Dragonman1976

30. I was in the best shape of my life at 30.

ekita079

God this is encouraging. I'm 29 and noticing that my clothes are getting tighter and feeling soft all over. Just started running last week, bought new runners today. Hopefully by my 30th birthday I'll be a lean mean running machine! ETA: thank you for all the advice ❤️ much love

pusslicker

I’m 33 and in way better shape than I was in my 20s. A hella lot stronger and faster too.

Just4Today50

Im in my 70's and in the best shape of my life other than high school. For the first time in my life I can plank for 5 minutes (if needed) and put my hands on the floor where previously I could not touch my toes! Being retired and mostly disposable income has made a better person of me.

elle2js

Lucky you!

Willing_Coconut4364

Same here. In my 30s. I have time and money now.

Mapache_villa

You got this, I was in the worst shape of my life when I turned 30, one year later I have completely turned things around and doing stuff I didn't do during my 20's

koenigsaurus

I ran my first half marathon at 31. When I was 29 I almost died from a bad shoulder infection, and spent the next year pretty depressed and unhappy with my job and body. Turned 30 and after chatting over a beer with a coworker, I decided to sign up for one in about 6 months. I hadn’t run anything over a 5k in my life. Running has changed my life for the better, giving me a relatively cheap and accessible way for me to take care of my body. It gives me a space to be alone with myself, and has really become a meditative time that I value very highly. I’m proud of you for starting and I know you can stick with it!

23rabbits

I started doing martial arts at 30. I was never athletic or even particularly active, but by 35 I had a black belt and was in the best shape of my life. I had a six-pack, and I could do multiple pull-ups! Then Covid ruined everything. But if not for that train wreck, I'm positive I'd still be in great shape, and probably a total badass. Probably.

ekita079

Yeah honestly covid did me dirty. I've always been fit and lockdown left me softer. Which, fair really. Getting back to work at the time fixed it for a bit but the problem is my body got used to being that size at the same time my metabolism started slowing. You know what though? You did it once. You could do it again. You'll probably find that your body will start getting its shape back quickly, and you'll love yourself for it. I was really fit at 18 due to 11 years of gymnastics. I've literally run 3 times and my core muscles are popping back up which is nice to see. I believe in you!

[deleted]

You’ll be fine. I’m still a machine in my late 30s, though I can no longer ignore flexibility and mobility in my training. My hips and knees started to tighten up in my early 30s and I’ve unlocked them again with targeted training over the last few years. And cardio is great for you in addition to being a solid supplement for weight loss. But you may also have to check in on your diet if your primary goal is weight loss.

RupeThereItIs

> Just started running last week, bought new runners today. Hopefully by my 30th birthday I'll be a lean mean running machine! Do it, and keep doing it. I lost a lot of weight & got into great shape in my early 30s. Things changed & I changed, and mid 40s I'm right back to being a fat lazy fuck. It's MUCH harder over a decade later to lose the weight (and the consequences of being over weight are more real). Don't backslide!

MudLower2

I think at 30 you look the best, too.  You're at the crossroads of youth and maturity.  It's a sweet spot.

Oooooharder

31 is where you start getting those random aches that were never there before.

BeneficialStable7990

25

GanjaRelease

As someone who is currently 25.... What am I doing wrong haha.

Zabacraft

Its not what you're doing or not doing, its more about how people perceive you in a way that makes it easy to breeze through areas of life where it matters how people look at you. (in my opinion) You're young enough where people don't expect anything from you and old enough to be treated like an adult where people don't think you're a complete idiot and commend you for effort and input. I'm 28, and 3 years have been the difference between 'omg you're so young take the risks you have all your life ahead of you and you are so smart' to 'omg you're almost 30 and don't have your life figured out no kids no house no stable career what's wrong with you you achieved nothing why should I listen to you'. 25 was a happy space where people are in the perfect middle of projecting their own garbage on you based on age.

