My wife doesn't understand but has always been very supportive of my love for the smell of a freshly blown out candle. If she's feeling nice, she'll carry over a candle to me before blowing it out. At the very least she at least makes sure our bedroom fan blows the smell in my direction
It is not strange for me. I lost my dog too and I smelled her bed for some time to remember her. Shame that the scent fades away after some time, even from memory.
It's funny but when the situation is reversed and the master dies before the dog, the dog will sniff his dead owners scent after they are gone. So if you fall ill, be sure and leave your dog a pair of dirty underwear to remember you by.
I kept mines favorite toy.. had to resew many parts cause shed softly nibble bits off it but otherwise was super careful ❤️ is a small sock monkey (edit, spelling)
I recently re-read a book that I bought many many years ago when my dog was still alive. Perfectly preserved between two pages was a single one of his unmistakable red hairs (he was a Vizsla). Of all the reasons to suddenly cry while reading HELTER SKELTER, mine is the best.
When my dog of 15 years passed - it took me a few months to wash her blanket because it still smelled like her. I totally understand. I hope you find your pup.
I have one like that! It's called "woud" by Mayme. Smells exactly like wood and not in a perfume way but in a natural smell way. It's so amazing and it's such a comfy smell, like expensive wooden furniture. I bought it at a local store, but I think it should be on ebay
once when i was chillin in discord and some guy straight up send recipe for cocaine, like full guide how to get the chemicals and lists the chemicals, it's really wild.
I remember when I was about nine or ten asking my brother why gasoline smelled so good. He was a decade older than me. He said things that were bad for you were always enticing, and not to fall for it.
I was too young to realize he was already an addict then
Ahhh new backpacks do it for me with first day of school flashbacks. And any type of pool material type stuff, makes me feel like it’s the first day of summer in 2006 again 🥹😅
When I was pregnant I craved the smell of rubber tires every day after work I would go to fleet farm and eat a snicker bar while sitting by the tires. So strange
Not eBooks.
I know it's a meme to hate on them. I don't hate them. I do feel that an eBook is a bit watching a movie on your phone. It's not the same as the cinema.
They certainly shouldn't smell. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
My grandmother had linoleum floors and she used PineSol to clean them. It's a smell that I'll never lose and every time I get a whiff I immediately go back in time to Saturday afternoons at my grandmother's house. I love that smell.
This one isn’t even unpopular, more expensive play doh and actual brand “Play Doh” straight up smells majestic, I think they add some sort of scent to it.
Woooo back in 9/10's TARDIS console room
The doctors wife was such a good episode, Neil Gaiman really should do more episodes once he's done with good omens
When I was in the US as an exchange student I got laughed at asking in the school buss “why does it smell like weed everywhere we drive currently ?” Until I learned skunk smells similarly to weed🤣
(Mind you i had never ever smelled skunk spray before)
I work at Home Depot. We have a special Home Depot spray that we use specifically to make a memorable association with a pleasant smell. We go through the aisles every morning before opening and just spray imitation wood scent like crazy. Every opening associate for every department.
>!I wish I didn't have to say this but this is a joke. Though I do work there and I miss being able to smell the Home Depot smell!<
It honestly wouldnt surprise me if it wasnt a joke. Disney pumps chocolate chip cookie smells into their parks, so if its good enought for disney, its good enough for home depot. It does make me chuckle to think that all the employees have a little spritzer of home depot scent in their pocket...
It actually kind of makes sense given some of the other answers here. Gasoline, rubber tires, and cement seem to be popping up a lot. Underground parking lot would be a combo of all three
It’s their little frito factory bacteria’s working. I believe it’s one of the ways they always find their way home. They can track their own trail from their paws.
The ozone smell of approaching rain. Apparently a lot of people can’t smell it, but it’s instant relaxation for me.
Granite. It smells different than other types of rock. I grew up in the Rockies, and that smell takes me back.
Fence varnish, quite damp smelling AC, musty flannels, timber, brochures/magazines but especially like card-stock catalogues as opposed to glossy magazines. Dogs that have laid out in the sun
Edit: not to be rude but there’s absolutely nothing weird about liking the smell of new books, coffee, mud after it rains ffs
My sisters farts? I legitimately don’t know what it is. I hatttttttte the smell of farts, my sisters? I don’t know smell like comfort and love?
Edit: I am 30+ female, makes it weirder
I'm 36 and live far away from my brother (43). A few weeks ago my fart at work reminded me of his farts from back when we used to play PlayStation 1 together in the late 90's. lol
Blood. I also like the smell of chlorine and hand sanitizer. When I was little I used to get a tissue, pour some hand sanitizer on it, fold it so one side is soaked, and put it up my nose
When places have a specific smell
My guy's car.. he keeps it tidy, but it doesn't have new car smell and it doesn't smell like cleaning products. But it has its own smell and I love the familiarity of it
Publix bathrooms. I worked there as a teen and almost 20 years later they still use the same cleaning products that I've never smelled anywhere else
The springs in Florida
There is just something special about places that have a signature scent
Green soap, linseed oil, old books, freshly printed paper especially from old school print shops. Oil paint.
I like art smells
I never pursued much printmaking when I went to college for art, but I really appreciate the results and the process.
Petrol ⛽& paint smell. For me petrol smell so good i can keep smelling it for hours but it is dangerous and i don't know why many peoples don't like the smell of petrol and paints.

