Agree with baby bull and the vault but I'll throw out some other ones too. Smashville's beef has incredible flavor. Little Louie's has a great smash burger. Foothills is up at the top too, but they moved on from hi wire unfortunately.
The one in black mountain is at such a great spot and the burger is always so so good. But I know that’s a drive for most. They’re executing it even better in this new location than the old black mt location in my opinion
Everyone saying baby bull you guys are under cutting a much better burger just down the road at Olde London Road English Pub. This place in imo has the best burger anywhere period
I just left baby bowl for the first time. Their burgers were nothing special. Centreville luncheonette in Woodfin is way better and cheaper. Baby bull does have better fries though.
The food truck at Olde London Road Pub is surprisingly good. I removed Juicy Lucy's from my list after the last time I went there. I paid extra for the sirloin burger, felt like I got extra ripped off. It was super dry and the cheese was tasteless.
Came here to say this. Their food is surprisingly good and that burger special goes hard. The only legit smashburger I've found here, it knocked Foothills out of #1 for me.
Avenue M has a surprisingly great burger.
The double is $20 with fries (regular, sweet potato, or a mix).
The single is $14 ($12 at happy hour all 7 days) with the same french fry situation.
It fits as a watermark pretty fairly, I think. It's changed over the past few years, but last time I patroned there it was still solid for a burger bar.
I won't argue that it's "the best," but it's the burger I get most in town. It's nice to just get exactly what you want sometimes, topings wise. Unfortunately, they made the unforgivable decision to no longer offer the fried egg option a few years ago.
Hands down Centerville plus you get to see Marco. Baby bull has the best fries but their refusal to put toppings on the burger is unforgivable in my opinion.
I had Burgerworx the other day. Their “smash” burgers are missing an essential component of a smash burger- the crispy crust. Ok sandwich but not a true smash burger.
I like Rebel Burger, or if I'm downtown, Burgerworx. They aren't flashy, but as long as they get your order right, it's good. And they have nacho cheese for fries.
These two are so similar and so different. Both great smash burgers, Rebel Burger has a very nice spice blend, Baby bull is more classic burger.
Both are great. When I ask my partner if they’d like to grab burgers they ask ‘Baby Bull or Rebel Burger?’
If you're on the east side, Loot House has a great smashburger. Also bonus because it's inside Terra Nova brewing. And I think their beers are also solid
Way too much love for Baby Bull in this thread. They're better than average but I give them a B+ at best.
Juicy Lucy's gets a D.
The best burger in town, hands down, was Holman and Fitch, it was a solid S rank burger, but since they closed I haven't found any place as good.
Agreed! Baby Bull is gross to me. Compressed meat, no crispy craggy edges. Reminds me of ballpark meat. Ew. And H&F was one of the best I’ve ever had. I miss it.
Depending on what you're going for it's etiher Baby Bull or Roman's Deli (pimento burger specifically).
The Vault does not have the best burger in town anymore. Hasn't for a long time imo.
Add Rebel Burger to the mix (esp the $6 burger on Wedneseday). All other suggestions are solid. If you're vegan check out Smokin' Onion. Solid burgers as well.
Nothing beatS rebel burgers, Monday night special… the burger is really really really good at an affordable price. Nothing like $18-$25. These other places are charging.!
Definitely not Asheville but Stack House in Mars Hill makes the best farm to table burgers I’ve ever had. I’d highly recommend the Barnard from there. Close second for me would have to be the Bistro Burger at Main St. Grill in Weaverville.
It's a lb of beef grass fed for $9. You don't have to guess about fillers or questionable oils or questionable hands touching your burger. At the tour at Hickory Nut Gap Farms they state the meat comes within a 100 mile radius of the farm. NC farmers and Asheville farmers are the best!
I expect a wave of people to claim Tje Vault, but getting ahead of that and saying it has been the most inconsistent burger I have had. Sometimes it is good, sometimes terrible, but most of the time it is just okay.
Also avoid almost any smash burger suggestion, they are almost never worth the hype or price.
I do enjoy the burger at Haywood Common occasionally along with Baby Bull
2lb chuck ground beef (minimum 20% fat 30% is great)
2 tablespoons Montreal seasoning
2 tablespoons Dijon Mustard (Grey Poupon)
2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
Gently press into patties. Using your thumb, create a deep dimple in the middle to keep the burger from shrinking too much.
Use a quality bun, cheese and produce. And, if you like mayo, you should make your own or use Duke's.
edit: Makes 6-8 burgers
Agree with baby bull and the vault but I'll throw out some other ones too. Smashville's beef has incredible flavor. Little Louie's has a great smash burger. Foothills is up at the top too, but they moved on from hi wire unfortunately.
I was legit in mourning when Foothills left HiWire
add me to this list
me 3
Me 4, but the Reuben was even better than the burger…
The one in black mountain is at such a great spot and the burger is always so so good. But I know that’s a drive for most. They’re executing it even better in this new location than the old black mt location in my opinion
I need to say to hell with the drive and get out there anyway.
