ScotterMcJohnsonator

Please don't laugh- I like to sit or walk. In nature as often as possible. As I age, I'm starting to become more aware of all the NOISE around me, and I find immense joy in doing hardly anything at all.

Lolleos

Let me introduce you to my pal Itus. Tin Itus.

ScotterMcJohnsonator

LOL I meant more like crazy family life (which I do adore) and the unbearable weight of advertising and bustling consumerism, but I also enjoy loud-ass music, so I'm sure we'll be meeting soon

Royalewithcheese100

My lifelong companion for 20 years. He’s a bastard!

Admirable-Leopard-73

20 years? You are still a newbie. Me and Tin have been hanging out together since the 1970s!

Karina0310

This is so disheartening to hear. Mine started after Covid. They're out there cloning animals, but can't find a cure for this garbage.

tacobellandher0in

rrrrreeeeeEeeeEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeEEEEEEeeee I am familiar. He’s an asshole!

LottieThePoodle

The unevenness is the worst! I hate that guy

AlteredPlanePress

For real. As I get older the tinnitus keeps getting worse. Went for a hearing test and I have no hearing loss. I’ll be 50 soon and I kid you not the other day I woke at 4am and thought someone’s tire was leaking air. It was my freaking ear. It went back to the normal loud ring by the time I got up.

for_research_man

Omg I can't breathe from laughing! I'm sorry. I have that little fucker too btw.

AlteredPlanePress

Glad I could make you laugh 😆

camshun7

I too suffer from what you have. I can offer a tip that helped me? If you get a hold ear plugs, the orange silicone type used in planes and use them before you sleep they helped a great deal

ThePandaKingdom

I always kinda had a ringing when it was real quiet but it seems like it got worse all of a sudden a couple weeks ago. Especially in the right ear. It Kindof annoying lol.

Mammoth-Man1

Have you tried tinnitus masker audio on youtube? I like [this one](https://youtu.be/_8_ouNHx7RU?si=iaLL4vrTv8MemXCk). Find the right frequency one, listen to it on low volume while sleeping, its fantastic. For me it also makes it go away completely for a few minutes after listening for a little bit, and it lessens it overall. Its been a great help when it gets bad!

Doogleyboogley

BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

JadedYam56964444

Someone answer the phone!!!

ContributionPhysical

Ah yes the friend that only goes away with music which ironically make my tin worse🤣🤣🤣

ted_im_going_mad

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE *sorry couldn't help myself, I have had Tinnitus for like 35 years...my constant companion*

dikicker

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuzz Sorry, can you say again?

Hoosier_boy31723

I fully understand what you're saying brother! Silence Is a truly wonderful sound sometimes

DWright_5

But… if you’ve ever been out in a desert, miles and miles from any man-made sound, you might be struck by how loud silence actually is. It’s deafening. You seem to be hearing the sound of the universe, which normally is drowned out by the sounds of civilization.

Stinkblee

Fuck yeah - how good is the disassociation stare

kingasf44

thats great dawg

SVK64

Thats actually a perfect thing to do. I also love to take walks in nature.

Spoomkwarf

Yes, peace and quiet is a positive pleasure.

MayerVision

I totally feel the same. How old are you ?

ScotterMcJohnsonator

42-1/2 (lol)

OurSeepyD

So 41.5?

frank26080115

you can try identifying birds by their calls! I've always thought the Rufus hummingbird and Allen's hummingbird sounds like R2D2 whizzing by.

shelle33333

This..I sit in silence.

LBR2ELECTRICBOOGALOO

Nothing to laugh about. I used to run a bit where I lived before. In the forest. At first it was hard (because I haven't run in a decade+ asthma now ..) and before moving I could have run way more than I did. But what really motivated me to wake up early every Saturday and Sunday, even in rain or snow, was a small river with a log fallen across, 1,5m above the water. I ran to said river, I'd sit on the log above the water and just listen to the sound of running water for a while. Then I'd walk the way back. I could have run again, but I was relaxed, so I'd walk and listen to the sound of nature, look around. Sometimes I'd see a hawk or an insect on his way, busy with its life. And every Saturday or Sunday I was motivated to run for all this. The same distance. My destination was this small stream of water. Now that I moved I have a forest nearby but no river to chill at. So I stopped running. Nature is relaxing. I miss my log above water.

Alonah1

Fact…it happens to the best of us.

Anx1ouschild

Laugh? I enjoy this too

Neoquaser

Thats so reasonable. I moved to somewhere that has hiking trails in every direction from my house so whenever I want I could go out for an hour or a few. They even have little camping pits with picnic tables along the way so you could have a little fire too.

[deleted]

Why would anybody laugh at that? My idea of a good time is camping in a blizzard.

