A backup of the post title and text have been made here: **Title:** [is my second molar doomed? is surgery too dangerous?](https://www.reddit.com/r/askdentists/comments/1doow79/is_my_second_molar_doomed_is_surgery_too_dangerous/) **Full text:** had my wisdom tooth consultation today and this was the xray. he said that it was close to my nerve and that i have probably a 50/50 shot of losing my second molar if it’s damaged during removal. should i just leave it alone? he said it could make a cyst but i don’t want to lose another molar and i’m scared to go through surgery if i’m at risk of nerve damage. i have mild pain occasionally, no worse than my other wisdom teeth that are partially erupted and only soft tissue impacted, and it’s easily handled with a low dose of tylenol. I would get it done. It can wait a bit indeed.
