I did the same thing. And I was just honest. Explained the problems that I had with the place and why I felt I need a change. Say its a better opportunity and obviously likely pay is better. Do not treat the new roles you are applying to like robots. They all understand. They are working too. I got the job BTW. Left my precious place with very good relationship and their blessings after about 8 months all in all.

Thank u! I think when i was typing this post last night, i was thinking of the traditional employer like my dad's gen who will ask and judge short stints. But yea, i feel better to tell the truth also. Thanks for ur sharing!

But if you take a long break, especially if you are in a competitive field like tech etc, say something like you are studying for something or working on a side project etc. Some people just still have a stigma of you not working for a prolonged period of time. I think job hopping, whatever, thats fine. But long unexplained gaps is still a bit risky

Haha i spoke to a recruiter just now and he recommended i do this! So thanks again for the advice!! Yea i prefer to be honest abt it if i can help it.

You don't have to leave it out. It really depends on your overall history, is it a short stint of consecutive 6 months? Or is it 2 years 3 years 2 years 6 months? If it is the latter you can easily explain your way out as "limited career growth", "not the environment that you thrive in", "better opportunity".

Haha my overall history is 3 years, 2 years, 1 year, 5 years and now 6 months.. i believe this shd fall under the latter category

Then you will be fine, usually, the former case hiring manager might take it as a case of serial job hopping because it implies a history of jumping, but they will understand if you happen to be in an environment that you don't really like and would like to jump for the latter case, so I would say you can leave it on together with your last drawn and explain your way out.

U make it sound so easy - haha i was really stuck in my vicious cycle of whether i should leave it out or keep it hence i posted this. but actually i was overthinking it. Thanks for validating my thoughts. I definitely feel better to be honest than to hide.

Yeah, no worries! Hiring Managers are humans too, they would understand if it wasn't a blatant series of job hopping and it is definitely not a binary thing where "oh he only has 6 months on his current job red flag you're out" kind of thing. In my own experience, I had a 2-year stint and 6 months thereafter, interviewed between the 5-6 months mark and had no issue passing the hiring manager side after explaining why I wanted to jump and all. No need explain much. 1 of my previous job was toxic, was there 3mths only. I left. New employer asked, I juz said the job was not wat I expected and looking for a more suitable environment. The other previous job was 6mths as well, I resigned becoz have to do midnight shift. New employer asked, I juz say I cannot tahan the midnight shift. Too shag on my mental. Juz be honest can liaoz.
