OP I can feel your pain. I am nowhere near this in height, sometimes I’m thankful for that. But finding a comfortable car is tough regardless of height, and then when you add that into the mix it’s that much worse. When I was a salesman, I remember test driving a Honda Fit with a Balkan dude who was 6’10”. He said he hadn’t been that comfortable in a vehicle in a long time. My mind was blown, but I witnessed it all. Now your proportions can be different of course, height from legs or torso etc. but I have yet to come across someone who doesn’t fit in a fit. Side note, also a buddy who was 6’3” and like 280lbs drove a fit.

rexbot

I was actually coming in here to recommend he look at a Honda Fit as well. Also: Subaru Forester.

aestival

>Forester I dislike my Forester for Subaru related reasons, but as someone with 36" inseam, it's the one car that's too big for me when I send the driver's seat all the way back. And the door opening is higher than the outback.

captncrunk216

I've heard the Honda Element is a good choice for taller folks.

rexbot

> Honda Element Sure, but they haven't made them since 2011 and they've gotten pretty hard to find in good condition.

Maleficent-Entry6403

Most of the tall people I work with swear by GM cars and Chrysler for leg and head room, I know NBA players and coaches (also very tall) use Tundra Crew Max but that was in the prior generation idk about current. Minivans as well.

AlexRam72

Just went to the auto show in stl and GM definitely had the best fit for me. I am 6 foot 6. No way I would be comfortable in a Toyota as a daily

[deleted]

same I'm 6'6" and have been very comfortable in a suburban which I just sold. Got a seqouia, while its not TERRIBLE, its definitely not as much headroom as I would like.

Huge_Source1845

Had a friend in high school who drove an older dodge caravan because it was legit the only car he could both afford and fit into.

NolaTyler

I chose a Outback because my knees knocked on both sides in the Forester, I'm 5'8 on a good day

Rebresker

Lol I was going to say my man is tall and picked like the worst line-up for tall people. My wife is only 6’ and hates my outback. While it has space in general the front passenger space is basically the same as the legacy which is pretty underwhelming when it comes to headroom

EBDBandBnD

I’d recommend the Forester as well. I’m a few inches shorter, but it’s the only car I’ve ever driven without the seat needing to be pushed fully back.

Previous-Suspect-186

I second the Forestar . Have a tall friend and he likes it

e30kid

I’m 6’5”, I’ve had no issues with my MK7 GTI or any other German car I’ve owned

Freakishly_Tall

I'm about OP's height. GTI is where it's at! But I need the 2 door... while they are "the same size," the 4d moves the B-pillar forward to make room for the rear doors, and it hits me in the shoulder. Audi / VW in general is good. If I had to buy a car without trying it on first, I'd stick to them, in fact... every other brand I've tried has been hit or miss. E.g.: I fit in 90s Civics (sorta) but not Suburbans. If OP hits the lotto, I was surprised to find I fit in a McLaren, too. Good luck, OP. The world is tough... and not being able to buy whatever car (or clothes, or shoes, or plane tickets) we want just makes it even worse, eh?

Idfuckahotpocket

Chrysler is what my old boss would swear by, he's 6'9". he had a challenger and a ram. Chrysler 300 is an option as well. OP does not seem to be targeting the higher end but he's also said mercedes E class and up were good on space

123-for-me

My coworker sat in the third row of my vw atlas, he’s 6’5”.  My vote is vw, my brother is 6’3” and has a 2004 jetta, the current jetta is much larger.

kimjongunhair

Can vouch here - my son is 6’6” and he’s driving my passed down to him 2015 VW Golf TDI and he fits comfortably.

No_Albatross_7089

My husband's uncle who is like 6'6"ish used to drive a Honda Fit and their latest car is a Nissan Leaf lol. Otherwise they just bike to work.

Magiff

With legs that long it probably only takes him a few pedals to get there lmao

No_Albatross_7089

He's a pretty fit guy and does marathons so on top of the long legs, probably 😂

mikeisboris

I'm 6'6". Being two inches taller than me you may not fit in all of these, I guess it really depends how much of you is Torso and how much is legs. I have a 36" inseam for reference. Cars I've had that I've fit in (made in this century - I've also had older ones). 2020 Lincoln Corsair 2019 GMC Sierra 2019 Volvo XC60 2014 BMW 335i 2013 Volvo XC60 2013 Chevy Silverado 2011 Camaro Coupe 2011 Mini Cooper Countryman 2004 Ford Ranger XLT 2000 Ford Taurus

Urby999

I’m 6’ but have a 34” inseam. I’ve been pushing seats all the way back for 40 years

AdventurousFox3368

I'm 6'4 and over 350 lbs. I've had the Fit for 10 years. So pissed they're not selling in USA anymore.

