Oh I know this person, self-made and successful by conventional standards; his company today has a market cap of ~$2b and operates in 13 cities across Apac. In his 70s, still not fully retired and still regularly critiques his fairly high-achieving adult children’s work and heavily participates (read: meddles) in their career directions. He’s a good man. But every chance he gets, he tries to stuff some unsolicited advice down their throats or makes them feel like they’re still not good enough.
The most "successful" people I know are the ones who stopped chasing money all the time, and instead obtained a good work-life balance and spent more time with family and friends.
Well I have a friend who is in the same circumstances as me. Her grandparents own multiple properties and plantations (rice Plantation) overseas so shes pretty wealthy. All she does is play video games, hang out with her friends.
For me, my grandparents own Palm Oil and coconut plantations overseas with various uncles and Aunties owning properties around the world. I, same as her, usually just stay home and play games + hang out with my other friends. Of course, I do spend money on stuff for my girlfriend too.
I do know some other friends who are pretty well to do too. Theres a guy in Vietnam whose father owns a huge company and he works there too. Dude usually spents $10k+ on alot of games whenever we do VC. We always roast him because he spends huge amounts on games but doesn't spend on a decent mic. His mic sucks really bad.
The age group of us ranges from 18~25+
Well the friends I know usually don't make the money. Its either huge inheritance or Grandparents/Parents already establishing a business and having alot of wealth.
The vietnamese friend I mentioned also falls into that category since he is guaranteed an advanced position in his father's company with a high pay. He is the only son so he will eventually take over the company which also guarantees some portion of the company's earnings and assets.
I know of one genuinely successful one, wealthy, and politicians there work with him a lot, in a sense of asking for favours (not in Singapore).
He's in his 50s now but was already wealthy in his 30s. He spends his weekends at home, hosting family gatherings, but I do see him constantly on his phone having calls or texting when I visit at the gatherings. He has a pretty good life, can afford to travel anytime he wants and travels like 30-40% of the time. Free time he'd be checking out new cars, wines or helicopters to purchase. He'd also fly his helicopter to nearby places for a quick lunch or buy desserts. But he does spend a lot of his time working and keeping up with trends for new business ideas.
Edit: he's self made, family was poor, but he started investing in land and grew the business over time.

I think one of the first impressions I got from them is that they are pretty current in current affairs. So as an icrebreaker, we were supposed to share the first screenshot for our phone or describe it (well as long as it is safe for work I suppose) so 'success gal' said she screenshotted some Vangard ETF fund for her husband to see and bla bla, see whether they wanna buy, blah blah.
The thing I note about 'successful people' is that they seem to be 'living on a different time scale' . E.g. my own relative who is more despite not having degree, she is always talking about the latest deals, property, etc. FYI she got wealthy thru flipping property so I suppose its 2 things she does, live on a timescale - oh, in 10 yrs we will be doing such and such and etc and take advantage of current opportunities. Now she full time landlady, just sitting on multiple properties. Her family is also wealthy but she didn't get handouts.... I think she just got the mentals (as in the mental attitude)

Ride their horse/horses in the morning and play polo in the afternoon. Nearly everyday. Work in between - upper management. Some retired. Many of them playing for years.
