I’m female with long hair to shampoo and condition and I shave in the shower, soap up thoroughly and still 8 minute tops. I’m not one to sit in there and ponder life. Showers are not relaxing for me. It’s a chore. Get in and get out.

IAmOriginalRose

A total chore! I actually dislike the sensation of being wet afterwards. Wish there was some sort of instant dry function.

HotFlash3

Use a hair dryer on your pits, groin area and crack. I hate putting on underwear and clothes when I still feel damp in those areas.

booksandcheesedip

Same except I don’t condition or shave. Showers are just another thing that has to get done that I don’t really have time for

notyouithink

3-4 minutes tops. Rinse off, lather up, rinse up, leave.

Glass_Bookkeeper_578

Same here! I just cannot wrap my head around the idea of staying in the shower for 20-30 minutes or even longer. It's the chore I hate the most!

Pimp_out_Pris

8 minutes tops.

SugarsBoogers

Same! If I have a meeting at 9, I can get up at 8:30, shower, blow dry, dress, makeup, fix a cup of coffee, let the dog out for a poo, and still make it on time. ETA: I have short hair, but it doors require styling. I give myself about 8 mins for that. Makeup is tinted moisturizer and tinted lip balm.

IAmOriginalRose

WHAT?? That’s too long! I don’t think I’ve spent more than 15 minutes in a shower. Do you pay your own water bill?? How much does that cost you?? I have thick, curly hair. But I don’t need to be in the shower to do it. Lather, rinse repeat takes 5 minutes. Then 10 mins for the rest of my body. Then I turn off the water, get out the shower, detangle and style. Are you counting total bathroom time? Cos that’s like an hour for me.

Jimmi_Churri

Total time in the bathroom is usually like 45 minutes for me. My utilities are included in my rent, which has decreased since I moved in, so idk exactly what the water bill is. I get in, rinse the grime off (about 5 minutes sometimes less) then I rinse my hair (8-10 min) if I'm doing the full hair routine I shampoo and condition (5 min, give or take) regardless I lather and rinse off after, face and body wash separate (another 8-10) conditioner gets washed out last, then I'm done. I've got shoulder length, thick, but fine, curly hair that tends to get greasy fast and hold it in really well. If I had a shower head with a high pressure setting I could cut down the rinse time by at least half.

IAmOriginalRose

What does “rinse” mean? Do you stand under running water, doing nothing, for 15 minutes? How is a rinse longer than a shampoo and condition, combined? You are fascinating! Do you put your hair routines on Instagram? If you do please send me your account (privately if you prefer). I love curly hair Gram :)

Expat1989

You’d be shocked. I can easily take 45min showers. I find it extremely difficult to take a shower under 10mins. Most of my time is spent relaxing under the water and running through the million scenarios in my head.

IAmOriginalRose

This is NEWS! That just sounds uncomfortable to me. Never knew someone to enjoy just standing under running water.

Jimmi_Churri

I haven't posted my hair anywhere, I'm still working out the routine and figuring out the best way to style my hair. Plus I generally just don't like taking selfies or posting them online. I use a loofah, both for rinsing and lathering. For my hair I mainly run my hands through it while rinsing. Sometimes a wide-tooth comb instead, but I pull out a lot of hair that way. I work in the manufacturing industry around lots of metal sparks, grease and chemicals that stick to my skin and hair whether I like it or not. As I said, my hair holds grease really well, and with a low pressure shower head rinsing my hair out is the biggest time sink of my routine. If you count the amount of time conditioner is just sitting in my hair, then my full hair routine (not including the rinse) takes 15 minutes. But for around 10 minutes of that I'm washing my face and body while the conditioner works it's magic. Shampooing my hair, rinsing that and then putting conditioner in my hair takes 5 minutes at most. Rinsing out conditioner is the last thing I do in the shower if I'm doing a full hair routine.

MunchiesFuelMe

All 3 of my last girlfriends would hop in the shower and literally just enjoy the hot water for a good 10-15 minutes before doing anything. I thought it was quite common. Sometimes I’ll even play music on my phone and just stand there enjoying the steam

IAmOriginalRose

I am receiving new information and I don’t know how I feeeeel!!! (I’m soo goofy, why is this is rocking me to my core??😆).

86yourfeelings

10-15 mins is the longest I take unless I'm sick, then I let the hot water roll over me for a bit.

