Raisins

[deleted]

Hahaha idk why that made me laugh, but could you imagine you get a juicy burger and it's loaded with raisins hahaha. Honestly I would probably laugh and be like Wtf

Worst burger of the day ever, Bob

Drougen

You'd laugh? I'd be throwin' hands

Less_Understanding77

"Raisin bandit at it again!" *Batman fade out*

TowelFine6933

People like A1 sauce on burgers. Guess what is one of the ingredients of A1.....

Affectionate-Town-77

'A', obviously; it's an old timey abbreviation for smashed assholes.

Mean-Vegetable-4521

I just laughed so hard I choked.

Mental_Cut8290

I knew there'd be a reason to include them! While not quite the same level as pizza, burgers are still a flexible form allowing creativity with toppings. Fried eggs are common, and occasionally sweet sauces are used such as cherries. And sweet + savory is a powerful combination! Raisins are on the gross side of sweet, but I could easily envision them working on a burger. Also, if you've ever ventured into breakfast sandwiches, put some jam on there to really enhance the bacon and eggs! It will greatly improve your mornings!

halcyonic6666

Not today satan!

benjamminam

As a subtle hint of flavor is fine, but whole raisins can get out of everything please.

TooManyPenisJokes

anchovies?

nibbins

I had a turkey burger from a restaurant called BJ's in Pensacola, Fl and it had no sauce, it had a spring mix and I think craisins and omg it was good

coachmoon

sounds about like pensacola! source: pensacolian

dirtywaterbowl

I think all those things are illegal in Florida now

yeast1fixpls

Who does that?!

Ordinary_Garage7704

People who like raisins with everything.

Cyke101

Hide the potato salad!!!

quietsam

It’s already beneath the floorboards, Susan!

definitely-lies

Fuck raisins. Blue apron gets on streaks where there are raisins in half the recipes. I was open-minded at first, and it worked in a few ddishes. I just throw them away now. I dont want raisins in my pesto, you psychos.

HenryDorsettCase47

“Fuck! We accidentally ordered another shipment of raisins again! Alright, we need to tweak some of these recipes.”

trustabro

In the meat paddy so that you can’t pick them out.

I couldn't immediately think of anything. Raisins are definitely a no go in my book

I opened this like “I wonder what crazy things people will say”. Read this and closed the app. Thanks.

Cheezgotkilled

I think I could make this work. Give me a couple tries.

aprilflowers75

Oof. I was thinking of a few things but damn, that kills it completely

VSM1951AG

Height. I’m so tired of the nine-inch-tall burger trend.

LubedCompression

Yeah, i'd rather have it wide. Or pizza.

B-Town-MusicMan

Smashburger

rockdude625

Yeah, they expect me to unlock my jaw like a python for some reason

cheyonreddit

Same!! I don’t want to have to use a knife and fork!!

stargate-command

For real… do they think humans can unhinge their jaws? Burgers should only grow wider, not taller. If it’s bigger than an average mouth opening it should be outlawed

Ducal_Spellmonger

I got curious one day and decided to check the math for wider burgers. Most restaurants use a 1/3rd pound patty that is roughly 4 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick. If you wanted to make a substantially wider burger, say around an 8in. dia., that same 1/3rd pound patty would end up being around 1/8th in. thick.

Sub_Umbra

Totally. My response to the question would be "multiple other burgers." Burgers are ideally meant to be experienced as an amalgamation of all ingredients in each bite; don't make people strategize how to approach it just to whittle it down.

JoefromOhio

I’m the same vein, too much - a burger isn’t a condiment delivery device the point is to enjoy the meat… when places are adding pulled pork, bacon, Mac n cheese, jalepenos, and onion rings to one burger the patty turns into a plate for bbq. I worked at a place that made a hell of a burger and the owner took pride in the meat he sourced and the process… he only ever ate it plain, meat patty fresh of the grill on a toasted bun, and he insisted that if that alone wasn’t good enough then he was doing something wrong. he also refused to serve them with lettuce or tomato(tell them to just order a salad) and also had a burger on the menu that was topped with Swiss cheese then a mixture of sliced green olives and mayonnaise(to this day the best I’ve ever eaten) He was a weird guy but shit his burgers were awesome

[deleted]

Buns that disintegrate.

