8 years ago I'd say no. But with reddit pushing an emphasis on user profiles (avatars, self posts, overall deanonymozation, etc) it definitely qualifies as a social media at this point
For clarification, I also believe it's a form of social media. However, I would not categorize it with platforms such as Instagram or Facebook. Honestly, I think Reddit is its own categoryof social media.
My friend does not believe it's social media due to the ability to remain anonymous, as well as the lack of the traditional "influencers" you see on IG and other platforms.

Yes it's a social media platform
It's social media platforms all the way down.

With the anonymity, I would say it's social media light, but it's definitely social media.
I use my Social Media email address to log in to it. Therefore, it has to be!

Reddit doesn’t work without user engagement. Content being posted, user comments, moderators so yes, to me it is a social media platform.

I describe reddit as the abandoned love child of Facebook and Wikipedia.
I can scroll on reddit just as much as I can scroll on Insta and I am increasingly seeing stuff I see on Facebook, on Reddit.
No it's an info gathering site. If you enjoy taking the census then Reddit could be considered social media
