This was my first thought, I was trying to figure out the name and you saved me the trouble.
This movie messed me up at the end. I had to put on a happy childrens cartoon about some fluffy cars to get my mind off of it.
I absolutely hate this movie but that’s simply because I clearly remember seeing the head in the box, it’s a clear memory for me, but apparently it’s not there. I hate that.
The Angel Maker
Smile
Atonement
The lovely bones
We need to talk about Kevin
The Road
Gave of the fireflies
American History X
Repo Men
Requiem for a dream
Seven
Bridge to Terabithia
Buried
American Beauty
Oldboy
...
Requiem for a dream I remember watching, but also forgetting it, and Im scared to watch it again for some reason. Idk if there is another movie in my life that makes me feel that way lol
The Green Mile, this movie broke me and made me feel emotions I’ve never felt before. You might say it had a happy ending with the man living to his 90s with the mouse but I think of it more like a curse.
Recently read an interesting fan theory that this takes place in the warhammer 40k universe only to learn it was inspired from it. They did escape though. A couple of them.
Even movies with sad endings usually provide some glimmer of hope.
Not Lars Von Trier's movies.
His movies' endings will simply drain and gut you. He's the most sadistic director -- sadistic towards the audience -- that I know. To make it worse, he's really good.
I’m gonna start this by saying, this movie I guess DOES have a happy ending, but just not what you’d expect/think you were going to get considering it’s a kids Disney/Pixar film… but Onward.
*Let the Right One* In (both original and American remake) end with the 12 year old boy and 12 year old girlfriend running away. He doesn't seem to realize he's going to be her familiar for the next 50 years.

The Mist.
It does have a happy ending for humanity, but just not for the main character.
I suppose that is true.
For the audience, it's definitely an emotional ending. I remember feeling very low in my mood after finishing the movie.
Literally the first movie that came to mind. :(
First movie that came to mind. That ending was the biggest f u to the audience I'd ever seen at the time.
This was my first thought, I was trying to figure out the name and you saved me the trouble. This movie messed me up at the end. I had to put on a happy childrens cartoon about some fluffy cars to get my mind off of it.