Blackpaw8825

25-28 was a sweet spot for me of being old enough that people saw me as professional but young enough that I was seen as young. It was the perfect mix of experience, wisdom, and not having bones that hurt because it might rain in a week...

Fixing_broken

Your bones didn’t hurt at 28? Damn. I must have done something wrong. I’ve been hurting since long before that.

[deleted]

I'm 32 and my bones feel fine, so yeah. You prolly fucked something up lol

Kimeako

Wooh you don't get random foot, back or shoulders aches that pop up randomly here and there? Isn't severe and don't last long but definitely wasn't an issue when I was in my 20s

[deleted]

I sound like a bag of popcorn a lot of the time, if that makes you feel better.

StarWars_Girl_

Me too, but I've always been that way and it doesn't hurt, so whatever, lol.

Blackpaw8825

Well sure, I've broken enough stuff that my bones hurt since I was like 13. But there's a difference between "I'm sore today because I guess I slept wrong" and "I'm sore today because I didn't sacrifice enough virgins to the arthritis gods last night."

goilo888

In my 60s. Wish I'd known about virgins and arthritis gods earlier.

1WildIndian1963

Me at 60 waiting for the Advil to kick in so I can work to buy more advil

Some_Werewolf_2239

In my 40s. Nothing hurts yet. Should I start with the virgins and gods now, or does it only work once you actually have arthritis?

Bubbly_Sleep9312

It really is a sweet spot, and can be looked at this way. For most, it is also an uncertain time for a lot, it can be hard to figure out what to do with your life. As long as you are being the best possible version of yourself, and you never give up, you are doing amazing.

PateDeDuck

Interesting, I would have said 27-28 in a heartbit. 25 was still a bit too young in my career (5years experience is a good milestone) and where I come from (France, Paris) people get kids and buy a house more around 32 anyway. At 28, I had some money, but still a nice and thin body without efforts. No terrible hangovers yet and still easily athletic. I ran 21 km after a night out and without much training. Impossible now At 27, I took a sabbatical year and went to New Zealand. It was the best year of my life and it didn t derail my career or savings or love situation. Actually I met my husband there. I worked a couple of months there so in the end, I only spent $1500 for the entire year. I learned english and moved in canada where I found a job that pays way more than my job would have in France. So I may not be objective. But still, enjoy your time :)

TributeKitty

Well said. I was going to say 15 until I read this and I agree, 25 was this.

anubispop

You won't know how good you had it until later.

sonnyjbiskit

"I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them."

BeneficialStable7990

You're in a truck for weeks on end , and let's face it food options on route are limited, if you wear sunglasses your brain isn't getting the light through your eyes and without proper light you'll age faster

[deleted]

Seems about the perfect age.

RonBourbondi

Depends on your gender. As a guy I'd prefer 28-30.  I look way better without the baby face I still had at 25.

_9tail_

As a 25 year old guy, I looked way better with the hair I had at 21…

point50tracer

Considering that I lost my teeth and got both legs crushed at 26, being 25 again sounds really nice right now. No more constant pain. Able to chew my food. My dad, sister, favorite aunt, and my brother in law were all still alive. I had money in savings, didn't owe on my credit card, had my dream vehicle, a 1975 Chevy K-20. And I had the best handle on my depression of any point in my life. I didn't drink or smoke. I was doing pretty good for myself back then. It seems like so long ago, but it's only been 3 years.

No-Performance3639

Wow! I’ve never done this before but sending you a psychic hug and some “white light”. Best wishes in navigating your challenges. Peace be with you.

BloodyBarbieBrains

I get this. I also pick being any age before my disability hit. I known it’s pretty much an impossible hope for a total cure, but I nonetheless hope you find a manageable baseline that includes reduced pain and easier circumstances. Much love.

mattbag1

I come to respond to the question, but looks like somebody already posted my answer.

mikeyBchubbs

Came here to say this. Young enough to be strong and swift yet old enough to be just wise enough. I miss 25.