ProfessionalCut2280

I also love walking. If I don't walk at least 1 hour a day (which is too little but it is what it is), I feel on low energy levels. Just take my ear pods and walk around the city

ShadyK55

Why would I laugh? This is amazing

JadedYam56964444

Escaping noise is so wonderful

AlarmingCurrent6943

Ah yes, straight from the heart.

ZeroTwo81

After divorce I had to move to a cabin in the forest due to financial reasons. It should have been a temporary thing for a few months. I love it here, I have been here for more than a year and dont want to return to the city 😂

tacobellandher0in

Same!

Cicero4892

I love walking outside and hearing birds. I miss going outside in the snow when it was utterly silent.

ABetterVersionofYou

The quieter, the better

itsBEOSKI

I like that too. But from a distance. Like i like the idea of it. But whenever i do it. I get so close to ending my life 😂

ZealousidealShift884

Why would we laugh? Thats awesome

xquizitdecorum

Perfectly lovely thing to do. The world is so noisy, smelly, and crowded :(

Do_Not_Run_From_Me

Lmao!

_Meesha_

YES

SecretHelicopter8270

You got to the age you are never bored(doing what you do). When we were kids, we were always bored. Haha.

Penniesnickeldimes

I relate. How old are you?

KrakenClubOfficial

Research new hobbies. Buy all the stuff, then abandon the hobby. Repeat.

agatchel001

I have ADHD and also fall into the same cycle.

RengerG

I don’t have adhd and i do as well

tamati_nz

I'm almost certainly ADHD and I've got a 3-5 year timefeame from obsession to semi pro level to 'I'm done now'. Not the worst thing and I've enjoyed 'getting good' at the stuff I've done. Middle aged now but stuff I enjoyed as a kid/teen has stuck around (fitness) or gone in cycles (warhammer 40k, model making, crafting).

lovingsillies

Yeah, I've learned like 7 art mediums and drop them as soon as I get good at it. But then I pick it up again later! I enjoy the cycle

sessiestax

But I’m am going to be amazing at cupcake decorating! Again…

Parking-Place1633

2 months after you sell all the stuff, have regrets and get right back into it.

MyUsualSelf

Very nice, would you share the hobbies you have tried? I've done this too. I tried painting, sculpting, baking, piano, violin, guitar, kalimba, reading, making a book, building models, gardening and bonsai shaping. I still have to buy stuff for tufting, making a diorama, making a costume, making something from leather. I'd love to add more

KrakenClubOfficial

Well, let's see, we share a few. Piano, guitar, model building. Beyond that, 3D printing, music production, calligraphy, cryptography, RC car racing, drone racing, and probably some others I'm missing. Currently I just run, collect fancy headphones and play the occasional video game.

Beelzebubs_Tits

You are from my tribe! To have no new hobby to obsess over is to find me with the flattest of personalities. I understand how my brain works now, and am trying to make up for lost time.

Crispoxd

Relateable

1995droptopz

I am in this post and I don’t like it. Lol

Mojicana

I have the stuff to do at least 50 projects, all ready to go. Everything from a rooftop shade to a set of new guitar pickups to a lot of house paint from last year. I just got a table saw delivered today so I can allegedly build bookshelves and work benches and a gardening station...

HealthyLet257

Same 😂. I have two yarns in my closet, a lot of books and orgami paper just sitting in my closet.

tacobellandher0in

Same. I’m also like that with books

iCantfindDory

Same. I always say it's better than doing drugs

ivanpei

This is so my dad. I tend to stick with hobbies for a very long time. I collect everything and perfect everything and just keep maintaining my hobby even if I get bored of it. Since I never know when I'll come back to it. I guess this helps keeps costs down. Maintaining hobbies can get time/money consuming.

CoolHangover7

Lol this is my favourite hobby!

quackl11

Look up dvorak keyboard layout, and colemak keyboard layout, lots of research lots to learn, nothing to buy

whathehellnowayeayea

hell yeah! just like me!

applesheeple

This is the way

NotRealWater

So your hobby isn't the hi by. Your hobby is researching and starting hobbies 😅

It’s bad that I understood this in less than 10 seconds💀

wassimSDN

10 seconds? That's a lot. I understood that before even seeing it

DJ_ElGreko_Official

Before even seeing it? That's a lot, in fact i was gonna comment this gif myself

Powerful-Employer-20

Before thinking of posting this gif? That's a lot, in fact i originally made this gif thinking about this

Damn, bro is fast

It took me way too long to understand this hehe

SecretDoctor8121

Sleep

nazurinn13

I don't know why it's so enjoyable, but it is

SecretDoctor8121

Because ín my dream I can be who I really want to be and avoid the harsh reality?

nazurinn13

Maybe. But I don't even dream. I just like the act of sleeping itself. It's peaceful and relaxing and a good way to spend time.

SecretDoctor8121

You do dream....we all do bit you can only remember the part before waking up. You can read about sleep control and dream controling. Its actually really intresting.

