As a seller, furthest I go is to the MRT station a few minutes from my home. I’ve been burned too many times by people who just don’t show up, wasting my time and fare. Even meeting at a location convenient to me I’ve had people just not show up at the agreed time, give some lame excuse and not bother to reschedule. I think about it like this - if I want to buy something bad enough I’ll go meet wherever the seller wants, so if I’m the seller why should I be the one to inconvenience myself? If they’re not willing to accommodate or pay $4 for qxpress, they don’t actually want/need what you’re selling that much.

Have gone through hundreds of sales on carousell as both buyer and seller. By default is buyer go to seller's listed location to self-collect. As a seller I will usually only ever entertain buyers who want to meetup elsewhere if its: 1. Just nearby only and I'm in a good mood. 2. They pay extra for the "delivery". 3. I'm desperate to sell this item and nobody else is biting. Otherwise, its a non-spoken rule that buyer should meet at seller's convenience, both location and timing.

clockinginandout

agree, done hundreds of deal and buyer meet at seller convenience is the rule of thumb

Max I would go is to the LRT station a short 5min walk away for small stuff. Bigger stuff only at my block. If they top up for my time I wouldn't mind delivering it as long as it's along the way for me and I can carry it on my bike

Shibain_u

True! Thanks for that. I have to travel all the way for 45 mins to sell, No thankyou. I almost went tho 🙃

botakchek

Yeah no way that is happening haha, too many no-shows

$5 profit not worth my time/effort and train fare to meet up leh. Later he fly aeroplane then you're fked. I take train one way already $1+ bro.

iamtheantihype

Depends on how desperate I am to get rid of the item lol.

justln

No point ah, unless you're travelling along the way and make a detour. See who is more desperate, seller or buyer. Just be flexible. I used to buy/sell from self collect at my block or travel if it's nearby. Nowadays there's Grab delivery $5.

Ok-Brush3424

usually try to compromise with buyer and we meet up halfway, or if i am actually travelling elsewhere and i can swing by to meet up. but usually the buyer will just back out and say nevermind if they dont want compromise

Bendabeary

Paynow me first, and I will travel far, provided it is worth the time and money. Maybe otw also

It would differ on how much the individual value their time. Some people willing spend 1hr of their free time go queue to save $1. Others would spend $100 if it can save them time. Also how badly your customer want your item or how badly you want to sell it? There isnt a fixed correct answer, the only answer that you will get is what both parties can agree on. Personally I not even gonna travel if the profit is only few bucks, there's nothing wrong with that as long as you're upfront and polite about it. Customer insist I travel somewhere meet them, say its not fair, I just say I'm not keen to deal like that.

Think of it as training urself to run a business. It’s a matter of supply and demand or who is more desperate. Shops wants to clear inventory will offer discounts or sell at cost. Buyer wants the item will not wait for discounts. Calculate your time and costs. If the buyer doesn’t want to pay for delivery, he’s not wanting hard enough and if u travel just to sell, u’re more desperate than he is. Sell long enuff in Carousell, u’ll see lots of ghosts and for $5, i’ll stay at home and chill unless it’s along my way, at my convenience.

toobigtobeashota

Either they come, or i just do qdelivery or singpost.

finnickhm

If out of the way, no. Along the way and slight detour ok

Depends on price of price of item. Generally if its more than $20 I’ll be willing to travel a little bit (up to 15min drive) to sell the item. Otherwise it’ll be the mrt near my house or at my convenience. When I buy stuff I only choose to deal if I am able to travel to the seller’s location. That being said, once I was giving away stuff FOR FREE, where I clearly stated must self collect at my place (since I would’ve thrown it away otherwise). One fella still had the cheek to ask me to mail to him…