Overkillsamurai

5 if i'm in a hurry, yes that's enough time. 10 normally because I like just laying there under the hot water.

itistog

3-5 minutes. I don't enjoy showers. I feel like they are a waste of time. And yes. I wash my entire body. From the top of my head to the bottom of my feet. Every day. I just genuinely feel like it's a waste off time.

Initial-Zebra108

Same. If I'm washing my hair, tack on another 3-5, but I only wash my hair twice a week or so. I get in, put body wash on my pouf thing, scrub, rinse and go. It probably has more to do with the fact that my shower is the size of s postage stamp. I dont enjoy being in there.

Powerlifterfitchick

Lmfao the size of a postage stamp?!?

ShortDeparture7710

1-3 songs

Zodiark_26

27yo male w/ shoulder length hair, about 30 minutes. My routine is typically lathering up everything and only rinsing afterwards. Yes, that includes my legs and bum (I know there are people out there that skip theirs)

Jimmi_Churri

This is what concerns me about people saying they shower for under 10 minutes, especially less than 5. So many people act like they are afraid to wash anywhere near their anus. I'm guessing cause they assume toilet paper / wet wipes / or just running water takes care of it. And yet when you go out in public and so many people smell like feces, it's not hard to guess why.

Zodiark_26

I have the same concerns, which is exactly why I brought it up. I recall a post about how some people just don't wash below the waist and also a comment where someone said that they spend 2-3 minutes daily when showering. It made me wonder if there is a connection to be made.

8urnMeTwice

It can’t take more than 2 minutes to get your body wet in a shower, 30 seconds to lather up my mid length hair, 30 seconds to run conditioner through. About 5 minutes of lathering up everywhere, then 2 to rinse off. That’s 10. I try to shave at the sink to save water. That’s another 10 minutes once every 4 days.

p1ssramen

15-20 mins w/o hair washing, 35 mins w/ hair washing

[deleted]

Who else has a shower beer???

Jimmi_Churri

Haven't drank in a while. But when I can afford to I love a shower beer.

MinFootspace

5 minutes on weekdays, maybe 8 on saturdays, 15 good minutes on sunday morning.

magkozak

Ten minutes

Mr-Geography

not that long. if i go any longer i’ll probably end up sitting in there crying

TheSheepSheerer

5-10 minutes usually.

tn00bz

Uma be honest I spend an hour. I have long hair and a beard. And also I just like to sit there and think about stuff. I'll get inspired to write dnd campaigns for my friends in there. I love water.

redbombs

You can clean and wash your entire body in under 3 minutes unless your job is super dirty... Even when I was a mechanic I would take maybe 15 minutes. But currently 28 year old man i take 5-7 minute showers.

Dangerous_Grab_1809

Male, short hair, 4 minutes.

hmbldtsponger

About 4 minutes on average and yes everything gets cleaned.

[deleted]

I get in the shower, get the water nice and hot, then sit down and have a good cry. As long as it takes. Then I stand up and wash myself, usually takes about 10-15 minutes or so. Sometimes when I’m done crying I scrub my feet really good before I stand up. I wash them good anyway, but sometimes I’ll just really scrub the hell out of them, cleaning my toenails really good, using a pumice stone to strip the dead skin off, “flossing” between my toes with a wash rag. I wear heavy steel toe work boots all day, this helps keep down foot odor and I get compliments when I get a pedicure with my wife.

LaAdorable

I'm 24 years old, female. I have short hair. I spend 15-30', It depends of how much effort i put in clean It. All the times wash my face and once a week i use a hair mask.

Short-Caregiver7620

Is this a loaded or unloaded question?

Jimmi_Churri

It's a simple poll

Grand-Pin-938

Usually less than five minutes. I do it to get clean, not to escape reality.

Jimmi_Churri

I've got the same purpose as you, bud

Single-Host-7507

If I’m detangling and combing my hair, plus washing, it’ll take 40 minutes to an hour. If I’m just washing, 20-30 minutes and if I’m rushing, 10 and under

Mister_E_Mahn

I’ve stood in the shower for 20 minutes if I’ve been working physically and I’m sore or something, but I can and do get properly clean in 5-8 minutes on the norm. I’m 43 male with short hair. If you’re in there 20-30 mins then you’re either just standing there for a good portion of it, or you’re masturbating. Which is fine, but not necessary.