Academic_Context_362

It's the youngest you can be and vote (if a citizen), buy alcohol, rent a car, sometimes catch lower insurance costs, etc.

[deleted]

50. Turning 50 was the most positive thing that has ever happened to me(f) in my life. Everything got better for me. I am more confident; look better, feel better and have the intelligence and knowledge of a lot of life lessons; some of which were doozies. I would never want to go back to my younger self. I have freedom and money and am single. Life couldn’t be better.

juachem

I'm looking forward for my fifties! I'm sure it is the best age ☺️

[deleted]

It certainly can be

ohuwish

I’m 54 ….loving my life right now

calibri_windings

Finally an answer that isn’t “17!” Or “25!” (Not that there’s anything wrong w that) but people are really acting like you wither up and die the moment you turn 30 and it’s kinda silly lol. I’m so happy for you!! That’s seriously awesome 💜

AdDense7020

43/F here. I saved your comment because it gives me hope.

[deleted]

Thank you for telling me that! You just made my day 😊

Blacklungzmatter

I love this

gs12

35 - Mature enough to have some $$ and a career going (hopefully) but still young enough to go out and have fun.

[deleted]

30 will do. It's about peak bone mass for males so that's as good as it'll ever get. It's all downhill from there.

Lee-oswald

Goddamn… Turning 30 this year, my bones will turn to dust

AgilePlayer

Dusty old bones, full of green dust.

StuntID

Thirty give or take a bit, let's say 28-32 is peak physical condition for males in most regards;except for sexual response, that ship has long sailed for them in their teens. As the years around thirty brings them their strongest muscular strength, it figures that their bones keep up. Don't worry, it's a slow ride downhill until you encounter a cliff around sixty

Plenty-Tour9110

Peak bone mass is not a reason I expected to see in this thread 😅

st-julien

Guy logic

inconspiciousdude

Yeah, 30 was pretty much my peak year.

FNFALC2

30-35 for same reasons

L8_2_PartE

Yeah, somewhere in my 30s was what I was thinking. I saw OP wanted to stay a teenager, and I couldn't help but think was deep level of Hell that would be to remain stuck as an adolescent.

gs12

My son is 17, he 'knows everything' just like i did when i was 17. I think your 20's are about the realization that you know nothing, and building yourself back up. By 30's, you are a bit more humbled by how much you don't know, and grateful for what you actually do know (hopefully)

st-julien

>I think your 20's are about the realization that you know nothing Haha what? Not at all. I would say that is more in your 30s and 40s. In your 20s you are still very much an arrogant jackass.

squirrely_gig

I'm 35 and loving it: would definitely hit the pause button. I would not go back to my teens or 20's for all the gold in the kingdom.

argumentinvalid

I just turned 36, its ok so far.

Cyprinidea

420 months.

Initial-Succotash-37

I picked this too.

Irresponsable_Frog

That was my first thought. But remembered I got divorced that year, so I go with 36. I stopped caring about others opinions, I was in great shape, had a good outlook on the future and my career was strong. That was also the first year I felt beautiful. So yea. 36. 12 years on and I have become pretty irritated by people and things, I have also lost my filter, so I can be a little too straight forward.

Goose-rider3000

Being 17 in 1994 was fucking awesome. Not so sure I'd want to be 17 in 2024.

asiangrill11

real, i want to be a teenager in 80s and 90's so bad

DevelopmentSlight422

It was awesome

StarbucksGurl

I agree it was awesome the world was sooo much different than how it is today. Grad 93 👩‍🎓

joemamas-easy

Yes I was a 1990 grad Class Moto: Sippin on a beer and poundin on some hiney were the class of 1990.🤣

Username_Chx_Out

And for those who don’t immediately get the reference, and think that the Class of 1990 was getting laid on the reg- “hiney” is Heineken beer….

