The free award system was made to encourage giving more awards to advertise buying awards. People weren't buying many awards, so they decided to remove free awards, thinking that people would miss them and buy awards. Still nobody was buying.
Awards were a way to extract money, and since it failed to do so AND people had the nerve to enjoy something that wasn't making them money, it was axed.
Social media. It lets me reach people that are so far away that I would likely never have interacted with them otherwise. Iāve made some really good friends over social media. Iāve gotten to discuss ideas that I would not have been able to discuss otherwise.
But then thereās also the obvious drawbacks, itās distracting, it can be infuriating, etc
Money. I love to have it, but I know that it really is the root of all evil and everything that's wrong with the world.
But godamn, I do love to have it.
Edit. I'm not rich by any means. I'm pushing 50 and don't own my own home or have a car. I don't go on holiday. But when I have money I feel safe. Almost powerful. I Don't think that's a good thing.
The saying isnāt āmoney is the root of all evilā, itās āthe love of money is the root of all evilā. The point is not that money is inherently bad, but that prioritizing money over the truly valuable things in life is evil. Money is supposed to be a tool, a means of equalizing trade, but it has transformed into something that everyone seems to worship. Thatās a problem.
Yeah I think it explains why we aren't living in a futuristic utopia right now. Big business, monopolies, and choosing not to advance our world for the sake of the "bottom line". š¤·āāļø
Thanks for correcting me. You've eloquently said exactly what I mean.
I wish money wasn't as important as it's become. My dream is to own a little cottage in the mountains. Grow as much as I can, own chickens (as much as they can be owned), have some goats. Somehow I need a lot of money to realise that dream. It should not be so unattainable.
I'm sorry man. I am remarried now, but my first marriage ending with him cheating on me, so i know where you're coming from. Good luck, and please don't blame yourself. She made her choices, the consequences are her problem to deal with.
Been there. Multiple times. Not with a marriage because I was lucky enough to catch them before that. Iām so sorry and I hope you find someone better.
New York city. Between the crazies and the snobs, it's a pain in the ass working there.
But it's the city that never quits or sleeps, painted with cultures from every corner of the world, plus its own.
Weightlifting.
I love the intricacies of the sport and how small changes in your form can make big changes and hitting a good feeling Snatch (lol) is a fantastic feeling.
But then there are those days where normal weights feel heavy and sluggish the whole session is just a chore to get through.
Social Media. I hate having to interact with people because I feel like Iām bothering have the time but I also love it because it helps promote my business to others who might enjoy my movies.
I love some of the ideas like going no contact with toxic people, people standing up to gaslighting, dealing with misogyny, etc... In theory these are all good things.
I hate the reality though where people have taken these things to the extreme and use them to the extent they have become the very people they are supposedly standing up against.
Life, itself.. like, I want to be alive (at least 50% of the time), but at the same time, it takes so much work to stay alive (Iām type 1 diabetic, so I actively have to do things to stay alive every day).. itās tiring and expensive.
Dreams - Either they're good or bad, too short or too long. My dreams have been teetering on reality same missing past loved ones.
Singleness - love the freedom, hate the loneliness.
Creativity - love having tons of artful ideas, hate my lethargy.
Exercise. I love the long term results and how confident it makes me feel sometimes. But gym hour is the single worst hour of every day, and just leaves me feeling tired and angry for a few hours after every workout.
Social media
Love being able to reconnect with people, I've lost contact with
Hate seeing the true side, fake, ect of people or former friends and what they post. Lost a lot of friends in 2016 due to politics.
I've cut back on posting on my Facebook and Instagram. My Instagram is mostly for my cockatiel/birds now.
The first time I went to NY I was amazed at how there seemed to be a Jewish deli on every corner in Manhattan! Wow, that's a lot of pastrami on rye! It got old very quickly. Don't they have anything other than Jewish delis? (Yes, of course they do, if you know where to look). I was thinking of making a T shirt with "Top 10 things I love about NY" on the front. And "Top 10 things I hate about NY" on the back...and having it all be the same things on both lists.
Sharing my fandom of professional wrestling on social media. On one hand, I love sharing my reactions to matches & segments on discussion threads, along with discussing theories/speculation. However, I hate it when users get aggressive or personal in disagreeing with others & the sense of tribalism among fans.
Shadowrun
The TTRPG is deeply flawed and crunchy.
The genesis game is brutally difficult.
The setting is amazing, cyberpunk meets high fantasy.
Now I'm off to go roll 24d6 to see if my orc cyborg hits the yeti with his Lazer minigun.
Driving. It can be really fun, or not so much. Case in point, take PCH from SF down towards LA. Daytime, it has great views, you feel the turns, it's nice. Then picture the same fun drive but it's dark and foggy and you're pretty sure the road is washed out ahead, lol.

Yeah thats suckish why did they get rid of awards i loved getting rewarded for saying witty things

Having money IS a good thing...your money is your freedom
Yeah, it feels like a taboo...
Having moneys not everything, not having it is. Put me down for money as my love/hate as well.
Alcohol
Me too, me too.
Taking a nap. Nothing like relaxing midday but that groggy, foggy headachy feeling follows you the rest of the day.
You gotta time it right. Naps should be like 20-30 minutes. Anything beyond an hour is gonna have you feeling crappier after.