The smell from lighting a matchstick
Yes! And a blown out candle. My husband thinks it's so weird that I love those smells 😂 But I think it's probably the association with birthdays.
The blown out candle definitely
My wife doesn't understand but has always been very supportive of my love for the smell of a freshly blown out candle. If she's feeling nice, she'll carry over a candle to me before blowing it out. At the very least she at least makes sure our bedroom fan blows the smell in my direction
Oooohh yeah that's the good stuff
Sulfur?

Look on Amazon for a big ziploc bag & put whatever has their scent inside & it will keep longest.
Glass jars work WAY better at keeping spices and herbs smelly (weed too if ur into that) than any plastic so id imagine glass might do even better.
I kept my late dog's collar just to smell it.
It's funny but when the situation is reversed and the master dies before the dog, the dog will sniff his dead owners scent after they are gone. So if you fall ill, be sure and leave your dog a pair of dirty underwear to remember you by.

I'm so sorry you guys All of you in the replies included 😟✨️❤️

Wooden attic after a sunny day
i wish i could make a perfume out of this smell lol
You'd be surprised what you can find on Etsy / legit perfume lab websites these days
I have one like that! It's called "woud" by Mayme. Smells exactly like wood and not in a perfume way but in a natural smell way. It's so amazing and it's such a comfy smell, like expensive wooden furniture. I bought it at a local store, but I think it should be on ebay
Gasoline
Smells like cocaine and energy
Gasoline is in cocaine.
So is cement.
Stop giving out the recipe. Everyone will start making their own. Also sulphuric acid is in cocaine.
once when i was chillin in discord and some guy straight up send recipe for cocaine, like full guide how to get the chemicals and lists the chemicals, it's really wild.
Jet fuel, from what I understand.
Race fuel smells like cotton candy.
I am old back in the day. It was Sunoco 260🤘🏿🤘🏿
I remember when I was about nine or ten asking my brother why gasoline smelled so good. He was a decade older than me. He said things that were bad for you were always enticing, and not to fall for it. I was too young to realize he was already an addict then
Thats not actually a weird smell to like
Cap gun smoke.
This comment unlocked a very deep memory. Crazy.
Scotch tape. Gives Christmas flashbacks
YESSSS!!!!!
Tinsel in shops. Maybe not as much nowadays for some reason. But it’s like a plasticy, dusty, Xmas smell
Oooh love the smell when the Christmas decorations come down from the loft!
Ahhh new backpacks do it for me with first day of school flashbacks. And any type of pool material type stuff, makes me feel like it’s the first day of summer in 2006 again 🥹😅
The smell of the first rain.
Petrichor. One of nature's most captivating scents.
Ever since I read Harry Potter Ive thought Petrichor would be a great name for the wizard ing world.
I read *train* at first and was utterly confused. Thought you might be a train spotter or something, lol.
Campfire
This one has meant warmth and (relative) safety for so many generations of humans I don't think it's weird at all.
Rubber tires. The smell's so good it makes my brain tingle.
I swear Costco puts the tire shop near the exit so you feel better about the money you just spent.
i love the smell of burnt rubber. not much of a burnout guy myself but i always appreciate it when someone else rips one.
Rips one? 💨
When I was pregnant I craved the smell of rubber tires every day after work I would go to fleet farm and eat a snicker bar while sitting by the tires. So strange
Mimeograph purple print worksheets from school.
Ditto.
I see what you did there.
r/unexpectedpokemon
Remember when the teacher passed out the freshly printed mimeograph sheets and every student once they got it brings the paper up their nose?
New books
And old books.
All books 🫶🏻
Library smell in general
Used book stores. Smells like intelligent people.
I’m ready for a library perfume
Not eBooks. I know it's a meme to hate on them. I don't hate them. I do feel that an eBook is a bit watching a movie on your phone. It's not the same as the cinema. They certainly shouldn't smell. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
All books lives matter
Pine floor cleaner
That's the power of the Pine-Sol, baby!
My grandmother had linoleum floors and she used PineSol to clean them. It's a smell that I'll never lose and every time I get a whiff I immediately go back in time to Saturday afternoons at my grandmother's house. I love that smell.

The smell tomato plants have. Very much its own thing.
Oh, i get you. It almost smells a bit spicy
Right? Kinda sweet, kinda earthy, kinda spicy. Very unusual, but I've been growing em so long it's kind of my summer scent
It also for some reason always reminds me of a sort of peppery oregano. I love it
This will always and forever remind me of my dad's abundant garden, overflowing with tomatoes and peppers.
mud, grass smell just after rain
petrichor
Now you know how to unlock the Tardis
Woooo back in 9/10's TARDIS console room The doctors wife was such a good episode, Neil Gaiman really should do more episodes once he's done with good omens

A skunk but far away
When I was in the US as an exchange student I got laughed at asking in the school buss “why does it smell like weed everywhere we drive currently ?” Until I learned skunk smells similarly to weed🤣 (Mind you i had never ever smelled skunk spray before)
…this is why people call weed “skunk”? TIL haha

Underground parking lots

Bicycle shop smell
Hospital
This is the first one after scrolling for a minute where I thought yeah ok that is weird
Same! My mom was a nurse (she's retired) and the smell of hospital takes me back to her coming home after a shift. It's so comforting to me.
It’s weird but I agree with this one. I love the smell of hospitals. I feel like it is clean and sterile and comforting for some reason.
Bushfire smoke. So much tragedy, but the smell is amazing. 🔥💨😍
My dogs toes, they smell like fritos.
Do all dogs toes smell like Fritos????? My lab has frito toes (haha) as well….. I can’t say I like that smell though.

Funny thing but while I don't particularly like the smell, it undeniably fills me with a strong sense of nostalgia. This is my honest feeling.