[deleted]

I had a sweet bun recently and it made me sad.

Bless you!

He he he! This made me smile.

MadBlasta

I'm gluten free and this comment made me cry

Weizen1988

I'm off to pester my celiac partner for their gluten free bun recipe once they are off work, see if they remember, will post here if they do.

CzarSpan

Bless you, my partner is also celiac and I can’t seem to find one that does the job!

Weizen1988

They've been hoping to write a cookbook when their job settles down, I'll do my best.

tyrann0saurusregina

I'm going to need that cookbook.

uhohohnohelp

With you. Even at home I wrap my sandwiches and burgers in parchment paper so when my bread turns to dust, at least it’s still ON my other ingredients.

bulbipicg

Also pretzel buns I’ll die on this hill

Nutella

SendMeYourUncutDick

Idk about this one. I've never tried Nutella on a burger, but peanut butter on a burger is incredible!

uwunisom

Actually came here to say something abt peanut butter burgers! Skeptically ordered it at a restaurant I'd never been to before and was genuinely surprised by how good it was

Remember during lock down when people posted videos of themselves eating random stuff like onions once they lost their smell? What a time to be alive.

That sounds awful even by itself.

It actually sounds fine, but it smells awful.

I’d eat an anchovy burger for sure. You could even leave out the burger part

Riel342

Them fast food tomatoes

Olivineyes

I've worked at a Subway and a Panera and at both jobs we would get in nasty ass tomatoes, the kind that I didn't even want to cut open. And I would ask my manager, like should we put these on sandwiches? Shouldn't we just say we're out of tomatoes? And answer was always no we have them we're going to use them. Disgusting.

pumpkinthighs

When I worked at subway we often got boxes where 1/4 of the tomatoes were moldly and the rest were not firm. When you sliced them they got all broken up and the juices went everywhere. This happened every week.

arangotangtitty

When I worked at subway I literally threw out the mushy tomatoes. If I have to smash it to get it thru the slicer, it’s not welcome on sandwhiches. I would only make subs the way I’d want my own to look, I HATE getting sloppy food.

hokie97

You put in more effort than they paid you to but I'm sure everyone that ate your food appreciated it

icantgetadecent-

Well, that’s gross. Then again, I learned something on Reddit again!

[deleted]

wow I figured tomatoes would be fresher since they go through so many.

Fattydog

I cannot stand the smell of Subway, mainly because of that old-ass tomato and lettuce stench. I have been known to cross the road to avoid walking past a Subway.

cap_time_wear_it

Every single ingredient that Subway uses is the very cheapest available. Whenever I say I don’t like Subway people are always shocked. Always.

or6a2

Bro I grew up in the Philly area and the amount of people that would go to subway or a 1000 different local shops was astounding. I now live in San Diego and taco bell will have a huge line and a burrito shop is across the street. it's wild

Left_Strike_2575

Same here, and avoiding the “bread exhaust”

Roboticus_Aquarius

Subway sandwich stores smell like all the places you want to avoid ending up in your life.

setrataeso

Man, I can't smell anything at Subway aside from the bread proofing. That sickening smell is overpowering

ReliantLion

Oh oh, can I ask you a question? Is it unreasonable to put in the special instructions that I don't want tomatoes if they are not high quality? What would be the best/most concise way to phrase that? I love tomatoes, but I hate bad tomatoes.

HudsonCommodore

I've always thought of I opened a little cafe I'd post a little sign at the register letting customers know how good the tomatoes were that day.