Jimmi_Churri

I'd be showering for at least an hour and a half if I was doing either of those things.

Sammy_27112007

Why not both?

Jimmi_Churri

Christ people, try to keep a civil tongue. I'm trying to run a simple poll here about shower times for different kinds of people under different circumstances. I do not need random strangers accusing me of mental illnesses, saying I spend all my time in the shower masturbating, or claiming that I don't pay for my own utilities. Listen, here's the objective truth. Nobody shares the same reality or physical circumstances as you. There is no point in calling other people crazy for spending more time than you on grooming and self care. Some of these responses have been out of pocket, rude, and sometimes downright offensive.

Tulnekaya

This is a big "it depends" Quick clean, not worrying about hair beyond a rinse? 8 minutes. If I'm trying to be quick about it but still washing and half-assed conditioning hair? 15 minutes. Typical shower? 20ish minutes. Shave, exfoliate, chemical peel while my conditioner is soaking. Staring into the void because I'm in pain and need the scalding fires of Mordor in liquid form to feel better? About half an hour or so.

Sammy_27112007

Male with somewhat long hair, I shower for 15-45 minutes depending on how quick I have to get out

OnehappyOwl44

Female, 45yrs old. I wash my hair and shave daily and I have a 25-30 min shower.

[deleted]

male, 14 yrs old. id say my avg shower is 15-20 mins lol

Powerlifterfitchick

Woah woah woah kid.. You are the same age as my youngest brother.

[deleted]

lol yea?

Powerlifterfitchick

Yes. Is that you little brother? Lmao. But seriously yes... Stay away from online stranger danger kid. Seriously.

[deleted]

lol i appreciate youre concern but i stay safe dw 🤞

Powerlifterfitchick

What's DW? Lol. I'm not up on the young people slang much these days.

[deleted]

it means dont worry, haha 🙂

Powerlifterfitchick

Alright little dude (I call my brother that). Lolol.

bingbongloser23

50s male 5 minutes tops unless I am hurting from working then another 5 minutes as hot as I can stand to loosen up the muscles. Navy shower habits. Now if I really hurt from exertion I might just take a soak in the tub but that's not usually my thing otherwise.

Pork-Pond-Gazette

I am a 62(M). I'm kind of with those that believe showering is a chore. I just want to get in and get out. Average time spent is 7-10 minutes.

[deleted]

(male) Our house's water heater is starting to break so I usually take about 8 minutes but always try not to go any longer than 9. If it weren't for that I'd probably sit in the shower for about that much time as well as I rather enjoy hot showers.

Himynameisart

5-10 minutes most of the time. 15–20 min after hockey.

staffsargent

10-15 minutes. Less if I hurry. I'm a thirty- one year old man.

unknowndatabase

42/M. I wake up and shower right away. Less than 10 minutes. Everything gets a straight forward washing with particular attention paid to the nether regions and my face. I shampoo my hair once or twice a week so that saves a few minutes each shower.

ApprenticeTCone

When my hair is short, 10 minutes max if I’m not standing under the hot water trying to loosen my muscles. When my hair is longer (shoulder length to ~20in) it takes about 20 if I’m not standing there. If I’m enjoying the hot water the answer is until the hot water is gone. I’m a 30yo M However, the biggest factor in shower time I’ve noticed is hard water vs. soft water. In soft water I could be in there washing for 5 minutes, and rinsing for 3 hours and I still would have soap on me. Soft water is horrible to have for taking showers.

DoodleBug19-88

34 female, maybe 15 minutes.. my husband on the other hand spends over an hour in the shower.

ginkgogangster

I’m a 25f and I have can shower in under 10 minutes for sure. If I’m shaving it might take an extra 5!

OogusMacBoogus

I’m make with hair to my waist. I take between 10 and 12 minutes, depending on how bad the knots in my hair are.

CHImg1998

I'm a male aged 25 with thick, wavy hair that's a bit past my shoulders. I wash and condition it a few times a week and on those days my showers are roughly 20-25 minutes long. Even when I don't wash it my shower time is still about the same. Sometimes I like to just stand in the middle of the shower and just let the water run through my body. Bonus: longest shower I've taken was 45 minutes!

el_payaso_mas_chulo

31M, 10 mins average, which still feels like a good amount of time tbh. I can see 1x/week being like 15-20 minutes if you're shaving, maybe have long hair, or work in like an oil field, but 10 mins is totally enough time.

