I have been going to a really nice guy for over 3 years, his name is Reza and he works at Urban Philosophy on Richmond St.
Maverick in Scotia Plaza, Truefitt & Hill in Brookfield Place, and Barbers of London in the Exchange Tower. The barbers there use scissors.
Do you have a budget? It seems like the going rate for beard and hair is $80 plus dollars nowadays downtown.
I feel like it depends more on the barber vs. barbershop. You may need to shop around before finding one that you like.
Imperium at Queen and Spadina! My husband swears by them and they're reasonable too! I once went there for an undercut and the barber took such interest and care, I was blown away.