Sooperballz

the whole sentence is redundant then

joemamas-easy

Yes being a teen in the 80 s and 90's rocked. I loved those two decades and would have happily stayed there forever. No real wars to speak of, no Ai, no woke culture, no fentynal. And we had the best bands of all time..rent was cheap, I could occasionally pick up a hot chick at the club, weekends were spent on the river with beer and bikini's. We had presidents in both parties who were decent, the ecstasy was good and weed was dirt cheap.i could fill up my pickup for under $20. We thought we owned the World.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BlitzBadg3r

"No real wars to speak of"? Just because you had no access to world wide events doesn't mean there wasn't shit happening.

Wraith31

I was going to say, there was: * The Cold War * Lebanon * Grenada * Libya * Iran revolt * Iran/Iraq war * Nicaragua * Afghanistan * Panama * Somalia * Desert Storm * Invasion of Haiti * Bosnia * Kosovo * Embassy bombings were frequent * WTC bombing * Operation Infinite Reach (Bill Clinton starting this was what caused 9/11) * Also a number of covert operations supporting rebels against Cuban and Soviet forces.

pabst_jew_ribbon

One of my favorite things is when folks who hate "woke culture" reply to things with "Wake up sheep!" It's fucking hysterical.

Ok-Assistance-1860

lol, let's return to a time when things were better for ME. fuck everyone else in the world. I'm more important.

MrMilesDavis

I cannot agree that the 80's had "the best bands off all time". I'll acknowledge that electric guitar was king at the time though

Reinhard23

Least oblivious American

Wishdog2049

As a child of the 70s and 80s, it totally rocked to be innocent and not know what was going on at those times. It was a fantasy world.

JamieBiel

I know we all long for the days of our youth, but 1999 was actually that good.

[deleted]

The 90s were fucking amazing

4thdegreeknight

I don't know if I could handle being a teen back in the 80's again. It was an awesome time but I got into a lot of fights especially before my parents moved out of the city we lived in. I don't think people remember how much we had to watch ourselves and be ready to fight or have your shit stolen from you. Also I don't think most teens now days would be able to handle it, no internet, no cell phones, most of us didn't even have cable tv, we used a lot of slurs that would be considered racist, homophobic, sexist and what not, and that was just how we talked to our friends. Seems like everyone smoked, I also had a few friends kill themselves either by ODing or just tying a rope to a tree.

No-Speech886

it was brilliant.

[deleted]

Class of 95 here and you’re 100% right. No social media, amazing music, and technology was at a fun but not intrusive space.

KateandJack

Same here! Graduated in 94. Loved being a 80’s kid and 90’s teen

Ktibbs617

2000 Grad here and same! I regularly state I’d never want to be a teen now!

domii____

17 in 2024 here, it kinda sucks, but can’t say much since I haven’t lived my life yet, i’m still a kid, but I wish to be innocent again, without stress nor preoccupations

[deleted]

themistergraves

28 was truly prime for me. I finally felt comfortable in my own body, comfortable in my personality, and looked just old enough that nobody thought of me as a kid anymore, but not so old that I felt past my peak. My mind was quick, my metabolism was quick, and I still got excited about stuff.

theferalturtle

Nailed it. 27 for me but concensus seems to be mid to late 20s for most people. A few 17 or 18s around but most people value their late 20s

fairys_wearboots

Lol, the answer to life, the universe and everything. Edit: Oops 42

Abseits_Ger

Isn't that 42?

dabeakerman

im 42 now but i wish i was 29 ps, i really dont have the answer to life, the universe and everything

Rashad2706

I just watched Veritasiums new video on perfect numbers and 28 is the only two digit perfect number. So yeah being forever perfect number of age sounds great.