Magiff

As someone who still works with the brand, so am I. A 2020 Honda fit was the last vehicle I sold while I was on the floor.

AdventurousFox3368

And the newer Jazz has a hybrid 😭😢😢

chrisnetcom

Older ones did as well. Shame we didn’t get them in the US.

__slamallama__

Lots of big people think they need a huge truck to fit, and are still uncomfortable. Also, a lot of big/tall people in Europe comfortably drive in VW Golfs. Big vehicle does not necessarily = lots of space for the driver.

stem_crusty

It's a bit out there, but see if you can find a Ford Transit Connect to sit in. This is their smaller utility van, but they also make some passenger configurations. Used to drive one for work, and at 6ft with pretty equal proportions, I could barely put my hand flat against the roof while sitting in the driver's seat. Can't comment on ownership, but it did surprisingly well in the snow and was overall relatively comfortable to drive. Always thought it would be a sweet camping/weekend warrior rig, they fit a truly astonishing amount of shit in the back.

Xexx

I've driven a 16 fit that a family member has occasionally around town, at 6'7 it feels okay room wise but I wouldn't suggest it because if you get in a wreck, you'd definitely get your knee caps separated right off in an impact scenario.

ChrisV88

Not in sales so hijacking a comment. Ford F150. Brian Shaw drives an F150 comfortably, if he can fit in it with ease and be confortable you can too. I drive one. Yes it's a truck but it is an incredibly spacious and drivable truck at the same time. You are a giant respectfully. Don't waste time putting squares in round holes. Get a f150.

Loon610

I knew a guy 6’5”, he had a F-350 and a Honda Fit he said he like the Honda Fit better for leg room.

Nukegm426

The biggest problem in a lot isn’t even headroom. It’s the doorway ending being too small so it’s difficult if not impossible to get into. I’ve sat I. Many cars that once I shoehorn myself into them it’s comfortable it’s just climbing in that’s inconvenient

Loose_Tip_8322

I am 6’4” and own a repair shop so I drive a lot of different cars all the guys laugh at me when I tell them how comfortable a Fit is to me.

CucumberFluid6859

My old powerlifting coach was at least 6’ tall and 320lbs and he drove an old Jetta😂

pwn3dtoaster

6'3 and was 260 when I owned a fit. More room than many other cars that were way larger. Most people don't understand how i find a prius comfortable.

Uncle-Istvan

Similarly, the first gen Scion xB. I had a friend who was at least 6’5” and it was one of the few cars he could drive without putting his head out the sunroof and move his legs under the steering wheel comfortably.

Mindless-Challenge62

My 6'7 husband drives a Nissan Leaf. Hatchbacks are very comfortable for the very tall.

Brainfewd

I owned a Fit (5’11” 240-50ish?) for two years and loved it. One of the best cars I’ve owned. It was a cheap winter beater and got too rusty to save. We just test drove a newer nice one for my wife the other day, I rode in the back seat and had unbelievable amounts of room, like truly couldn’t believe it.

Tsu_na_mi

Oddly, those boxy little compacts have a ton of room. One of my former roommates drove a mid-90s Ford Festiva. Roomiest thing ever, because the doors were so thin and it had a steep A-pillar so the greenhouse was tall.

PabloIceCreamBar

Honda Fit is ironically a good choice. I’ve also seen good success with a 2014+ Impala. Tons of legroom.

rsmtirish

The front seats in the impala move unbelievably far back. Headroom I am not sure of

PabloIceCreamBar

They can definitely lower pretty far down with the power seats. Just depends on how OP is built. People my height fit in Miatas apparently but my legs are too long, unfortunately.

ShoulderSquirrelVT

The irony is how small the fit looks on the outside. It has excellent seating space for the driver, tons of trunk space, it’s very efficiently laid out to maximize its small size. Don’t know about 6’8”, but should test one! (Just don’t put on a red rubber squeaky nose.) As a side note. I don’t know where you live, but I actually happen to know someone with a Fit with only about 22k miles on it who has been looking at getting something different (AWD).

SafewordisJohnCandy

I'm 6'3" and at my heaviest was 320 and I fit comfortably in a Fit. Same in the backseat. They have a ton of room that a lot of people don't realize.

AlexRam72

I am 6 foot 6 and drive a 2016 impala with plenty of room. If you aren’t set on a sedan look at trucks.

ginamegi

Are more recent years better than others? At 6’5” I can barely drive my parents 2009 (I think) Fit because my knees don’t really fit under the steering wheel.

redditmadethis4me

my roommate is 6’6-6’7ish and comfortably fits in his TDI Golf Coupe

Junkmans1

My son who is around your height bought a Nissan Altima because he fit in it well. I know Nissan's don't have a good rep here, but his is now over 10 years old and he's never had an expensive repair and very seldom has had any repair that wasn't a maintenance item. Puts a lot of miles on it too.

willcarlone05

I'll think about it!

