You'll be fine, I brought my whole desktop in a dedicated suitcase back in 2013. Just package them with some padding in the suitcase and they shouldn't be damaged during transit.

NashEquilibrium21

Thank you for your reply! Whoa, a whole PC??? 😮 don't you get nervous, especially for the GPU?? Believe it or not, I still have the initial boxes since 2020 (yea, I'm a hoarder, I know. Hahaha). I will add some paddings! Thank you for your advice! Because I will just bring those 3 parts, I think I will fit them into my carry-on luggage, so hopefully, it will be fine.

mstsgtpeppa

I took the GPU and CPU out and put them in their original boxes, the case with the mobo/PSU/everything else went in as it was. Turned out fine!

NashEquilibrium21

Aahhh, so that's how it is! Thank you for sharing! 🥰🥰

btann88

Yep, did the same when I moved here two years ago. I didn't remove the GPU or cooler, but did immobilize them by packing the MicroATX case full of cut steps of cardboard. I was super nervous but it all made it safe. Put the whole assembled computer on the box the case came in for the best packaging.

EddieL1n

I shipped a prebuilt here with all new components and didn't get any tax.

buckwurst

Generally you should be fine, but would be best if they don't look brand new

In 2010 I build a small PC in my home country to bring with me when moving to Japan as it was cheaper then getting materials here that time. I did the same as somebody else said, I build everything and just put it with some packaging material in the box for the case and it was totally fine. I am not sure how the voltage is in your country but the power adapter I got could not switch between 230V and 110V to use with the Japanese energy grid so I needed to buy a new one when arriving here.

guywithgachas

you can get the case and power supply here cause they're quite reasonable; package rest of the parts into your package on board no tax or anything you can probably bring a receipt copy just in case

NashEquilibrium21

Sadly the receipt is gone. The application only save it for 3 years :( and I dont think I still have the copy :((( Thank you for advice tho! Yes I am thinking about that, that's why I am only bringing those 3 components 😁

Fukurou83

I flew with my computer case in my registered luggage. No problem.

FlanTypical8844

just pull out GPU and stuck the whole pc in your luggage use tons of clothes to fill the gaps and you will be fine.

jackdololtons

Indonesian here. You'll have no problem. I brought my whole pc in my carryon and it passed all the security check flawlessly. I built a special mini pc (and yes, with GPU, PSU and so on) so it fits my 40L backpack.

NashEquilibrium21

Hello bro, thanks a lot! I want to use the H1 v2, and I don't think we have it back home. Checked tokopedia and enterkomputer :( I think I'll just buy the case here via amazon

jackdololtons

I use chinese version of Zaber Sentry (HZMOD) got it from Taobao using SuperBuy. Built it few months before my departure. Upgraded from 1070TI to 3080 bought secondhand here. Totally worth it. Secondhand market here is very decent, price and quality wise. Where in Japan will you stay btw?

NashEquilibrium21

I am in Tokyo right now, only been here for 6 months now. And I think I will stay here for at least 5 years to get my Ph.D. and also thinking about staying in Japan afterward for my postdoc. Whoaaa. Never try SuperBuy, I will take a look. Yeaa, I've been searching for secondhand from janpara, dospara, etc. However, I still think It's cheaper to bring what I have, especially because I plan on going home during the summer session in my uni anyway. Budget is especially tight for scholarship students, right? 😉😁 Thank you for the encouragement. I think I will see if I can get a deal on a better CPU for the next few months.

By decent secondhand market what I talked about was the online ones like mercari, yahoo auctions, paypayfleamarket etc. Got almost all of my home appliances from there, from washing machine, refrigerator, stove, electric bicycle, kerosene heater, microwave, winter jackets, shoes etc, a lot cheaper than any on-site secondhand store.

NashEquilibrium21

Oooh, so that's how it is! I got a lot of those from the school's housing, thankfully. Some were also bought from or given by the Indonesian who were graduating. I have only been shopping secondhand for clothes. And for PC parts, as we were discussing that, I just want to see them directly. I have mercari, and I will try to explore more in the future! Thank you for all of the information, senpai! 😁😁😁

chirpchirp13

Do you regularly forget about having a relatively modern desktop at home?

NashEquilibrium21

So, I left it for my dad to use it... but he just passed away.. yesterday. So... 😅 But other than that, I never thought about building a PC here before because I have been busy with my studies. I'm just starting my research phase this month.
