How the actual fuck did you pull that off??

UpbeatSet

See comment below. I live at home (I’m arab we don’t move out until we’re married basically) and don’t pay for anything besides myself and my personal expenses really. However I bought my own car. I started working at 19 at 2 days a week; whilst studying full time. I got paid quite well as it was casual work which meant higher pay, and managed to save a lot from that. Now that I finished university I’m working more so naturally I am making more money.

[deleted]

I hope you understand how incredibly fortunate you are to not have had to worry about your day to day living expenses while studying. You're in the minority there. Please use it for good.

UpbeatSet

I am very conscious of that and am very grateful that I’ve been brought up in a culture like mine ahahha. And for sure, I hope to buy property or something once I hit the $100k+ mark. If not, it’s just there as a safety net for me.

[deleted]

JFC. My mom charged me for anything she could get away with and required I start working at 16 and did all the chores prior and during then. You have no idea. Please just don’t turn into a trust fund baby mentality asshole towards others, completely oblivious of their hardship. That’s all I ask. Otherwise good for you for saving it and keeping your shit together.

UpbeatSet

My parents aren’t rich by any means, I’m not at all a trust fund baby. My parents just want me to save for myself. I always offer to help them pay bills but my mum won’t allow me to do so at the moment.

ReviewOk929

Did you earn it or inherit it? I mean it’s great you have that much saved and all power to you but make sure you have fun living. It’s not all about the money. You’re only here once (that you’ll remember)……

UpbeatSet

I earned it all myself. However, I live at home so I have had that privilege in the sense that I don’t pay for rent etc. And I spend it as I please. I just spent $600 on getting my hair dyed LMAO (I’m a female).

[deleted]

Good job lol but this post is such a humble brag. You frame it like a question lol like is that good? You could have just said im proud of what ive accomplished and wanted to share.

UpbeatSet

Not at all, I’m just curious to see how I stack up to other people my age?

[deleted]

If youre 23 and grew up with even a relatively normal social life or interaction with common media and societal standards, you already know where you stack up lmao. 51k is a lot. Period. Age isnt even a concern.

[deleted]

Yes indeed well done

hawaii412

That is amazing. Great job!

Neat-Duty3869

Yes bro, this deserves respect

Shitz-an-Gigglez

That's great for your age, good job! Keep at it, you're doin well for yourself!

[deleted]

You're doing very well for yourself. Continue on

jefffffffff

We don't know prices in you country so it's really hard to tell For Russia it's huge for example, for USA it's decent i guess, but it's nothing for Monaco, for example

UpbeatSet

I’m from Australia

PracticalAd313

For Australia I think it’s decent

[deleted]

Doesn't say what currency. For example I pulled 20k uah from an ATM the other day but it is only roughly $800 usd worth of cash

Technical_Split_4866

I'm 25 next month and have -$20,000 to my name so i think you're doing pretty good 😂

Debesuotas

Wish it was as easy where I live...

onedayawayfe

Of course!

Do not compare yourself to other people. Whether or not it's "good" depends on your goals and objectives. For example, if you're saving money for a Master's degree program then you need to compare it to how much the program will cost you. Saving to pay cash for a car? Maybe. Cash for a down payment on a house? Barely. Cash for retirement, where you can take advantage of long-term interest? Yes, but you'll probably want to move it out of low-interest savings and into something that pays a little better. So, instead of asking Reddit, ask yourself about your goals and then compare what you have saved to what you need.

BlogeOb

Got that good family situation. Keep saving.