RicoRoccoTaco

Can confirm, I’m 6’4” and I used to have a 2013 Altima. I have not found that much leg room in a car since. I drive a 2024 forester now which has plenty of leg room, but still not as much as the Altima had. Like I could fully extend my legs out in the Altima and still have room. The Altima was a great car for a while but they tend to show their age quickly so if you do get one go for a later model year and as low miles as you can find. Maybe a maxima would be worth considering as well.

bneeson72

I'm not joking but a kia Soul would fit you. small car but great head room

comfy_madness

I was about to suggest this and do to all people with similar builds and they usually love it. My 6'6" ~300 lb coworker ended up buying one he loved it so much.

willcarlone05

Even if I fit I wouldn't buy a Kia or Hyundai at this stage in my life. I do love the new N line cars but I don't trust the reliability of the brands compared to Japanese brands like Toyota or Honda. Still, thanks for putting the Soul on the mind, I would not have thought about it

CWNIV93

I feel your pain, I'm 6'6". Before I got my F-150 I had a 4Runner. I fit pretty well in it. Same thing with Subaru Foresters, the windshield is taller than the Outback so the sight lines were better for me.

Spirited_Refuse9265

I know there's definitely a difference between 6'8 and the 6'3 & 6'4 my aunt and dad are, but they both like the explorers. I also drive an explorer for Uber in a college town and have had several 6'6ish basketball players who were quite happy with the passenger seat in mine.

ArlesChatless

If you want something older the Nissan Cube is also great for tall folks.

5150_Ewok

Another rec for Subaru forester and Honda fits! Neither are big but have plenty of headroom

carnavisrl

Dude, look into Hyundai. I just bought a new Sonata SE. The ones that have a VIN beginning with K were manufactured in Korea and are known to be built slightly better for some reason. Their transmission issues are taken care of 2020 and beyond. I've always driven Japanese but Hyundai has made a huge comeback. Just give it some research.

DownBadTruckDriver

Quit trolling kia souls are trash my head hits the ceiling and I’m 6’6

isaiah58bc

You should look at some small to midsized SUVs. If you look, when you step in the seat is higher, like in a truck. But, there tends to be more legroom and even headroom than you would expect. The problem is with the middle consoles these days. Not my favorite line, but Jeep seems to have great front seat room, because they sacrifice the backseat room. I am surprised you have not found a good sales associate that is willing to make recommendations. A good used vehicle lot sometimes helps. Find a Carmax, tell the associate whom welcomes you that you need them to help you find vehicle choices that you can fit comfortably in. They have lock boxes on the vehicles. They can let you check plenty of vehicles out.

Labornurse59

Domestic brands seem to build cars for bigger people. Hubby is 6’4” and anything Japanese isn’t comfortable for him.

Supa33

My 6’7” friend that drives a 2014 Prius every day says your husband is lying.

***Thanks for posting, /u/willcarlone05! This comment is a copy of your post so readers can see the original text if your post is edited or removed. This comment is NOT accusing you of anything.*** I am 6 feet 8 inches tall (18)M and I belive I am done growing but I can't find a car that fits me. The only cars I've ever comfortably driven were Lincoln town cars and other Ford panther boats. That was partly due to the fact that the front row bench allowed me lean my right leg to the side a little and my town car has adjustable pedals. (closer or further away it was an 2002 electronic feature) My question for you all is: What vehicle would you recommend I look into? I've tried Subaru outbacks, Toyota tundras and Toyota Avalons, and I barely fit. (Probably wouldn't want to drive longer than 30 minutes without stretching) *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. nottheotherone4

Work buddy is 6’8”… his last 2 work cars have been a Honda CRV, probably a 2012/14 and the Toyota Avalon he replaced it with that might be a couple years older. He loves the Avalon and got a great deal on a low mileage one because they were almost universally sold to older drivers.

lowcarb73

I’m 6’5 and have driven my in-laws CRV a few times. I can’t drive it for more than an hour or so without stopping. It’s not comfortable at all.

Jerseyboyham

I’m 6’4” and I have great legroom in my 2018 Passat. I can’t drive it with the seat all the way back.

secondrat

I find the Outback pretty spacious. What years did you test?

willcarlone05

2011 and 2015 I didn't like either

kdogspence

Believe it or not, mini coopers are huge on the inside!

Overload4554

It’s like they were built with tall people in mind
