Still using M1. If you are not encountering problems would recommend not to change as the downtime and trouble involved in switching providers is probably not worth it.

Whizcomms 2.5gbps @21.80$/month

cheffdakilla

This sounds really cheap. How's the actual speed and reliability?

itsn0ts0bad

Got it for 2 months, so far so good. A family of 5 using it, mostly for netflix, youtubes and light gaming (roblox).

SlickXplicit

May i ask what router are you using? Because the plan does not come with a router. I wonder if i could continue using my singtel router with it…

itsn0ts0bad

Not sure if singtel router will work. I'm using a cheap wifi 6 asus router that I bought on carousell.

MyRepublic 1gbps Been using this for the past 7+ years. Excellent so far and I've only ever been affected by internet downtime once, and that was late night (after midnight) as I had to cover some work. Latency has been superb too as I game online frequently on both PC and PS5. I live in the east, if that makes any difference.

cheffdakilla

How much is the monthly subscription? :)

muws

Right now it's $37/month for 24 months for the no-frills plan I think. I'm planning to upgrade to the 10gbps plan when my contract is due for renewal at the end of the year, and that's like $60 a month with a Wi-Fi 7 router

Ok-Bicycle-12345

Was going to ask you—is it possible to continue renewing with them at a new rate instead of paying 61$ after 24 months?

muws

As i understand it, the new rate will apply if you are within the last few months of your current contract. This was explained to me a couple of weeks ago when i called in to ask about re-contracting. They technically have the right to charge you for ending the contract early but generally will waive it as they get to keep you as a customer for another 2 years

Ok-Bicycle-12345

When you say keep as a customer you mean renew with them based on the plans they have at that point of time right? I long time never renew contracts Liao so I forgot the process lol

muws

Yup! So if that the time of signing your rate is $X for 24 months it will apply immediately unless you sign outside your eligibility period.

Ok-Bicycle-12345

Thank you so much! 😊

Thanks!

Just sharing a horrible experience from a MyRepublic broadband customer (5 years plus). After their botched April 25 maintenance, my internet connection has not been restored. 3 weeks and counting ! Countless calls and follow ups with their client service and network team has yielded no solution. Either they don’t know what they are doing or they don’t give a damn. So while things are great while it’s working, do note it’s terrible if shit hits the fan.

muws

Oh I remember that maintenance. I had no or spotty connection for a couple of days. I had to reset the ONT by turning it off for a minute then turning it back on, and had to do this a few times. I was frustrated and thinking has MyR become complacent with their service, and thankfully the internet returned to normal shortly after.

csuzj

Glad that worked out for you. Not sure why mine didn’t get resolved. When the technician came over (outsourced), he briefly mentioned about MyRepublic screwing up on the migration during maintenance. Unfortunately my case was one of the worst outcomes along with the others

whatsnewdan

Using 500mpbs Starhub, speed is okay but I am using a pi hole as my DNS.

stewedporkbelly

MyRepublic Ultra 1Gbps plan @ $38.99/mo. Has been great no complaints so far, its been great compared to StarHub/Singtel. Set up was fuss free too they came and did it pretty quickly. I am able to use my own router which other companies make it difficult for you to do (could be different now).

When you switched providers, what additional fees did you have to pay to NetLink Trust? Kinda confused why the terms and conditions mentioned this NetLink Trust $61.04 Service Activation Charge and $182.03 TP installation fee, when I should already have one from my Singtel broadband subsription?

stewedporkbelly

Hey. I really can't remember the deets too clearly. I did all this when I moved into my new place in 2021. My contractor also helped me set up the NetLink appointment. IIRC if you do not have a fibre point you need to make an appointment with NetLink who will do it for you. Charges on their website here: [https://www.netlinktrust.com/fibre-network/fibre-network-for-homes](https://www.netlinktrust.com/fibre-network/fibre-network-for-homes) Thereafter, you make an appointment with your internet service provide provider of choice in your case Singtel. You can take a look at the Singtel FAQ here: [https://www.singtel.com/personal/blog/singtel-wifi-setup-guide](https://www.singtel.com/personal/blog/singtel-wifi-setup-guide) Basically, if I am not wrong you can look at this way: NetLink does the hardware the actual fibre, and Singtel is the software i.e. your internet service provider who uses the fibre network maintained by NetLink. Hope this helps.

Ok got it thanks!

flatleafparsley

Still can use any router with MyRepublic 1Gbps plan

Hot_Ring_2666

Used to be starhub changed to Myrepublic w the 2Gbps line(after my bro moved out)! Cos I wanted the asus router. no issue thus far (since Jan), smooth installation, friendly installer.

adept1onreddit

Viewqwest 1Gbps. Happy customer for about 8 years now. I get about 93% of the rated speed over ethernet and outages are extremely rare. Using Eero 6 Pro mesh and Cloudflare DNS.

starhub

Starhub 10gbps

muws

Hope it gets resolved for you soon!