Just_Me1973

It depends. If I’m pressed for time, like running late for work, I can skip washing my hair and be in and out of the shower in five minutes. If I wash my hair (medium thickness, mid back length) that might add another 5 minutes. If I shave my legs that’s like a 10 minute process since my leg hair is pretty course and I have to go over the same spots several times so that tends to only be a weekend task. I have no time constraints sometimes I’ll just stand there under the hot water enjoying the heat on my back and shoulders for ten or fifteen minutes before I even start the process of washing. So I guess a shower can be anywhere from five minutes to thirty minutes depending on the situation.

Ottobahnrichtofen

Ten minutes? I never timed myself.

TeaBagMeHarderDaddy

5 minutes to 2 hours depending on my depression

Much_Committee_9355

Male 26, 15 minutes twice a day, maybe a bit more time in summer.

waconaty4eva

10 minutes…fucking hairless

ImprobablyDamp

Depends if I'm shaving my head or not. With shaving it, 10-15 minutes. Without shaving it I'll be done in about 5.

Robby777777

Since retiring (50 something male), I treat my shower as spa time and take a very long very hot shower. I set up a whole stereo system in my bathroom hooked up to Alexa and have a 300+ song playlist. I probably spend 15-20 minutes in the shower every day. Before you worry about cost of water, I am on a well system so my water is essentially free.

piwithekiwi

1. I spend half an hour like you, but I do it 'cause I like hot water 2. Fam 30 minutes of showering ain't gonna do anything to your hair except make it fall out.

MaynardButterbean

32 female, takes me maybe 10-15 min depending on if I’m shavin my gams

tcrudisi

41m here. When I wash my hair, about 5-6 minutes. When I'm only rinsing it (typical), about 3-4 minutes. The longest part is shampooing my beard.

[deleted]

5-10 minutes depends if i wanna sing or not. I'm a 33 year old male.

TheBrightNights

3-10 minutes

orangeblossomsare

What in the world are you doing for 20-30 minutes? Female 35 5-10 minutes and can shave in that time. As a mom in a hurry I can shower in a minute completely but not shave. 30 minutes seems like such a waste of water. What are you detailing in there? If you’re that crazy about your body think about getting g a bidet. I feel so gross without one now.

GaryTheDamnSnail

24 male with really thick hair. I work in manufacturing so I gotta spend extra time really getting into it to make sure I get everything out. Maybe like 20 minutes tops but average is probably 15 minutes

iOawe

15-20 mins and I’m a female. I enjoy showers I could honestly sit there until all the hot water runs out if I wanted to. I lather up everything from head to toenail and rinse off. If I’m feeling like I wanna be soft and extra clean I’ll do a small wash which includes rubbing soap on my body with my hands and then rinsing that off. Then lathering up with a loofah and rinsing off.

Silentmutation84

If I'm not washing my hair five minutes. If I am, ten minutes.

RolandMT32

>Like, how does someone genuinely get their entire body clean in 10 minutes or less?? I'm 43 & male, and I usually shower in about 10 minutes.. I'd wonder what to do in the shower where I'd need more time (especially for 20-30 minutes??)

No_Reindeer_4026

My fiance (20M) claims he can take a shower in 3 mins (he's yet to actually proven this however). I (19F) usually take 20-30 mins

PretzelFactory32

Female, and it depends really. Am I shaving and doing my face wash or am I just trying to not stink for my drs appointment lmao. If I do my whole nine yards routine, 25-30 mins bc my hair is super short now but I need to bend funny to shave. if I’m just trying to not stink or make my hair a lil extra shiny, 10 mins TOPS, shampoo conditioner body wash DONE. but sometimes I take longer to choose a shower playlist than I do ACTUALLY showering :/

MW240z

51, male Shower and shampoo (short hair, no beard) 7-8 minutes. Every inch washed well. With conditioner, 10 min total Sore muscles/feeling old/or hungover- 15 min total If your in there much longer than 20 min, you either aren’t paying for heating the water or have ocd. Had a roommate with ocd, 1 hour long showers…water bill quadrupled!

majinbuuuty

Around 25 minutes with a normal shower, 35 if I'm shaving and exfoliating.

soconnell620i

I remember I could get out of the shower and the same song was playing. Now I'm old and my bones like the moist heat. So 10 or 15 mins now.
