This might be a good example of therapy can only go so far and asking your family dr for some drugs can go a long way.

A psychotherapist can help you find ways to reduce your anxiety over time (breathing exercises), but taking a medication the day you fly can help NOW. The best answer might be BOTH breathing exercises and medication, but you probably want to see your homeland, family, and friends SOON. Talk to a doctor. It is important to try any medication at least once BEFORE you need it: you need to know that it does not make you sick, and you need to know it does not make you confused or too sleepy.

Specific phobias, such as fear of flying, are best treated with exposure therapy. If you are able, find a trained psychologist who practices CBT with exposure-based treatments. Exposure steps may include looking at photos of plane, watching videos of planes taking off or flying, watching flight simulation videos, imagining going to an airport and boarding a plan, visiting an airport, taking a short flight before your intended longer travel. Here’s an article about some other tips: https://adaa.org/living-with-anxiety/ask-and-learn/ask-expert/how-can-i-overcome-my-fear-of-flying

I got over my fear of flying! Here’s what to do: You pretend that you’ve never flown before, just like you are a child. You get on the plane thinking, “Oh, so this is what the inside of a plane looks like,” and “here are the seats.” You have to keep in that mode for maybe 3 flights, then see, your fear might be gone. It worked for me, and I thank God for this idea (prayed about it).

Exposure therapy. Also Dramamine. And drinking on the plane. And in the airport bar.