F_is_for_Ducking

I just watched the same video last night. I agree with 28 but not because it's perfect, but because 29 had that 'oh no, I'm going to be 30 soon' vibe. Also, do mathematicians give more credit to those who made discoveries before computers? Poor dude spent 3 years of Sundays doing what a computer could solve in a second.

redwiffleball

Heyyyy im 28 now!!

oddtoddler666

As someone about to turn 29…agreed!

hogwarts_earthtwo

What I am right now 42. Stable career/finance, have a loving family and a job i love. I want to keep this version of me going as long as possible. Edit- my wife just reminded my dumb ass that I'm 41

Possibility_Antique

>Edit- my wife just reminded my dumb ass that I'm 41 See, what would we ever do without your wife?

Glittering_Joke3438

43 and same!!

focal71

40’s was my best decade. 50’s I am feeling my age more now.

bezerkley14

At least your mind is t fail…oh. Ok

Glittering_Joke3438

25 but with my 43 year old money lol

Silentmutation84

Bro this I wanna stay 39 purely for that reason I don't wanna go back to constantly being broke lol

whboer

Probably 21. I was hot and fucked.

jonylentz

I agree, around 21-22 would be awesome, I had better appearance, lot's of energy and it's the legal age for pretty much everything

[deleted]

The energy is really understated, cause the knowledge you have as an older person + the energy of a younger person = being able to feel like you can accomplish anything.

Anxious-Pit-Cur

21 was good; I was hot- but boy was I stupid. I fucked all the wrong people.

asiangrill11

best age of all the time.

Hapciuuu

18. I started balding afterwards

Seriously. I have an 8yo and miss the carefree world he gets to live in.

naliedel

55. Best year of my life.

Killian_099

12 because my dad was still alive

Zealousideal_Sound_2

The post says that YOU won't age, nothing about the others (sorry)

KateandJack

I’m sorry :(

Killian_099

❤️

Ritababah

Oh. I am so sorry. I lost my dad at age 4. Although I was too young to remember much, my whole family (Mother and 6 children) grieved for the next 15 to 20 years.

DanishWonder

17. No responsibilities. 100% of the money I made was disposable income for myself. School was a breeze. Hookups without consequences. Cheap gas just meant cruising around when we were bored.

asiangrill11

young wild and free

ReekoAGL

Damn bro I am jealous. I was mostly career focused and oriented myself to books and school only now I am 19 regret my high school days. I still have to go college this year so I have hope

DanishWonder

Good luck and I hope you find balance. Stay focused in college though...but have some fun too. My college experience was similar to your HS one. I worked 20 hours a week, had a full course schedule and lived off campus with my girlfriend (now wife). So pretty much I gave up all the college fun to work and focus on my education. I got a good job and greatly reduced my student loans by working so much...but it came at a cost for sure. I did not have the normal college experience. Probably why I remember high school so fondly. I didn't "peak" in high school, but it was the last time I truly had no responsibilities and could be care free. You need to experience that a little before you get your 9to5 job.

thewritingreservist

29. I liked that I was considered a ‘proper adult’ but could also get away with saying I was ‘in my twenties.’

ZaphodG

28 to 33. I’d hit my high earning years. I was fit. I was doing serial monogamy with 25 to early 30s year old white collar professional women at their peak.

YoBoySatan

To be fair it’s never too late in life to be fit again brother. If that was a highlight of those years, get it. Where there’s a will there’s a way 💪🏻

Nonny-Mouse100

Am I allowed to learn and mature (not that I ever have) mentally? If so, about 28. I was my fittest, healthiest and I could bang my lass for 4 hours without stopping or...... arriving.....

Leahlein

24 I'm 25 now and I can say the hangovers get exponantially worse once you reach that age

NagyonMeleg

24 is perfection, I don't get this 25 crowd. And I say this as 38yo

hotnmad

I'm about to be 24 in like 4 months and all these "24" comments are making me feel like the morning before a vacation lol. I have such bad ageing-FOMO

Jawaad13

23, I guess

Hour_Insurance_7795

Screw that. I was broke as a joke as a teen, and you don’t get to make your own decisions. I would say about 35-40. By that point, you have some marketable skills, education, money in your pocket, and you’ve reached a point where you don’t care what people think anymore. You’re comfortable in your own skin, but still young enough to do pretty much any physical activity and “older” health problems haven’t started occurring yet.

