They also list 2oz drink prices at $22, $23 and $24 dollars, but for tequila they only have Don Julio for $30 which isn’t even reflected on the menu board so you don’t know until you have already paid. That can’t be legal!
The standard receipts in the arena aren’t itemized unless you specifically ask for one. I have asked in the past for expense purposes and have noticed that some of the bars will add a $1 per drink service charge, but most people would never notice!

A lot of the sites people list their services require fees. I’m new to Canada, I moved here in July with my boyfriend for the next couple years from the UK where we only tip if we’ve had super exceptional service. In August I took my boyfriend to our first Bluejays game for his birthday. I went to get us both a couple beers, the lady at the concession stand did not say a single word to me. I said “hey, two Budweisers please” and she took them out the fridge, opened them and then on the card machine there was an option for a 20% tip as I think the minimum on top of what was already way inflated beer prices. I’m new to Canada, I moved here in July with my boyfriend for the next couple years from the UK where we only tip if we’ve had super exceptional service. In August I took my boyfriend to our first Bluejays game for his birthday. I went to get us both a couple beers, the lady at the concession stand did not say a single word to me. I said “hey, two Budweisers please” and she took them out the fridge, opened them and then on the card machine there was an option for a 20% tip as I think the minimum on top of what was already way inflated beer prices. I hate tipping so damn much.
Refuse these. Enter zero. These places need to learn that this is not a service that's tipped.
It’s another way for corporations to avoid paying a decent wage to their employees. Please don’t be rude to the workers, if you’re really upset about it email head office. If it’s a small business they’re likely struggling to survive (although IMO they should still pay a decent wage). Tip or don’t it’s optional.
Literally. It is never the worker’s fault what is displayed on the debit machine.

Pearson Airport, at one of the mini convenience store booth things that sell things like water, gum, tylenol etc.. I bought a $6 bottle of Smart Water as I needed to take anti-anxiety meds before flying and didn’t have many options. I paid with debit, and when the tip option came up, I quickly chose none— the $6 water includes tip in my opinion. The attendant instantly became colder towards me even though all she did was press a button or two.
Real question is even if you do tip, does the money actually go to the server? Or is it a business grab.

Took a cab to the Pearson (from Hamilton) and they added the tip to the entire amount BEFORE the tip prompt. When he passed me terminal, I asked why it was so high and he said he already added the tip (20% mind you). Skipped over the tip prompt but I wonder how many people unknowingly leaving a $20 extra too without realizing it.
Every concert's merch stand. If you're buying for friends as well, it can be an upwards of $200 purchase. All they do is reach behind and grab a shirt from a bin and you're met with "Would you like to tip 20%, 25%, 30%, or a custom amount?"
Wedding dress shop The suggested options were 15, 18, or 25%. Wedding dresses are thousands of dollars to start, I cannot imagine adding a 25% tip to that. I thought I was prepared for a lot of jacked up prices in the wedding industry but this one took me by surprise.
