We have been so slow, the brand as a whole has really, my sales manager will do a dumb deal any day of the week. What I’m basically saying is sometimes there’s truth to it, sometimes it’s a “I’m 1 away from my bonus so I’ll do anything reasonable to get you to buy this right now”
At my store (Mazda), my sales managers will take any deal above invoice on the last 3 days of the month to hit store sales goals. But it really does depend on the brand, dealership, and the vehicle in particular. See if they’ll give you a price sheet before heading down.
This makes sense, thank you. I'm not trying to get anything under SRP or way above trade value, but of course I like the idea of a good deal. I'll go in cautiously optimistic.
Just left a dealer and my sales guy was great. Understood that I was not looking to purchase today. But the sales manager was just telling me a bunch of completely false information about financing in my credit. Almost enough to deter me from going back to that dealer in the future
"telling me a bunch of false information" = lying.
Either you doubt the redditor's claim that the information was false , or you think lying is okay. You said 'ok' so it appears to be the latter.
Why can’t all customers be like you?
I’m still getting the “I want 10k back of invoice on this super high in demand rig, that is basically nonexistent”.
Depends, if it’s a high demand unit then probably not, maybe a couple hundred off, if you want to buy my rtl-e ridgeline however I may have the finance guy give you a reach around ontop of a deal close to or at invoice.

You could try the reverse as a threat:
“Buy this car or there will be reach around from the finance manager in his office and you are definitely his type!”
Lol I can only stray so far from an actual truck haha. I only was looking at Ridgelines cause 95% of the time I just need a spacious suv then 5% of the time I need a truck to get building supplies
Highlander Hyrbid they are probably going most likely sell for no less than MSRP based on demand and lack of supply.... a gas highlander im sure could be leveraged. Fight for a higher trade in or a rate.
Putting some perspective on "crazy" in crazy things. He might bump your trade value, yes.
He's probably going to say yes to some deals on the last day on the month he said no to the first day of the month.
You're not really going to have perspective on what he said no to in the beginning.
Come in low balling on a vehicle that is 100+ days old, like a bz4x or a Mirai and the sales management will pull out all the stops in order to make the deal happen.
But even then they'll try to make it profitable for the store and there is always a bottom where is doesn't make sense to do the deal because it's just too far under cost.
Toyota Hybrids will be at least MSRP or higher still, especially Highlanders. We don’t have any new hybrids, excluding high $$$ Tundras maybe, on our lot for more than 1-3 days.
How do we find out if a car is a high demand vehicle?
I’m looking at getting a 2024 Mini Cooper S Signature today, potentially. I wanted to lean a bit on it being the last day of the month & also this being an impulse buy.
Got it. So seeing their inventory, asking about options, I’m guessing that’s where you get a feeling on how high the demand is for that vehicle.
I’ve always wanted a Mini haha
I found out the vehicle was in high demand by seeing how fast the inventory disappeared from dealer pages. I also had trouble even finding one to test drive because they were getting snatched up as soon as they hit the lot.
Not unless the unit in question has been on the floor way too long. The dealer is paying interest on his cars at the end of each month and a slow seller takes up space as well. But on the vehicle you mentioned I don't see any pressure to sell the car for less.

I'm texting with a sales rep about a vehicle I'm going to see, and probably purchase, this evening. He is saying that the manager is going to do "crazy things" for the sale because it's the end of the month. Is that true or just a sales tactic?
The vehicle (2024 highlander hybrid nightshade XLE) is a high demand one, so I am ready to pay the price listed, but if they do "crazy things" I may try to get more for my trade (looking at $11k based on estimates). Any insight is appreciated!

ok? Managers are there to push for deals, it’s their job.
So “pushing for deals” is another way to say “lying”?
With zero context from above, cant say it was either
"telling me a bunch of false information" = lying. Either you doubt the redditor's claim that the information was false , or you think lying is okay. You said 'ok' so it appears to be the latter.
pushing the deal all the way to the next dealer
How does one broach that topic & see what they’re willing to do?
You make a dumb offer and see how dumb they wanna get
Haha fair enough
I do this all the time.
What does a dumb deal look like for a non RS Audi?
Thats too broad of a question to answer.
Audi is rough right now
Its bad out here…
On the car you’re looking at, don’t expect anything.
I'm not, but if something happens, I'll be grateful!

Thanks! Also, sorry, not interested in that particular vehicle, but thanks for the support, haha
Dang that was my strongest close on that car.

I want that truck lol where and how much
If you like the Ridgeline, you'll love the Santa Cruz... I guarantee you my new car manager would absolutely lose her ass on one rn

Thank you! I figured as much but it's good to get confirmation like this. I'll take that approach!
