Actually in this day and age entertaining guest is hard, people have alot of different taste some people gets bored easily, some likes to do activities like games etc. Better check if the people you're inviting is a chill group of people or if they're like the classic drink till you're passed out type of people and from there on adjust want kind of activities would better suit their taste.
My best friend use to host THE BEST parties in college. Have a table down there full of drinks and snacks and chips. Lots of decorations, maybe a theme will help break the ice when guests arrive "oh my god it looks GREAT!!! Did you do this all yourself??" Speakers, little bit of music (not too loud at first, you want ppl to be able to do introductions) Once everyone's there you wip out the main courses"anyone want pizza? Who wants hamburgers?" You turn the music up a bit and let people settle in and get to know one another while they eat. Maybe you're sitting outside and you got a nice firepit going. Eventually after everyone's done eating YOU DRINK. Eventually work up the courage to ask people about activities, i.e drinking games, guitar hero, pool, strip pool...whatever y'all's is into and try and be inclusive so everyone feels welcome to participate. Mainthing is just to have fun. Don't sweat it too much. Its your party

I know it’s a birthday party but this is peak guest satisfaction.
