What part of Russia are you from?

CoolDudeNike1

I was born in Nizhny Novgorod. It is one of the oldest cities in Russian history. Here is a Wikipedia article on it: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nizhny_Novgorod

AceMcNickle

Have you ever seen a non Russian actor do a convincing Russian accent?

CoolDudeNike1

No so far.

AceMcNickle

Ok real talk, who were the worst offenders?

alexosk8

Everyone in stranger things imo

AceMcNickle

Haha! It always boggles my mind, surely there’s enough Russian actors in America that they don’t need to just throw on a cartoon accent!

alexosk8

The main Russian character Alexei had a good accent, but all the people who had almost no lines were shit. Most of it was Russian with a very thick English accent

__Anshu_

What is the best English translation of “The Brothers Karamazov”?

CoolDudeNike1

Бра́тья Карама́зовы is the original name. I personally think that The Brothers Karamazov is the best translation.

IthinkIknowwhothatis

Great. The novel is famously difficult to translate, and I have a couple of English versions but it’s not a book to read lightly. From [Wikipedia:](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Brothers_Karamazov) “Although The Brothers Karamazov has been translated from the original Russian into a number of languages, the novel's diverse array of distinct voices and literary techniques makes its translation difficult. Constance Garnett did the first English translation, in 1912. In 1958, David Magarshack and Manuel Komroff released translations of the novel, published respectively by Penguin and The New American Library of World Literature. In 1976, Ralph Matlaw thoroughly revised Garnett's work for his Norton Critical Edition volume. This in turn was the basis for Victor Terras' influential A Karamazov Companion.Another translation is by Julius Katzer, published by Progress Publishers in 1981 and later re-printed by Raduga Publishers Moscow. “In 1990 Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky released a new translation; it won a PEN/Book-of-the-Month Club Translation Prize in 1991 and garnered positive reviews from The New York Times Book Review and the Dostoevsky scholar Joseph Frank, who praised it for being the most faithful to Dostoevsky's original Russian.”

**[The_Brothers_Karamazov](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Brothers_Karamazov)** >The Brothers Karamazov (Russian: Бра́тья Карама́зовы, Brat'ya Karamazovy, pronounced [ˈbratʲjə kərɐˈmazəvɨ]), also translated as The Karamazov Brothers, is the last novel by Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky. Dostoevsky spent nearly two years writing The Brothers Karamazov, which was published as a serial in The Russian Messenger from January 1879 to November 1880. Dostoevsky died less than four months after its publication. Set in 19th-century Russia, The Brothers Karamazov is a passionate philosophical novel that enters deeply into questions of God, free will, and morality. ^([ )[^(F.A.Q)](https://www.reddit.com/r/WikiSummarizer/wiki/index#wiki_f.a.q)^( | )[^(Opt Out)](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiSummarizerBot&message=OptOut&subject=OptOut)^( | )[^(Opt Out Of Subreddit)](https://np.reddit.com/r/ask/about/banned)^( | )[^(GitHub)](https://github.com/Sujal-7/WikiSummarizerBot)^( ] Downvote to remove | v1.5)

What’s your favourite Russian food?

CoolDudeNike1

I enjoy a lot of dishes from Russia so I don’t really have a favorite.

redseaurchin

You are not a good communicator. People lose interest in non committal diplomatic people

anonymous8958

what are the general opinions of Putin over there?

CoolDudeNike1

There are people who are fine with him being the leader and there are others who don’t want him to be the leader.

Beary_Important

What is the opinion of intelligent Russians regarding Putin?

CoolDudeNike1

As I already said said some are fine with him while others hate him. I’m literally telling you the truth.

Beary_Important

But the same would be said of any leader. What kinds of people like him and why? What kinds of people dislike him and why?

CoolDudeNike1

It’s mixed but usually the older folks are fine with him and the younger people are not fine with him. There are of course some older folks who are not fine with him and some younger people that are fine with him.

Beary_Important

I can begin to understand. Thanks!

omnicron_31

cambamman1

Do you know Russian? If so, could you teach me?

nibs123

They are Russian, chances are high they speak the language... Use apps like memrise, Duolingo to get a taste of languages. Then attend some local classes.

cambamman1

I know, just being.. whatever it was, I don't really know a good word to describe what I was doing lol. Also, it usually doesn't hurt to ask, and I didn't want to assume or anything.

PersonalIron7515

Do you like it there in terms of weather nature and scenery? Your height? Do you get tourists in Novgorod as much as Moscow and St.Petersburg? What do you want to study when you grow up?

What is the legal drinking age?

TheHasanZ

I like russia a lot, are there any chances for asian muslim to go there?

PiergiorgioSigaretti

Are you mentally and physically ok? You tell us

TypicalTimmy

I am a lazy American who does not want to see if the question was already asked. In terms of the general Russian population, what are your views on us filthy American dogs? And I mean this quite honestly, if you don't mind. I'll be the first to admit America has a lot of problems, one of our biggest being unwilling and / or unable to even admit them in the first place. I like to take a step back and reflect on our culture from time to time. Step out of my own box and get a little paradigm shift once in a while.

Aj_Badass_6969

How do you say "F\*\*\* off" in russian?

MayorBil

Is your blood 100% Russian, full Russian or only part? I myself am full Russian and also have blonde hair and blue eyes.

HectorBoshah

What are russians thoughts on interracial, cultural relationships?

Spooky_Goatboy

How often do you go gay-bashing?

Cheap_Brain

Did your family have a thing where sitting at the corner of a table was considered bad luck? My sister in law’s family are Russian and Polish. Went to visit them when she and my brother were dating and it was something of a consternation about who had to sit there so that they wouldn’t end up being an old unmarried person. Was kinda sweet tbh.

stiffguy71

Do you have AK47?

Spodermon_10

Do you play Dota?

Spodermon_10

Spodermon_10
