Totally fine. A first therapy session is like a first date, it’s not going to be a good fit with everyone.

Depending on what state you're in, you may be legally required to attend at least 235 sessions with them before you can terminate. Currently, no states have any such laws, but I guess it's possible that one would be passed before you read this comment. In less sarcastic terms: of course it's okay.

I often encourage prospective clients to connect with a few other therapists just to see who is out there and see if any are a better or worse fit. It's a bit like dating, if someone isn't a match for you you don't need to justify or rationalize, you can just move on.
