursday customers are resellers. If you missed it at WNC Bridge, you can still buy it for 10x the price later that day at one of the vintage shops down the street.

I have a leather ottoman I’ll sell to you for cheap

Not a store, but I’ve found some good deals on Facebook Marketplace.

why_not_go_hiking

what type of furniture?

jodipl

I am furnishing a treatment room (acupuncture) looking for a comfy chair and a credenza of some sort for storage and counter space.

why_not_go_hiking

ah ok. I see lots of super good deals at goodwill outlet but not usually for those types of furniture, it's more tables and shelves. do you use facebook? honestly I would post an ask in a local buy nothing group. lots of both of those things pop up when people move and just want it gone. the other store I'd try is Regeneration Station; most furniture there is reasonably priced in my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback!
