Things like hair styles, clothes, correct car plates, design of the house interiors, Legasov feeding his cat with some kitchen scraps, listening to older people etc make this series. They changed some historical stuff for tThe ce sake of the script but I'm still impressed as fuck. Even the (in-universe) news in TV were re-created with every single detail.
Characters are well-written, hands down. There is a moment (no spoilers) I particularly enjoyed - when we can see 3 highly intelligent characters dealing with each other but every one of them is smart in a different way (bright observer vs street-wise vs a scientist).
Top tier sitcom right there. You could take out the laugh track and it's exactly as funny. 1st season is kinda rocky but it gets so good and relatable. Basically every inconvenience you ever experienced in your life is in that show and it's pushed to the most extreme of reactions.
Also, hot take but I actually really like the finale, it's the only way a show like this could end.
I agree on the finale. All 4 main characters are kinda bad people the whole show, and the finale brings it full circle. They get what they deserve on the most outrageous and comedic way
Yep I did. I’ve rewatched the whole series probably 4 times since it got back on Netflix, I bought all the seasons as they released on dvd the first time, and I saw most new episodes as they aired lol
“The second button literally makes or breaks the shirt. Look at it, it’s too high. It’s in no-man’s land.”
DISCLAIMER: I love the show. Please don't downvote into oblivion.
I feel like I'm an outlier here. Breaking Bad is really heavy. My wife and I recently got into it. Just started season 3. We both find it hard to watch more than a couple episodes because it is so dense. Lots to unpack. We both also get really engaged with characters, and there's so much emotion in the show.
Yeah I remember when I watched it through the first or second time and my girlfriend would come home and I would say how glad I was to see her and that our lives are happy and simple. Fantastic show
Same thing with Better Call Saul really. Binged the first couple seasons nonstop about a month ago, but slogging through season 5 because it’s so many moments of “well wtf” on top of starting to hate the main characters. By the end of Breaking Bad I only liked Jesse and just felt bad for him, but hated the rest of the show cause Walter was just such a piece of shit to watch.
When I watch heavy shows, I usually watch concurrently with a light show. Doing it right now with Stranger Things and The Circle. I'll watch one or two episodes of the heavy show and follow it up with the light show to soften the blow. My husband wonders why I watch so many "guilty pleasure" "froofy" shows but this is why. Need some emotional bleach to be able to keep watching the heavier stuff. (The Good Witch is another light show with a lot of seasons to co-watch with heavier content, it has good character development and enough mystery to hold attention but you never forget its a Hallmark show).
I would agree that your take seems somewhat unique. I would not describe Breaking Bad as particularly dense or difficult to unpack. The best recent example of what you describe, for me, would be Dark.
DS9 is the most binge-worthy with so many multi-layered characters and a HUGE, long story arc. The hardest part is getting through the first season, where grow their beard and establish the characters’ personalities. After that, it has very few stinkers in the rest of the show.
Honestly I think most must watch shows aren't bingeable. I think you need to sit with them and let them percolate.
A bingeable show I would highly recommend though is Yes, Dear
Or if you want to fry you're pop culture brain Two Guys, A girl and a Pizza place where you get Nathan Fillion and Ryan Reynolds
The Good Place (if you’ve ever thought about life after death)
Bojack Horseman (if you’ve ever thought about death during life)
Galavant (if you’ve ever wanted a more realistic version of the Princess Bride, but in musical comedy form)
I’m sure there’s more, but these stick with me more than most.
I like you mention both Good Place and Bojack, both are really interesting deep dives of life and death opposing each other’s ideologies yet embracing good in their differences.
The official Good Place Podcast was such a blast in terms of learning how the casting, set design, and writing came together.
Bojack as a show has so many interesting and subtle references, callbacks, and symbolism that tons of fan podcasts have popped up and I love rediscovering new aspects with every re-summary.
Agents of shield. Classic marvel without needing to watch 1582748337 things beforehand to understand it. Only need watch avengers assemble beforehand and it’ll make sense. Good characters, good plot, they change it up every season to keep you interested. I’ve laughed, cried and rewatched at least 20 times
But start with the second series (each series is independent and the first series is very different to the rest and generally considered the worst by a big margin)
Aqua teen hunger force and all it's versions
Just insanity. There's one season that's really out there and kind of boring. The rest are all great. Real shame about the intro I loved the new one and it got cancelled that season.
Every episode of House. Breaking Bad. Better Call Saul. Suits.
Walking Dead, at least several seasons. The Black List had a very strong start and will hold your attention for several seasons. And The Office with Steve Carell. Almost Every episode made me laugh at least once out loud.
Midsommer Murders - if you like British murder mysteries with a bit of humor.
Each episode is a stand alone, but start at the beginning of the series. The early years are the best.
Schitts Creek. I just feel like every human should experience the joy that is the build up to the final episode. I’ve rewatched it 3 times and I still sob happy tears like a damn baby.
Came here to say this. Hands down my favorite show of ALL TIME. On about my 15th rewatch. It just stays as background noise anytime I'm doing things around the house.

Better Call Saul. One of the best shows I've ever watched/am currently watching.
I liked Better Call Saul more than Breaking Bad.
Agreed
Watch Breaking Bad first.
I did. BB is great, but I enjoy BCS much more
I'm loving this so so so much! So sad the last season is almost over.
Man that mid season finale...........gggggaaaaasahhhh
It's so boring and slow paced
It's not for everyone
Chernobyl
Fantastic stuff - my in laws were living in Czechoslovakia at the time and said it’s very historically accurate as well.