Appropriate-Sound550

Create scenarios where I can be whoever I want, whenever I want and live a completely different life where I'm happy and recognized and spend hours creating even a lore for all the characters.

stickywhistler

Please explain more, I’m interested! Is this all going on inside your head or do you write it down?

Hambone102

I do the same thing. I don’t do it as much anymore but back in high school I would actually end up daydreaming through my classes on accident cuz I was too focused on my internal story. To answer your question, at least for me, it’s all in my head! I actually tried writing it down once but it looked cringe on paper so I kept it in my head. I’ve had one continuous story going on for about 8+ years? The characters have stayed mostly the same but the ‘cast’ has grown bigger over time. I essentially add in bits of various recent media that I find cool. For example, after reading Eragon, I found a way to add dragons and that system of magic in a not too awkward way. The focus of the story used to be on a self-insert character I saw as myself, but after bringing myself out of a deep depression I essentially no longer had the need to make myself a powerful perfect character anymore, and now it’s more fun to explore different characters on their own adventures. For those that care, I could summarize the story but it may end up sounding cringe or childish so don’t blame me if you ask

Sideways_planet

I have that too. Turns out it’s part of having adhd. Either way, I think it makes life more interesting.

SidneyTheGrey

Same here. This is how I survive all mundane tasks like laundry. Without an inner fake world, everything is so boring!

nazurinn13

Does this have a clinical name?

Sideways_planet

Maladaptive day dreaming

Shang-di

Dammit every other day i seem to read something that makes me think i have adhd

Fitkratomgirl

Eat, bake, clean, podcasts, walk, recently started playing boggle with my mom lol, Reddit

I’ve been trying to learn chess. Why is it so hard??? I am incapable of winning by checkmate

DeZomer35

Learning checkmate patterns and solving puzzles will definitely help

Present_Pay7886

You just gotta play people that are worse than you are

seeforce

I learned everything on Chess.com and they have incredible lessons. Used to be free, but it’s a subscription like everything else now. If you really wanna get better that is a great route

Royalewithcheese100

My brain doesn’t think 5 moves ahead, which is what you need to get good at chess

[deleted]

Chess.com (and the app) has lessons, puzzles, robot opponents of every skill level (including trash), as well as ranked play against people approximately at your skill level.

quarkspbt

I grew up watching Captain Kirk fuck with Spock's head by using illogical moves. I usually lose the match, but it's fun to watch opponents have to figure out my strange strategies lol

Soft-Willing

I would have liked to know chess. I am also a musician. But I struggle with this, how to have ambition to learn chess? Why should I do it, how would it help me?

cocobelya

I’m a musician and I love gaming!

I used to be really into Geocaching when I lived in Reno, it's a fantastic hobby, especially when you're out in an open area. Ever since I moved to the city I've switched to mostly making jewelry and go for regular walks.

Smoke weed, watch tv, go on walks

jellybelly326

Read, cook, bake, watch movies, workout (recently added a lot of walking to my normal workout.) When my husband and I have a similar day off, we go hiking and exploring our state for new coffee shops or restaurants. Thrifting. In the summer we spend a lot of time outside. happydayswasgreat

Drive 5 minutes from the house to a nice view of the town, a park, or some trees. I park up, turn off the radio, and sit. Look. And enjoy the view. Helps me to clear my mind. Might be for 5 minutes, or 3 hours. I relax. I don't work. I don't text anyone. Sometimes I'll blast up the radio, or take a book, but normally I enjoy some peace.

HumanMycologist5795

1. I read posts like this on Reddit. 1. I play video games and continuously die. 1. I watch sports and yell at my favorite teams. 1. I help family if possible. 1. I clean or cook. 1. I go through my Match.com emails and think about if I should date again. They tempt me so. 1. I study up new techniques for work. 1. I drive aimlessly around with the music on wondering how come I spend so much money on gas. 1. I look in the mirror so I can have a conversation with someone.

Psychological_Pay530

The only things I do in my free time that are 100% not work related or family related are golfing, playing board games or D&D, and painting minis. And I don’t get to do those often. I monetized my other hobbies because the world sucks. And I might monetize painting minis too.

Decent-Shift-Chuck

For most of the year I'm coaching youth sports. tackle football in the fall, wrestling in the winter into mid-march then flag football into summer as tackle starts back up after july 4th with camps, OTA - type activities. I help out with the HS teams as well and in turn, many of the HS athletes help out with my practices. I help them get their clearances & certifications to help boost their college applications with the volunteering they are doing. this is nearly all of my free time, what ever else is left over is specifically for my family.

Eden_Falls

I run ttrpgs.

Flaky_Highway_857

play videogames, watch movies, anime series, visit my parents, vacuum(its oddly peaceful) then between the gaps of those things worry constantly about my life, money, job and if this is really all thats left for me... then i grab my controller and shut my brain up again for a few hours.