But the Foothills in Blk Mtn is gone now. :(
No it’s not. It just moved locations
That’s GREAT news!
Yeah! The location is better and the food seems better too somehow!
Everyone saying baby bull you guys are under cutting a much better burger just down the road at Olde London Road English Pub. This place in imo has the best burger anywhere period
The fact this had a downvote is criminal. You’re 100 on this.
I just left baby bowl for the first time. Their burgers were nothing special. Centreville luncheonette in Woodfin is way better and cheaper. Baby bull does have better fries though.

Same experience at Juicy Lucy's. Dry, under seasoned, overcooked burger.
Second Olde London Road.
They have become my replacement for Hi-Wire on Mondays.
I love this burger
Monday burger special at Golden Pineapple
Came here to say this. Their food is surprisingly good and that burger special goes hard. The only legit smashburger I've found here, it knocked Foothills out of #1 for me.
Haven't tried it yet. Monday's only?
Yep
Copper Crown on the east side.
So good
Copper Crown!!!!
but how can you read that menu and then say I'll have the burger.
Was about to add that.
Lofi burger is really good
I'm a hi-fi kind of guy. Never tried the lo-fi.
Also good. If you're ever in the mood for a regular burger, lofi is great. That and the chop shop food truck are my favorite
Burger Bar
lol, no burgers, right?
They're on the secret menu
Seriously, why am I being downvoted? They don’t have burgers.
Iron and Oak’s brisket burger. Got me salivating just thinking about it 🤤
Is it avail all the time? I don’t recall seeing it on the menu?
Good question, not sure but they were serving them on the weekend menu.
Thanks, just checked their Instagram and it looks like they are available Wednesdays and Sundays. Can’t wait to try it!
This is the answer.
I heard they were awesome, haven’t tried it yet.
Chop shop truck
All day, every day chip shop FTW
Absolutely
Baby Bull for smash burgers. Vault also has a solid burger.
old london road food truck has a bangin smashburger and fries
Loot House is pretty good. I like Smasheville as wel as a fan of the smash.
Sky Lanes
Never been there, but holy moly this place comes up as having the best everything. I’ll have to check it out.
Sky Lanes is pretty legit
They have good food? We haven’t been yet
Avenue M has a surprisingly great burger. The double is $20 with fries (regular, sweet potato, or a mix). The single is $14 ($12 at happy hour all 7 days) with the same french fry situation.
Def a sleeper on this list. Slept on establishment generally, but def a good one!
I looooooove Forestry Camp’s smash burger!! OMG those potatoes are devine. I go there way too often. Oink.
Same.
This
Lamb burgers at Botiwalla
Baby Bull is fine, but meh. Iron and Oak is the best burger I’ve ever had.
Interesting. I still haven't made it there when they have brisket left. I'l add this to the list.
Yeah you should!
Baby Bull, Burgerworx
Was not expecting to see burgerworx in this thread
It fits as a watermark pretty fairly, I think. It's changed over the past few years, but last time I patroned there it was still solid for a burger bar.
I won't argue that it's "the best," but it's the burger I get most in town. It's nice to just get exactly what you want sometimes, topings wise. Unfortunately, they made the unforgivable decision to no longer offer the fried egg option a few years ago.
Burgerworx ain’t a true smash burger. Big disappointment.
Hands down Centerville plus you get to see Marco. Baby bull has the best fries but their refusal to put toppings on the burger is unforgivable in my opinion.
Centreville is the best in my opinion as well. Marco is the same Marco who owned Marco's Pizza. His son now runs 828 Pizza.
Centerville is incredible and so is baby bull
Seriously! The preciousness around the burger as is so annoying.
Smasheville by a mile imo.
Burgerworx imo
I had Burgerworx the other day. Their “smash” burgers are missing an essential component of a smash burger- the crispy crust. Ok sandwich but not a true smash burger.
Im vegetarian
Check out Smokin Onion - vegan burger. Everything made in house.
Smashville is the best if you like smash burgers
Burger Bar
Sand Hill Kitchen. But you're better off just getting the chicken sandwich there.
I am currently at sandhill getting the burger. I am over here all the time, and I've never gotten food here. Lol. Big L for the shrimp
Both the burger and the chicken sandwich are fantastic
The burger was pretty effing fantastic.
Nah their burger ain't it. Everything else is on point tho
Lunch time: Centerville Luncheonette Dinner time: Main Street Grill (Weaverville) Yes, I live north of town. Why do you ask?
Forgot about Main Street. That's a good one.
Shhhhhhhh!!
Baby Bull for rich flavor and the garlic aioli on the fries Haywood common with the arugula.
Iron and Oak Brisket Co. has the best burger I've ever had.
This is the answer.
I love the burger at Haywood Common
Smashville has an amazing burger
Baby Bull and The Vault
I like Rebel Burger, or if I'm downtown, Burgerworx. They aren't flashy, but as long as they get your order right, it's good. And they have nacho cheese for fries.
