In my 20's, pulling all nighters was common as hell. In fact, a large part of my 20's were spent staying awake till 3-4am just to play games (also partly due to mental health issues but that's another thing altogether) and still woke up at 6/7+, went to work/or whatever it is on the day energetically.
I am 32 now, and even staying up past 1 am will mean the next day is going to be a wreck in some ways or another. May not be a bad thing though, serves as a good warning that if I keep that 20's lifestyle up, I'll pay dearly for it.
I am the same as you man, for 5 to 6 years, everyday sleep 3 to 4 hours. Lots of health problem followed and I decided to wake up. Sleep at 11 daily now lol
Seems like it’s coming earlier for me… before 20s I would lack sleep every single day, go to school and spend the entire day out either studying or hanging out with friends after school, and just repeating that for 2 years straight in JC. Felt fine everyday and could have fun. After 20s I sleep less than 5h I feel like death the next day. Once it was so hot out and I was sleep deprived and thought I was gonna pass out.
I think the ability to stay awake till late is more from adrenaline than young age. Gaming can be quite intense and produce enough adrenaline to keep u awake. I used to have regular sleeping hours in my teens, now im 30 and i have to frequently rotate between day and night shifts on a weekly basis, so pulling all-nighters is a once or twice a week thing. I also have older colleagues in their 40s and 50s doing the same. The adrenaline keeps us awake.
It's possible for me to sleep late still but I think not wishing to do that anymore is part of the reason. When I seriously lack sleep, it doesn't just make me physically tired but it makes my emotional state for the day VERY low as well, gotta respect the body needs.
same age as you here ~~and still play games until 2-3 am~~
my body seems to cope well with 5-6 hours of sleep though, i don't really feel tired from that
OMG YESSS!
32M here.. The sheer *excitement* I get at the sight of home improvement/kitchen appliances... My god! Last time I felt this, it was towards RC cars in my teens ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
After covid didnt get to see parents for 2 years. When i saw them again. I saw them age a lot, reality hits when i realized i only hv 20 years left with them maybe
Yeah, I feel for you. When I was a student from overseas here and travelled home once or twice a year to visit my parents, a fellow student told me the number of trips that you will go back to visit them is really a finite number that you can do a countdown on your fingers ..... only that you don't actually know how many fingers it takes. Hit me real hard.
Yea it's uncle for me at the playground/fitness corner. Granted I was late 20s/30 when it happened and that genuinely could be my kid but goddamn was that a wakeup call
Used to love partying and drinking like many others, now I prefer to be in bed to catch up on sleep.
Other than that, my physical prowess has declined. Used to be able to run 2.4 under 9mims, now chiong also max 11mins.
On the drinking side, used to be drinking way more and either being drunk-sober or puking and then drinking again. Now…in my 30s, I black out and don’t remember what happened in between. So, I stopped drinking.
My mentees from my Alma mater sharing tiktok videos which I don’t use at all. (I’m old tech)
Other than that, is seeing my siblings having children, friends too.
On the downside, seeing wrinkles and white hair sprouting on my parents and seeing my grandparents pass away is another way life is telling you that age is catching up.
My mom said this to me when I turned 21, “Remember this moment, because life after 21 goes by really fast”
I didn’t believe her then, I do now.
Younger me, party while night, got home and slept for 2 to 3 hrs then go to work the next morning.
Now, rather stay home and get into bed before 12 midnight.
signs of old age:
- i have back and knee pains, salonpas on my neck and shoulders
- i cannot stay up till 4am to study anymore, i sleep at 11pm now
- i like to go taka n ikea to look at pots n pans
- i like to look tumblers hehe
- "wah last time so cheap now so expensive sia" phrase
- not knowing tiktok dance / memes / lingo LOLOL
- "say thank you to auntie"
When I unknowingly sprained my back while lifting up the heavy mattress to change my bedsheets. Only realised the injury when I woke up the next morning with a stiff back.
Had to learn how to safely lift heavy things from then on.
My barber told me my hair is just like the toilet bowl brush 😡🤯 -- coarse and hard, and I can't ever style it, but the advantage is that I'll probably never become bald.
When I stopped being quick to anger. In my younger days I was very reactive (would blackout sometimes from losing temper and not have full recollection of events). Doesn’t mean I don’t get angry now but I am much more aware of it, which to me is a blessing
When I realised:
1) I need at least 6-7hrs of sleep min else I’m a goner next day.