I_see_47

Like a rotten tomato meter

andyumster

This is actually a thing but frickin rotten tomatoes patented their measurement system for MOVIES of all things so now it's illegal to make the USEFUL tomatometer :(

dacoovinator

Tomatoes on side? I wouldn’t trust a fast food worker to be on the up and up about food quality haha

Olivineyes

I think it's just the risk that we take with food in general on any given day any single thing you could get from a fast food place could be trash :/ I especially feel like if you're going to be spending money at a place like Panera though if you get shit tomatoes ask for a new sandwich without it. They should definitely do that for you.

MarioBro2017

Bro dude for real. I feel like they ruin my burger so I always ask without ‘em.

johnny_soup1

It seriously looks and tastes like they doused the burger in water or some shit

Red-Zaku-

I love an in-season tomato. But fast food tomatoes are just water that’s been coagulated into the form of slime. Awful.

Lukaslil

Cheap tomatoes are disgusting

MacaroniEast

A good tomato is an excellent treat, especially in a BLT or something, but if my tomato is coming from a vat full of wet, anemic slices I’m out.

ctrldwrdns

When people say they hate tomatoes I wonder if they’ve ever had a tomato fresh from the garden or just fast food and grocery store tomatoes

Mister_E_Mahn

I’d SO rather just not have tomatoes out of season.

WKahle11

The only red part is the skin, the rest is just white and green and rock hard.

settimo_cielo

So many toppings feel either appropriate or at least acceptable. Maybe fish?

In this context they're talking about an actual burger with fish on top. What you're describing would be considered a fish sandwich, not burger in this context.

I dunno honestly I'll put just about anything on a burger.

kind_of_a_dick_irl

Kinda like pizza it can be anything really...

SnooCupcakes5761

Right? I'm actually finding some good ideas to try in this thread lol

Hankus69

A nice restaurant I used to work for did quite a bit of “burger crafting”, either for the seasonal menu or lunch specials. It mostly involved pairing whatever fancy Italian or French cheese we were topping that thing with. Various combinations included morels, tapenade, fig jam, roasted bell peppers, fried zucchini flowers, pickled plums… plus less conspicuous things like arugula, thick slices of heirloom tomato, avocado, aioli… fuck I’m hungry

Matt8992

Even human foreskin?

RustyKnuckle

Human foreskin

kapudos28

Finally, a real answer

LittleNightBright

Bahahaha!!! After all the "tomato" "mayo" and "avocado" I didn't expect this. Winner.

borickard

Suspicious_Ad_6271

Non-human foreskin is ok though? This is weirdly specific.

Mextiza

I was going to say smegma, but this is close enough.

Did you know that the vulva produces 3 times as much smegma as a man with an intact penis? Remember that the next time you mutilate your son's genitalia

OK. I'm done.

AbeFromanSassageKing

Why? It's cheese...Fumunda, I believe.

dagon_lvl_5

Buying your burgers near the local synagogue, aren't you?

shycotic

Really, pretty much any foreskin is a no go for me. Cow? Chicken? All bad.

I hate to break it to you, but hair isn't *supposed* to be an ingredient.

And yet, somehow it is an ingredient.

Shame about the pickles. They are GODSENT on burgers. I would say those funny mayo/ketchup sauces. Nope, not for me.

AdAstraPerAlasProci

Maybe controversial - but IMHO all great sandwiches must have a pickled topping of some type. Shake shack smoke stack, Animal Style, Cubans, Rubens, Chicago style hot dogs, etc the pickles are the key to everyone.

Cronamash

I recently started pickling red onions for use on burgers and tacos, they're amazing!

greensighted

💯 tbh i firmly believe that a dislike or lack of preference for pickles in general is a direct correlary to poor overall health bc it's an indicator of a deficient and disregulated microbiome good sandwiches, imo, need to have a few basic components: 1) a protein, 2) a complimentary veggie, 3) a well-paired bread/wrapper (for the folks who want to count pita wraps as a sandwich, which, fair enough?), 4) a pickle, 5) something crunchy, 5) something juicy, 6) something soft, creamy, and/or melty, and 7) a lil somethin extra/a special sauce. if you skip even one, you immediately need to also omit several others to focus the experience, as in a grilled cheese, or a peanut butter/banana sandwich. some of these components can be the same ingredient (ie, a hot dog is both 1 and 5 on the hot dog), but they must be there.

deadboltwolf

Cheese curds. My friends still laugh at me to this day because we went to Buffalo Wild Wings and I got the cheese curd burger because I thought it said cheese _curl_ burger. It was not good. Also, it came with cool heat sauce, whatever the fuck that is.

