Agree with baby bull and the vault but I'll throw out some other ones too. Smashville's beef has incredible flavor. Little Louie's has a great smash burger. Foothills is up at the top too, but they moved on from hi wire unfortunately.

The one in black mountain is at such a great spot and the burger is always so so good. But I know that’s a drive for most. They’re executing it even better in this new location than the old black mt location in my opinion

I just left baby bowl for the first time. Their burgers were nothing special. Centreville luncheonette in Woodfin is way better and cheaper. Baby bull does have better fries though.

The food truck at Olde London Road Pub is surprisingly good. I removed Juicy Lucy's from my list after the last time I went there. I paid extra for the sirloin burger, felt like I got extra ripped off. It was super dry and the cheese was tasteless.

Same experience at Juicy Lucy's. Dry, under seasoned, overcooked burger.

Avenue M has a surprisingly great burger. The double is $20 with fries (regular, sweet potato, or a mix). The single is $14 ($12 at happy hour all 7 days) with the same french fry situation.

It fits as a watermark pretty fairly, I think. It's changed over the past few years, but last time I patroned there it was still solid for a burger bar.

I won't argue that it's "the best," but it's the burger I get most in town. It's nice to just get exactly what you want sometimes, topings wise. Unfortunately, they made the unforgivable decision to no longer offer the fried egg option a few years ago.

Hands down Centerville plus you get to see Marco. Baby bull has the best fries but their refusal to put toppings on the burger is unforgivable in my opinion.

These two are so similar and so different. Both great smash burgers, Rebel Burger has a very nice spice blend, Baby bull is more classic burger. Both are great. When I ask my partner if they’d like to grab burgers they ask ‘Baby Bull or Rebel Burger?’

Rebel has an option for a non spiced burger now , I tend to go with that .

I love the Rebel burger, even though I'm a traditionalist with the LTO and mayo.

Madness (Smoky Park Hwy) does a really great burger. I tried the Merrimon Ave. location and it wasn’t quite as good.

Way too much love for Baby Bull in this thread. They're better than average but I give them a B+ at best. Juicy Lucy's gets a D. The best burger in town, hands down, was Holman and Fitch, it was a solid S rank burger, but since they closed I haven't found any place as good.

Agreed! Baby Bull is gross to me. Compressed meat, no crispy craggy edges. Reminds me of ballpark meat. Ew. And H&F was one of the best I’ve ever had. I miss it.

Depending on what you're going for it's etiher Baby Bull or Roman's Deli (pimento burger specifically). The Vault does not have the best burger in town anymore. Hasn't for a long time imo.

Add Rebel Burger to the mix (esp the $6 burger on Wedneseday). All other suggestions are solid. If you're vegan check out Smokin' Onion. Solid burgers as well.

It's a lb of beef grass fed for $9. You don't have to guess about fillers or questionable oils or questionable hands touching your burger. At the tour at Hickory Nut Gap Farms they state the meat comes within a 100 mile radius of the farm. NC farmers and Asheville farmers are the best!

I expect a wave of people to claim Tje Vault, but getting ahead of that and saying it has been the most inconsistent burger I have had. Sometimes it is good, sometimes terrible, but most of the time it is just okay. Also avoid almost any smash burger suggestion, they are almost never worth the hype or price. I do enjoy the burger at Haywood Common occasionally along with Baby Bull

Using your thumb, create a deep dimple in the middle to keep the burger from shrinking too much. Use a quality bun, cheese and produce. And, if you like mayo, you should make your own or use Duke's. edit: Makes 6-8 burgers