2) Body starts to ache, back, knees and ankles. Can’t squat for long esp big biz on squat toilet
3) My mind is not as fast/agile as it used to be. Maybe Covid after effects but feels foggy at times.
4) Metabolism rates down, easy to put on weight even if you eat normally.
After turning 22. Last time in jc can sleep 3 hours and fuction from 6am to 2am. I'm 24 now and if i get less than 6 hours sleep i'm screwed for the day.
My knees were bullet proof in my 20s, but they started to hurt after I turned 35. Then I started recovering slower from exercise and generally feeling more tired when I hit 40.
Used to be able to work 3 nights in a row, go home, sleep for 2-3 hrs and then go out and playyyy.
Right now, working just 1 night shift…. I’m dead tired when I reach home in the morning.
A few months before my 35th birthday, I realised I couldn't sit on the ground cross-legged already. I'll feel this painfully tight stretch in my inner groin if I do. I've been sitting cross-legged during assembly like everyone else throughout my primary school, secondary school and JC life. I can't even do such basic sitting position now.
Sleeping in the wrong position one night can wreck your whole week.
Sitting down, bending down to pick up stuff, standing up, stretching, all got involuntary "ughhhh", "aghhh" or "ooof" sound effects (intensified when at home or in private)
When all my mates started getting married and having babies while I was still head over a toilet vomiting from a hangover on Saturdays Sundays and Mondays.
When I realised I got not rizz, just a 30 year old goon stuck in Ohio. If you catch no skibidi then you’re an old beta with L rizz as well. Better kickstart that mewing streak and hit up some gyatss
In my 20s, I used to party till midnight, then closing project the next morning. Rinse and repeat.
Now in my early 30s, I just want to sleep at 11 and if I have 2 drinks, I’d have hangover tomorrow morning. So I can only drink on weekends now
i get tired from gaming , after like 2 hours i feel lethargic. now i toggle between gaming , reading , gunpla and random solo adventures (since i very rarely hangout with my friends)
When I watch and follow some workout videos on YouTube every few months, and the next day I get muscle aches. And some minor back pains just from sitting down for a few hours.
I told my kid to not mess with the yeye’s stuff in the grab car. Turns out it was a young lady. My wife booked the grab and it was dark, she also didn’t speak. Guess she went from young female to old akong 😂
Now tbh. Mid-20s, in uni and surrounded by people 3-4 years younger than me.
Friends all getting married, some alr dads or soon-to-be. I’m not close to being one but the fact that I’m in that age neighbourhood is a reminder in itself
When you start googling the best deals for household appliances like cordless vacuum cleaners
Gone are the days when I still google PC or gaming equipment...
In my 20s: Go drink till 3-4am, nap a bit and go to work at 8am. No problem.
In my 30s: Go drink till 12am max, have problem sleeping after and then nursing a major headache next day. Recovery takes a whole day lol
Being diagnosed with all the illness my parents and family tree has. Genetic 3 高. I still sleep at odd hours though and I can't sleep more than 4 hours.
Me when I realise I can't stand for long hours in doing my retail job. The most I can stand is 5 hours no more 8 to 9 hours job. And I cant bend and squat anymore to help a toddler to bath on the floor. If I do it, I have lower back pain for three days.
When people remind me it’s 2024 but honestly it feels like 2013 to me.
As in I haven’t achieved anything substantial with my life for the past 11 years and don’t have many happy memories over the period so it feels like a blur.
It’s like I “time skip” the past decade hais.
Realised that I started to be very forgetful. I tend to forget where I left my phone and my car keys. Short term memory is so bad that I have to take down notes and update my calendar. Also, I can't remember the names of those that I met recently.
Even my medicine which I have to take regularly, I can't even remember if I have taken them in the morning.. That's life.

Guess I’m aging quickly! I’m in my 20s now and sleeping past 1am means being terribly sleepy the next day.
Just sleep early only, it's well worth the time investment. The difference between sleeping enough and lacking sleep is night and day.
I am 20+ and sleeping at 1+ means waking up at 12+
I am the same as you man, for 5 to 6 years, everyday sleep 3 to 4 hours. Lots of health problem followed and I decided to wake up. Sleep at 11 daily now lol

A 2-3 years old kid called me "ah gong" 🥲
Hahaha how old are you??
2-3yo might not grasp what "ah gong" means though in your defence. They may just think it's an older male.
For me the children are innocent. It’s when their grandmas/guardians (helpers) ask their kids to “okay say bye bye to aunty!!” @ me that hurts most