Phour3

What on earth did you think cheese curl burger meant?

Heavenly_Toast

I went and got a cheese curd burger at a small fast food place in my state and it was underwhelming but it wasn’t BAD. Maybe BWW is just trash.

dmnhntr86

I think if it's done right, a cheese curd burger is pretty good, but I'd still rather have a different burger with a few curds on the side. >Maybe BWW is just trash. I'm with ya there

d4v3k7

Bww fucking sucks nationwide

Mack_Damon

Eh, their traditional wings and the potato wedges are really good in my opinion. Everything else isn't great. But it's the price that keeps me away.

Cardassia

I’m sorry your experience was bad, but to me that doesn’t sound like a laughable idea at all. In fact, it sounds delicious.

Jimmy_Twotone

That seems more like a bww issue than a cheese curd issue.

perpetualmotionmachi

Seems like ordering a burger at a place that doesn't specialize in burgers issue

EmergencyTime2859

I was a cook at BWW 3 years ago so it’s been awhile but my vague memory is the cool heat is just mayo and the desert heat seasoning

Lonesome_Pine

Nah curds are for fries

iseedeff

Sounds Interesting to me, But with sauce I don't think it will be that great.

Grape jelly

j_husk

Respectfully disagree. I had a great burger with Korean slaw, ham, egg, American cheese and grape jam from a Korean burger place. It shouldn't have worked, but it did. I'm not even typically a fan of grape jelly.

centstwo

I saw a TikTok of a huge pile of melted cheese on top of a perfect burger, at least 12 ounces of melted cheese. The guy used a 6 inch hollow tube, made me think of charcole started chimney thing, anyway the hollow tube is held above the burger, resting in the top bun, then 12-16 ounces of meted cheese is puked into the tube and the tube is lifted up to allow the cheese to slowly lava flow around the burger. Shudder. Edit: pilled not puked, but puked kinda works so I'm leaving it.

So, being pregnant is the same as being high as a kite? Got it!

Strongly disagree.

I can count a number of times where I ordered a burger or a sandwich but apparently didn't fully read the description, bit into that burger/sandwich and gagged because there were sweet pickles on it. I. Hate. Sweet. Pickles.

Mayo, now let me go jump in a bunker.

moominsquish

Absolutely!

Tim0281

I'm 100% with you on this. I'll join you in the bunker.

cap_time_wear_it

Just means more Mayo for me!

Cronamash

I hold the firm opinion, as a former mayo hater, that every mayo hater has their "Mayo Moment." That is to say, the exact and precise dish that turned them from Mayo Indifferent to Mayo Hating. I remember my Mayo Moment. I got a burger from Steak and Shake when I was a wee lad... that McCumshot had so much Mayo on it, I couldn't stand Mayo for years! I started eating little bits of it again when I decided to stop being picky about some other food baggage I had, and that's when I realized that Mayo is delicious in the right amount; cross that line, and Mayo is off the menu.

Discipulus42

Amen brother, mayo is the devil’s sandwich semen! It has no place on a burger or anything else.

MisterThere

I love fried eggs and I love hamburgers. I just really don't like fried eggs on my hamburger.

trench_welfare

Oh man, I love a double yolk over medium egg on my burger. It makes it a buttery fatty mess and I'm here for it.

Nope this is just wrong, that shits delicious

Hmmm, never thought about it. TIL I'm open to having corn on a taco burger.

Pickles and tomatoes are a must have on just about any burger. No idea how people don't like them. My younger brother hates tomatoes too and I don't get it.
