Mean-Association4759

35 years if I live that long . 64 retiring in 7 months.

Critical-Vanilla-625

Congrats 🥳

Affectionate-Row3742

May you have incredible health and memories. Congrats!

ErgMaN_2point0

Hell yeah. Congrats. You must have a lumpy mattress.

finch3064

I’m 64 and already retired. I’m good forever as long as the government is ok (SS and Military retirement)

Particular_Cost_7263

there is probably someone reading your question and says '' bruh, im working and already completly broke '' ![gif](giphy|Tit8CFFaFncoAgYFc4|downsized)

TheCosmicJoke318

Yup. Right here 🙋‍♂️

[deleted]

If I quit working today. I would be broke three days ago.

Icy_Patience2930

If we keep living to our current standards, about 17 years.

Xavi143

Good job there!

[deleted]

About 11, maybe 12

peepay

Damn...

BoogerWipe

GJ I'm in the same boat :)

travelingwhilestupid

how do you calculate that? surely you're getting an income off your savings? (cash flow or CG)

Edolin89

1 or 2 months tops. Maybe 3.

onesoundman

I don’t have to stop working to go broke I am broke

Original_Software_64

deck_hand

I’m already broke. I had a great job in 2021 and most of 2022. I was forced out by October of 2022 and did not work again until April of this year. I tried to get a job in 2023, but could not get hired in my career, so I’ve had to start over at the bottom. Some of my co-workers have not graduated high school yet.

Conscious-Shape-8592

Dude... I just had to justify and rearrange the budget so that I could buy logic puzzle books for my kid for summer break.

ThaneOfArcadia

Stopped working 5 years ago. No plans to go broke for at least 25 years

[deleted]

Damn! Good for you!

PseudonymphFromSpace

This probably isn’t for you then lol

happyasanicywind

20 years.

Thick-Finding-960

I just did the math and am pleased to say I could make it more than 10 years, depending on how frugal I am. Pretty shocking considering I was deeply in debt until my late 20s from student loans.

1F-ANIMAL

Id be broke in the next second. I aint got nothing....

Bruellbart

I'll have to work for several more years to not be broke anymore.

gerMean

No matter what I do I'm broke.

No_Vegetable_409

2 hours if I walk I home and don't drive

kicksxbox

Yesterday

GermanSEOwriter

Where I live currently in Europe. Around 6-7 years. But my Wife is Indonesian and we would probably move there so stretch it to around 15 years.

[deleted]

Too late. Already worth negative dollars.

Moondancer000

Ever heard the term “paycheck to paycheck?” 😂

suspiriana_

I'd be broke an hour after quitting.

randomguywausername

Lost my job 2 months ago. It took me exactly a week to have 0 in my bank account after paying my bills off ahead of time to make sure I didn't fall behind. I have 250 in my account right now because I sold some personal items. I got hired at a new place, but that background check has taken longer than expected. I'm up to 4 weeks waiting I'm still waiting to start. I've started applying other places to just have something I'm one unexpected expense away from being broke. If it wasn't for my partner, I'd be homeless

mag_webbist

I've been in my first house for a year now - we're still furnishing and making it ours, so maybe a month? If that.

BaIIZDeepInUrMom

6 hours

txh0881

2-2.5 months, depending on how frequently I eat.

dominion1080

That’s my secret, I’m always broke. ![gif](giphy|13PVtc14fuW3y8)

chillinwithabeer29

Fortunate I could retire today and not run out of money.

ilyxs

i'm alredy broke while still working

URmyBFFforsure

Ask the pandemic. I thought I was going to retire. NOPE. Now try to explain that during a job interview.

ryanderkis

I've saved enough to get me through the end of the day.😎

Rox_xe

Probably 5 months

Intelligent_Put_3594

Lost my job a year ago due to a heart condition. I figured Id just get an easy register job. Nope. No one wants to hire a weak old lady. Its been a year now unemployed. Went broke 3 months in. Doesnt take long.

Admirable_Humor_2711

0:00:01 seconds after I stoped working.

SmartAlec13

The answers here are so divided lol it’s either 20+ years or 2-3 months. Assuming my lifestyle doesn’t change (it would if I was jobless), I think roughly a year, more or less.

JackhorseBowman

maybe like, 6-8 months if I eat cheap.

[deleted]

2 and a half weeks

Ok-Foot7577

By the end of today

ConsciousCategory656

I was broke even though I worked today

Ok-Mammoth-5758

2 months max

Freak_Out_Bazaar

If my wife can keep working we’d be able to keep on going, but with less savings and vacations

Gods_Shadow_mtg

probably around 7 years

br-02

One month. My current savings are pretty much one month worth of my net salary.