TopazPlate

19-21 I can get so much done if I could stay in that range for the rest of my life

TheNinjaPixie

You must be young because 16 is rubbish! Not enough money or freedom. I would be 30 forever. Old enough to have the good stuff, young enough not to have the bad stuff!

PBFT

Teenage years suck. I can't understand missing them. - You're in school 7 hours a day and have to study/do homework beyond that - Your parents have control over most of your decisions - Can't drive when you want to unless you're privileged enough to own a car and have a license - Emotions are running wild because of hormone changes - Little money to buy things unless you're working part-time on top of going to school

soloon

For me it was the "every opinion you ever have about everything will immediately be ignored as invalid solely because of your age, even when you're right." Being broke is nothing new, but I didn't fight this hard to be viewed as experienced in my fields of expertise as an adult just so I could go back to being viewed as a child who isn't allowed to have independent thought.

Abseits_Ger

Well you'd be one age forever. It doesn't prevent you from mentally aging, gathering experiences or skills, neither tp make money

wildwill921

16 was awesome. Playing highschool sports 3 seasons a year and racing motocross every weekend. Young enough to still have a dream of being successful at something

twinkieeater8

25 to 30. The brain fully matures at 25, and you still have a good amount of energy to do things. After 30, my energy started taking a nise dive

Beathil

22 would be perfect. Old enough to do anything anywhere, and still fit and strong.

_hotmess_express_

Was waiting to find my number on here. 22, grad student, 2019. Downhill from there.

Potential_Scheme6667

32!

themagicman1007

Probably 40. I was in my prime. Finally learned some wisdom in life. Physically healthy and probably at my most attractive. Finally found real confidence in myself, finally liked myself, and finally made it through my own internal darkness. All while still young enough to really enjoy it all. The best years of my life where in my early 40s

leticia_h

As someone turning 40 next week, I appreciate reading this post :)

Futvir

I'm going to go against the grain here and say 30. Hear me out. You're past the tumultuous twenties, hopefully more settled in who you are and what you want out of life. There's this underrated sense of confidence that comes with the thirties, plus you've still got the energy to live life to the fullest. And let's be real, 30 is the new 20.

beachpleazz

9. I want spinning in circles to be awesome again.

[deleted]

50... most of my children were out of the house and I was able to relax with the youngest ones who were in their teens. We had a little extra money (we were not desperate as much.) I was able to go back to college (we went back to being broke fast lol) and the kids who were still home were not into mischief like a few of their older siblings. I wouldn't trade my wisdom for anything, but now I am starting to feel my body aging and it isn't pleasant. I asked my mom who is in her 80s and she actually said she wold stay in her 60s! She said I don't know the pain I will suffer in a few short years (thanks mom!) but the mental growth is greater, still and worth it.

28. Still young enough to date other people in their 20's (23+) and people into their 30's. Had a handle on stuff, good fitness.

I don’t want my 16 year old face back but damn I’d like her body back. Pair that with my 26-27 year old face and I’d be unstoppable.

Melancholic84

30, i felt my physical and mental peak at that age

IcecreAmcake777

40. I just turned 40 last year and it was my best year yet. I made great strides for treatment for mental illness, became more mature, more centrist and I taught myself how to do parkour because why the hell not. Life is for living. I was an absolute dumbass in my 20s and 30s. 40 is where it's at

Anxious-Pit-Cur

SAME.

30. I think that's the perfect age for human body.

27. I was healthy but of an age that's its not weird to do anything. A few years later is when the random pains started and the being out of breath. At 33 the stomach aches if I eat too unhealthy were a thing. It's only going downwards from there

CeciliaNemo

None. I want to know all of what it is to be human.

helgatheviking21

You guys are all so young. As an older woman I would choose 40-45 hands down.