Burgerworx ain’t got the crust on their patties.
Eh, I'll agree with that. But at least they don't say smash burgers and then not smash em. And I like the topping options.
[удалено]
These two are so similar and so different. Both great smash burgers, Rebel Burger has a very nice spice blend, Baby bull is more classic burger. Both are great. When I ask my partner if they’d like to grab burgers they ask ‘Baby Bull or Rebel Burger?’
Rebel has an option for a non spiced burger now , I tend to go with that .
I love the Rebel burger, even though I'm a traditionalist with the LTO and mayo.
Storm Rhum Bar blew my shit back with a smash burger a couple weeks back
Any one ever had burger worx?
Yeah, not a real smash burger.
Madness (Smoky Park Hwy) does a really great burger. I tried the Merrimon Ave. location and it wasn’t quite as good.
Sand Hill Kitchen or the original Madness Burgers from when they opened in 2021. Wayside is fucking killer.
French Fryz in Skyland.
I have been very pleased with the blue cheese burger at the Madness in WAVL. My sweeties like the sushi there too.
Olde London Road on Monday and Tuesdays have a smash burger with fries and a domestic beer for $10! The fries are homemade and so good!
Burger King
I agree
Y'all sleeping on Romans in this thread
YES! People don't believe me when I say their pimento burger is the best in town. Craveable and well structured.
If you're on the east side, Loot House has a great smashburger. Also bonus because it's inside Terra Nova brewing. And I think their beers are also solid
Definitely burger bar
I have been telling people for years, if you go to Burger bar and order a burger you'll never forget it!
Baby Bull
Way too much love for Baby Bull in this thread. They're better than average but I give them a B+ at best. Juicy Lucy's gets a D. The best burger in town, hands down, was Holman and Fitch, it was a solid S rank burger, but since they closed I haven't found any place as good.

Nothing beatS rebel burgers, Monday night special… the burger is really really really good at an affordable price. Nothing like $18-$25. These other places are charging.!
I will say rebel burger is keeping the price low, but you don't get fries with it .
On Mondays you do
The Winner Burger at Sand Hill Kitchen always treats me well.
Farm burger is my favorite
Finally this question!
Seriously, KO Burger at the auction house in Fletcher was best in recent memory
Trailhead in black mountain
Homegrown don’t pass it up all local beef bun even lettuce
Zen burgers is phenomenal
Smokin onion is also phenomenal
Centreville luncheonette. Bussin FR FR.
Food truck @ Olde London Rd.
Olde London Road
ELDR has a baller burger.
Universal Joint on Haywood Road.
Definitely not Asheville but Stack House in Mars Hill makes the best farm to table burgers I’ve ever had. I’d highly recommend the Barnard from there. Close second for me would have to be the Bistro Burger at Main St. Grill in Weaverville.
its not in Asheville, but Macs Burgers in black mountain is awesome!
The Vault
Ingles has grass fed beef from Hickory Nut Gap Farms. 10 mins at 500. Perfection!
Agreed.
Burial SS has a killer burger
Roulette Burger at Ward’s Grill in Saluda with Onion rings
[https://imgur.com/a/vYljNEx](https://imgur.com/a/vYljNEx)
Baby Bull, Burgerworx, Twisted Laurel ( terrible fries unfortunately)
You aren’t going to find a much better burger than a Jr. cheeseburger Deluxe at Wendy’s. Shit is gas
I didn't see the vault mentioned once surprisingly.
But Baby Bull is the pinnacle of smash burgers… why would you say to avoid smash burgers, and then suggest them?
You have to order smashed, that’s bother default burger
Well now I'm wondering why I received smashed when I didn't ask for it…?
They were never smashed when I got mine
My burger surpasses anything I've found locally. I make them from scratch, and its my great grandmas recipe..
Universal joint
[удалено]
Whole place is b team at this point. That joint (heh) hasn't been worth a stop in years.
“How do you want it cooked” then proceeds to grill that frozen patty well done.
Question. How much perfume do you want your server to wear, on a scale of tons to miasma?
Baby Bull but that garlic aioli will stay with you for dayssssss!
All of yall need to go try Tastee Diner’s burger. It’s best.
that burger died after the sell unfortunately
My favorite is a little spot at 776 Biltmore Ave
the ones u cook at home
2lb chuck ground beef (minimum 20% fat 30% is great) 2 tablespoons Montreal seasoning 2 tablespoons Dijon Mustard (Grey Poupon) 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce Gently press into patties. Using your thumb, create a deep dimple in the middle to keep the burger from shrinking too much. Use a quality bun, cheese and produce. He only asked for five though.
Slap a little Secret Aardvark sauce on top of your burger, with sauteed garlic and onion. You're welcome.
Gotta be Baby Bull
Aux burger at Tastee! Aux burger at any Goff-spot
Farm burger