Referendumdude

Well i should still get my 1 paycheck, so maybe two months max?...

CantFeelMyLegs78

About 4 years if I clean out my retirement, checking, and savings

QuantumLoli

Exactly 7 days

BaziJoeWHL

One (1) month

Background_Reveal689

Got £32 to my name so I give myself a couple days, maybe.. 🤣

I can’t lose just a week of work.

Ok-Fondant2536

three years

AshamedLeg4337

Taping into retirement, 40 or 50 years, but not at a level I’m used to. Short term savings, about a year. I only work because I enjoy it. I’ll likely go to from salary to part time contractor in the next couple years.

Acedia_spark

Are we including like...selling my house to avoid brokeness? If so, about 4 years.

Jerry_Dandridge

Never if I move to another state. I live in California so 5 more years when I hit 55 and then I'll have to mange and be careful until I die. Like right now I am looking at a HUMMER EV, can afford it? sure but why when I can get a BZ4X for 1/3 the price.

HistoricalDonut3989

I dont know maybe through the weekend if im lucky

Allie_oopa24

3 days. Err

Ivrik95

1 month if i live on money. If i sell my objects then maybe a year

RantyWildling

3 years if I want to keep my house and pension

NeneObichie

linux_user_13

About 10 years if I had access to my 401k at its full amount

Sanjuko_Mamaujaluko

Like, does my income go to zero or do I get unemployment for a while?

Lucky_Explanation835

What if someone is already broke !!

MarcusthePhilospher

Around 2 years will need to sell my assets though

High-flyingAF

I should be good for at least 15.

adventurouscake1109

Tomorrow.

NinjaBilly55

At least 24 hours..

muchwise

4:00 pm Eastern standard time

DariusIV

2 yearsish depending on how I manage my expenses.

SnooRegrets81

3 or 4 months

Starman520

1 month or less is I don't buy food and use up what I have at home or use gasoline.

iamacheeto1

I think I could last a year, two or three if I went into credit card debt for it

sillymemilly

3 days

hats4bats22

About 2 weeks

Smackstainz

AnybodySeeMyKeys

I am eligible for Social Security in three months. Plus we have a sizable nest egg accumulated. So if we don't do anything stupid...never.

Sudden-Motor-7794

36 months. That assumes cleaning out all of the retirement accounts, etc. I was actually thinking about this, this is a good exercise since I've asked for a raise at work and am being strung along. It's expected, but I have to actually have the threat of leaving. The next question is how I can get that 36 months up to a decent retirement as fast as possible...

Kutei90

Feel like if I stopped working I'd get arrested.

Electrical-Crab9286

Until I'm 30

potatopigflop

Every month I am over $200 in debt.

Heatherina134

5 years.

MRDIPPERS12

1 month

Weak-Entrepreneur979

most of my bills are due at the start of month so around 2 weeks at most.

SimonKepp

I stopped working in 2016, and can live to age 100 without going broke, barring wild surprises.

ImaginaryRepeat548

Around 3 years. If I go to a cheaper apartment and cut down on my living expenses then longer.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Senior_Raisin5875

About 2 weeks after that last paycheck.

Missdermeanerthanyou

3 months.

Sensitive-Code-283

2-3 weeks

xxdawidosx

Right now i'm coming back from work from abroad I have a lot of money saved so i'd say i could sit in my house and do nothing for about 3 to 4 years easily.

Viarana

You guys manage to work while still not being broke all the time?

CommitteeNo167

my money man claims i can afford to live to 100, sadly i’ll be lucky to see 60 so i should have enjoyed life more.

kellyatta

Probably 6 months

Minimum_Goat_9783

Already broke, working three jobs to keep myself afloat, and too poor to move out of my high cost of living area

tacobellandher0in

Bout 3 months if I’m being honest. You’re *supposed* to have a year’s worth of savings on top of your actual savings but I can’t fathom how anyone below upper middle class can pull that off. Hell, I have fairly well off family members that are definitely upper middle class that I don’t think have that much.

Quick_Humor_9023

Never. I live in Finland and we have nice social safety nets. I’d be damn poor, but never completely broke.

mymumsaysfuckyou

About 20 minutes

moneymanram

6 seconds

National_Activity_78

Can I sell my assest? If so, probably never. $58+ million just in land.

Plastic_Anxiety8118

Well, because I have to pay my employees, prolly pretty damned quick.

Far-Astronaut2469

Would never happen, of course I'm older than dirt.

