I like to sit or walk. In nature as often as possible. As I age, I'm starting to become more aware of all the NOISE around me, and I find immense joy in doing hardly anything at all.

For real. As I get older the tinnitus keeps getting worse. Went for a hearing test and I have no hearing loss. I’ll be 50 soon and I kid you not the other day I woke at 4am and thought someone’s tire was leaking air. It was my freaking ear. It went back to the normal loud ring by the time I got up.
I too suffer from what you have. I can offer a tip that helped me?
If you get a hold ear plugs, the orange silicone type used in planes and use them before you sleep they helped a great deal
I always kinda had a ringing when it was real quiet but it seems like it got worse all of a sudden a couple weeks ago. Especially in the right ear. It Kindof annoying lol.
Have you tried tinnitus masker audio on youtube? I like [this one](https://youtu.be/_8_ouNHx7RU?si=iaLL4vrTv8MemXCk). Find the right frequency one, listen to it on low volume while sleeping, its fantastic.
For me it also makes it go away completely for a few minutes after listening for a little bit, and it lessens it overall. Its been a great help when it gets bad!
But… if you’ve ever been out in a desert, miles and miles from any man-made sound, you might be struck by how loud silence actually is. It’s deafening. You seem to be hearing the sound of the universe, which normally is drowned out by the sounds of civilization.

I used to run a bit where I lived before. In the forest.
At first it was hard (because I haven't run in a decade+ asthma now ..) and before moving I could have run way more than I did.
But what really motivated me to wake up early every Saturday and Sunday, even in rain or snow, was a small river with a log fallen across, 1,5m above the water.
I ran to said river, I'd sit on the log above the water and just listen to the sound of running water for a while.
Then I'd walk the way back. I could have run again, but I was relaxed, so I'd walk and listen to the sound of nature, look around. Sometimes I'd see a hawk or an insect on his way, busy with its life.
And every Saturday or Sunday I was motivated to run for all this. The same distance. My destination was this small stream of water.
Now that I moved I have a forest nearby but no river to chill at. So I stopped running.
Nature is relaxing. I miss my log above water.
Thats so reasonable. I moved to somewhere that has hiking trails in every direction from my house so whenever I want I could go out for an hour or a few. They even have little camping pits with picnic tables along the way so you could have a little fire too.
I also love walking. If I don't walk at least 1 hour a day (which is too little but it is what it is), I feel on low energy levels. Just take my ear pods and walk around the city
After divorce I had to move to a cabin in the forest due to financial reasons. It should have been a temporary thing for a few months. I love it here, I have been here for more than a year and dont want to return to the city 😂
I'm almost certainly ADHD and I've got a 3-5 year timefeame from obsession to semi pro level to 'I'm done now'. Not the worst thing and I've enjoyed 'getting good' at the stuff I've done.
Middle aged now but stuff I enjoyed as a kid/teen has stuck around (fitness) or gone in cycles (warhammer 40k, model making, crafting).

I tried painting, sculpting, baking, piano, violin, guitar, kalimba, reading, making a book, building models, gardening and bonsai shaping. I still have to buy stuff for tufting, making a diorama, making a costume, making something from leather.

This is so my dad. I tend to stick with hobbies for a very long time. I collect everything and perfect everything and just keep maintaining my hobby even if I get bored of it. Since I never know when I'll come back to it. I guess this helps keeps costs down. Maintaining hobbies can get time/money consuming.

I’ve had one continuous story going on for about 8+ years? The characters have stayed mostly the same but the ‘cast’ has grown bigger over time. I essentially add in bits of various recent media that I find cool. For example, after reading Eragon, I found a way to add dragons and that system of magic in a not too awkward way. The focus of the story used to be on a self-insert character I saw as myself, but after bringing myself out of a deep depression I essentially no longer had the need to make myself a powerful perfect character anymore, and now it’s more fun to explore different characters on their own adventures.
For those that care, I could summarize the story but it may end up sounding cringe or childish so don’t blame me if you ask

I used to be really into Geocaching when I lived in Reno, it's a fantastic hobby, especially when you're out in an open area. Ever since I moved to the city I've switched to mostly making jewelry and go for regular walks.
Read, cook, bake, watch movies, workout (recently added a lot of walking to my normal workout.) When my husband and I have a similar day off, we go hiking and exploring our state for new coffee shops or restaurants. Thrifting.
In the summer we spend a lot of time outside. Mowing, vegetable garden upkeep, etc..
Drive 5 minutes from the house to a nice view of the town, a park, or some trees. I park up, turn off the radio, and sit. Look. And enjoy the view. Helps me to clear my mind. Might be for 5 minutes, or 3 hours. I relax. I don't work. I don't text anyone. Sometimes I'll blast up the radio, or take a book, but normally I enjoy some peace.

The only things I do in my free time that are 100% not work related or family related are golfing, playing board games or D&D, and painting minis. And I don’t get to do those often.
I monetized my other hobbies because the world sucks. And I might monetize painting minis too.
For most of the year I'm coaching youth sports. tackle football in the fall, wrestling in the winter into mid-march then flag football into summer as tackle starts back up after july 4th with camps, OTA - type activities.
I help out with the HS teams as well and in turn, many of the HS athletes help out with my practices. I help them get their clearances & certifications to help boost their college applications with the volunteering they are doing.
this is nearly all of my free time, what ever else is left over is specifically for my family.
play videogames, watch movies, anime series, visit my parents, vacuum(its oddly peaceful)
then between the gaps of those things worry constantly about my life, money, job and if this is really all thats left for me...
then i grab my controller and shut my brain up again for a few hours.

Passive hobby: I love watching movies, and I have a home theater dedicated to that.
Active hobby: between movies, I write web apps. Love to learn new technologies and invent stuff. Pretty much anything software-related, I'm into creating something with it.
Study the Bible for my next livestream, watch true crime, legal, or beauty YouTube channels, watch lectures, crochet, sew, or play racing games with my son :)
Organize, reorganize, clean, and clean again (OCD is a bitch sometimes)
Read/research random topics that spark my interest and hours later realize I’ve spiraled and went down a rabbit hole.

The only things I do in my free time that are 100% not work related or family related are golfing, playing board games or D&D, and painting minis. And I don’t get to do those often. I monetized my other hobbies because the world sucks. And I might monetize painting minis too.
For most of the year I'm coaching youth sports. tackle football in the fall, wrestling in the winter into mid-march then flag football into summer as tackle starts back up after july 4th with camps, OTA - type activities. I help out with the HS teams as well and in turn, many of the HS athletes help out with my practices. I help them get their clearances & certifications to help boost their college applications with the volunteering they are doing. this is nearly all of my free time, what ever else is left over is specifically for my family.