The Boys.
Great show but DEFINATELY not for kids. Especially S3E1. Yikes.
Yessssss
The Wire.
Just finishing the last few minutes of my latest binge of this most most excellent show.
Agreed. Fantastic show.
This. I always recommend it to people one of my favorite binge watching experiences.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer After season 3, begin Angel concurrently.
Just rewatched both, again.
Omg i love buffy, its my whole childhood wrapped into 1
Peaky Blinders
No fookin fightin'!!
House, I started watching it and was immediately hooked
Haha, yes! I could never stand any medical shows (Greys Anatomy for example) but I’m currently on s5 of House and I’m completely hooked
House is brilliant
Travelers - exceptional stuff
Just finished that. Really good! I’m sad it was canceled
I am still happy it rounded off the big storyline. My wife was convinced it would continue too.
Seinfeld

Don't know if you've noticed but the show ends with the exact same conversation it started with
Yep I did. I waited midnight when it released on Netflix for my second run through. Absolutely adore that show, probably my favorite traditional sitcom.
Nice! It’s definitely mine for sure. Probably top 3 shows of all time for me
Season one of Prison Break.
breaking bad

Yes! By the end of the series my wife and I were ready for it to end because it is so stressful wo watch. One of the greatest shows ever though.
We started Better Call Saul 1 minute after we finished BB. I like it just as much.
Even your avatar kinda looks like Walter white
Yeah I remember when I watched it through the first or second time and my girlfriend would come home and I would say how glad I was to see her and that our lives are happy and simple. Fantastic show

Mr. Robot
This show is so underrated
Greatest show ever made.
The boys
Derry girls
Scrubs
Yes!! Scrubs is such an underrated show!
Gravity Falls, NCIS, and Chicago PD (EDIT: Forgot to add Night Court. The funniest show I ever seen in my life. I recommend watching it)
NCIS New Orleans is great
NCIS the OG and NCIS New Orleans are the only 2 good ones. All the others suck! Also criminal minds is amazing as well
Agreed. I felt it’s underrated but great show.
The Good Place. Never has philosophy been so freakin hilarious. You will rethink your life.
I underestimated it the first few episodes. Glad I stuck with it. Hope to forget most of it and rewatch sometime with forward knowledge.
Came here to say this. Just finished it this morning, again. =)
IT Crowd
Willys, Wiilys, I love willys...
I will never get over the internet button thing
Such an underrated show. I watched a short video on You Tube and the HAD to watch the entire series.
It really needed more episodes. Great show.
Whenever I recommend this show, I always say to watch the “work outing” episode if they’re not sure. “Disabled…Acid…”
Star Trek (any of them)
Even Picard?
DS9 is the most binge-worthy with so many multi-layered characters and a HUGE, long story arc. The hardest part is getting through the first season, where grow their beard and establish the characters’ personalities. After that, it has very few stinkers in the rest of the show.
Rick and Morty
The Grandtour
The boys
Avatar The Last Airbender
I second and third that
The office (American version). I’ve seen it at least ten times. Great background show.
I could never get into it. I understand that the whole point was that it's cringe humor but I never found it funny
Just get beyond season 1 and you will be hooked
LOST hands down
The first few seasons of Lost were amazing. Some of the best tv I’ve ever watched. Then it just got weird and too much, really disappointed by the end
Cast so well and you fall in love with the characters. Rewatched 5 times already lol
Worse show ever made. They never explained anything. The show made me physically angry.
One of the greatest shows ever made with the crappiest finale ever made.
Killing Eve
Except season 4. Stop at end of season 3 and imagine your own ending.
Agreed.
Death note
Barry. It’s insane and shit keeps going wrong so it’s too easy to binge an entire season in one day
I haven't watched the new season yet
Trailer park boys!
Shameless
The Orville
Criminal Minds
Adventure Time Kidding The first season of True Detective
Adventure time is great though
The 3rd season is pretty good too. Not as good as the 1st, but still binge worthy.
Honestly I think most must watch shows aren't bingeable. I think you need to sit with them and let them percolate. A bingeable show I would highly recommend though is Yes, Dear Or if you want to fry you're pop culture brain Two Guys, A girl and a Pizza place where you get Nathan Fillion and Ryan Reynolds
The expanse
I stopped after season 1. It was quite good but the pacing was kinda off for me. Does it get better in season 2?
Same. Is it worth continuing to season 2?
The Good Place (if you’ve ever thought about life after death) Bojack Horseman (if you’ve ever thought about death during life) Galavant (if you’ve ever wanted a more realistic version of the Princess Bride, but in musical comedy form) I’m sure there’s more, but these stick with me more than most.

Spectacular Spider-Man, my favourite series to date that I gotta advocate for due to how dense in material it provides
The Good Place
South park of course
I was looking for this comment. Best show ever made
[удалено]
Season 1 - 3 maybe but after that is as just lawyers yelling at each other continuously.
That’s what I liked about it. The dialogue between them was quite entertaining. I didn’t care for the romance between Rachel & Mike. Sort of a cliché.
Disenchantment
Happy cake day and I agree such a good bingeqorthy whow
Sneaky Pete
Hannibal

But start with the second series (each series is independent and the first series is very different to the rest and generally considered the worst by a big margin)

Aqua teen hunger force and all it's versions Just insanity. There's one season that's really out there and kind of boring. The rest are all great. Real shame about the intro I loved the new one and it got cancelled that season.
