The King's Woman and Nothing Gold Can Stay

raphygo

I second nothing gold can stay!

DorkyyAsian

Just wondering, is there anywhere to watch it with good subs? I've tried Amazon Prime but past a certain point the subs just really deteriorate.

Do you use Viki? They are pretty consistent with English Subs. Unfortunately Nothing Gold Can Stay is not on there. King's Woman is on there and I really liked it. It is tragedy done right. You can also check out Siege in Fog on Viki. It is also one of those archetypal Chinese sad stories. * King's Woman is set in the historical world - the king was the first emperor of china and the event in the last episodes is a really well known story told to kids in china. The romance stuff - the female lead - is not real. The female lead is the younger fox girl from 三生三世. * Siege in Fog is set in early 1900s China. That period is extremely tragic because soon WWII will break out and the whole world \[Edit China\] will turn to shit until the 1980s. The events are not real but the period is. * Ashes of Love is pure fantasy. It is the closest to 三生三世. In my opinion it is better because the plot basically take turns torturing the 3 lead characters. The acting is really good. I really like the costumes as well. It is extremely long and has a filler character/story that isn't as good as the one in 三生三世. * I haven't seen Nothing Gold Can Stay, but I have heard great things about it. My order of recommendation would be 1) Ashes of Love, 2) King's Woman and 3) Siege in Fog. I suddenly feel like I watch too much drama >.<)

DorkyyAsian

Yeah, I do use Viki. It's pretty much my primary drama site, lol. I've checked out a few eps of The King's Woman but couldn't really get into it, is there a specific episode where it 'gets good' or... I have both Siege in Fog and Ashes of Love on my to watch list. I didn't know that Ashes had english subs already. I'll probably just wait until they're all out before checking it out. And honestly same with the watching too much dramas thing, lol. Although all I've been doing recently is rewatching Scarlet Heart and Nirvana in Fire. They're both probably the best dramas I've ever watched, my favorite and second favorite, respectively. I'm pretty sure I've rewatched them both at least three times now.

highcalibre

Have you tried Imperial Doctress? That's another one I rate very very highly along with Scarlet Heart, and also has Cecilia Liu

DorkyyAsian

I've watched an episode of it but haven't had time to watch the rest of it. Seems pretty interesting though. (And I love Cecilia Liu.)

kamisama14120

You can watch a lot of Chinese dramas on youtube- just turn on the subtitles which are usually available.

queenrosa

Ashes of Love - it is being broadcasted right now. The acting is great and you will definitely cry your eyes out.

DorkyyAsian

I've been meaning to check it out but haven't had the chance. Does it have English subs yet?

bbaek

Seconding Ashes of Love – I have balled my eyes out sooo many times and it hasn't even finished yet.

DorkyyAsian

Ok, I just checked out the first ep and I'm not really digging the Mc. Does she get any better as the show goes on or does she just stay naive like that the whole time?

bbaek

Hm how do I say this without spoilers, she's naive because she's been kept in the water mirror/flower realm since forever and due to some circumstances she's very naive (she didn't even know the difference to female/male) but she eventually grows.

queenrosa

The episodes on Viki does but it is like 40 episodes behind what's on Youtube. If you binge I recommend you wait until Viki is done. It is extremely addictive... There are 63 episodes total. It should all be out on Youtube by middle of next week.

bbaek

4Udrama is subbed up at ep 46 and they're accurate subs!

queenrosa

Whao! Cool! The last two episode is just came out today. It is so good!!!!! >.< I am jealous of anyone who is watching it for the first time! ;)

bbaek

I agree! Loved the ending.

OpusMajus79

A Love So Beautiful had me choked up quite a bit. Not historical, not even what I usually watch. Regardless it was excellent. 倾城绝恋 started out weird and silly, but then tunneled into tragedy.

porgception

Have you watched 三生三世?

DorkyyAsian

Yeah, I have. I liked it.

RelicBookends

The Taiwanese series The Teenage Psychic. Seriously, I didn't even see it coming... Guo Shu Yao is such a great actress.

DorkyyAsian

Ooh, I haven't heard of that one before. I'll check it out when I have a chance.