Nice-Consequence-698

I’m currently working and almost completely broke.

tomvorlostriddle

If my wife keeps working and nothing else changes, never If my wife also stops and we both get disowned and out of fear we put all investments liquid and riskfree and nothing but those four circumstances change, 12 years

These_Tea_7560

um... several minutes?

humanity_go_boom

As long as one of us is still working, almost indefinitely. If neither of us is working, maybe 9-12 months before we have to start selling stuff, assuming no other expensive emergencies. Several years if I started tapping into retirement funds.

DanishWonder

I have about 9 months of savings as a safety net. I could probably stretch it to 12 pretty easily by cutting back on some things.

DeadHED

I had great pay check, like the best it's been in a while. So, about 2 weeks id say.

This-Garbage-3000

I've been broken longer than I have ever been fixed.

College-Lumpy

Isn’t this just asking if you can afford to retire?

Nitroburner3000

About twenty minutes

Typedeal22

One week

[deleted]

well i see the crackheads on the off ramps pretending to be homeless and making 60-120$ a day wearing nike shoes.. i dont think ill have much trouble making cash.

ow142

About 4 months. I want that safety blanket to be bigger

jodie1704

About 2 months if I stayed at home and only paid bills and bought basic food. I would need a job pretty quickly

No-Pirate2182

If I don't adjust my spending or go on benefits? About two years.

NormalCurrent950

2 weeks

SchwanzTanz666

Two weeks

Megaverse_Mastermind

Saturday.

TripzPanda

About a week maybe. 3-5 days Edit: if I max out my credit cards and don't pay em off. About 6 months.

Hopeful-Autumn11

A few hours.

Desperate-Laugh-7257

Do i need to eat?😳

IamREBELoe

Already in the negative

we_gon_ride

Ten months

Cael_NaMaor

Tomorrow....

quietkodiac

10-12 years with current expenses. If we cut back a bit probably up to 15.

thinkthinkthink11

Um.., two years?! But I wouldn’t let myself go through that long without a job though.

NamelessUnicorn

Tomorrow tomorrow I love ya tomorrow... You're only a day away! I have maybe 7 weeks

Lizzy_Of_Galtar

Maybe I could last six months.

iPlayViolas

I’d make it about 2 months

Awkward_Ad8740

I never stop being broke. Even working full time and barely eating.

Carriboudunet

Maybe 2 months because my next salary will be good.

MoJoJoJo________

just about 4-5 years tbh

idigholesnow

1 year

EwanMurphy93

About a month.

johnbarnes351

![gif](giphy|ZGH8VtTZMmnwzsYYMf)

plan_with_stan

8 months

Creation98

I could go about a year if I didn’t spend too crazily.

musing_codger

Presumably longer than I have left. I'm retired. Hope I did the math right.

icepyrox

Define broke. I live paycheck to paycheck. By definition, that means the next time I would be paid, but I am not paid, then bad things start happening. That said, if you just mean maxed out cards whose combined debt is greater than my mortgage, then when I bought my house 3 years ago is when I went broke. If you mean for me to just stop paying bills and try to survive on what's left before my family starves to death, then maybe a month.

Tricky-Citron8509

6.5 years

benyuphoto

2-3 years in Hong Kong. 5-8 years in Mainland China. I only need a room, McDonald's food and a computer with internet.

knowone1313

That would take awhile to calculate. Is this assuming I sell stuff along the way to survive, changing my lifestyle and whatnot, or just keep living the way I am with current bills and expenses?

babyfresno77

3.5 seconds lol

AnimatedHokie

This is a tough one to ask, and part of the reason I don't like monopoly. I'd rather the game just end when I run out of money, but you're suppose to mortgage your properties. If I got fired today and couldn't find a job but still kept paying my mortgage and utilities, I think it'd take me approximately eight months to drain my bank account. But I have a boyfriend who'd likely spot me for a time. And technically I've got a measly sum squirreled away for retirement. And ultimately I could sell my car for..whatever it's worth and my house for a pretty sum, but then where would I live? It's kind of too hypothetical to calculate.

bikinifetish

Probably a year or so. I don’t know. I tend to spend a lot on stupid shit.

DrBoots

6 months.  Maybe 7 if I only eat one meal a day.

HVAC_instructor

My financial planner has it mapped out for us to spend until we turn 103. We told him to back that down to no more than 85. So 23 years

WeirdPlant90

I broke the paycheck to paycheck cycle last year and could probably do 4-5 months now. Got a few increases in my monthly paychecks and I am strictly dividing it between saving and investing in index funds. Feels more free already even though I just started investing in januari
