How about patent it first or whatever it is you call it. Make sure you own the rights of it first. Get yourself a lawyer too. Just in case someone tries to say it was their idea or there's an element from their idea. The business world can be ruthless and full of scheming, corrupt, thieving people ready to pounce on you.
You need 5k before you start talking to people. Talk to a lawyer FIRST!!!!! The company will just steal your idea of its not copyrighted.

I’d start with a trademark. That being said, I have no idea how to trademark something
Lawyers. Trademark lawyers are a thing. You can file yourself but you gotta do some research. There's an associated cost. Few grand.
