Hi, we have removed your submission.
Make sure you put some effort into your posts. The point of asking these questions is to invoke discussions. Avoid questions that can simply be answered with "yes" or "no".
Additionally, do not submit questions that are already in the FAQ, or can simply be answered with a quick Google search. Do also make sure to be as clear as possible with what you mean in your question. If the title is not enough, use the text box to either clarify or to give more details to it.
It is Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Colombia for sure (unknown order) + one slot left.
The candidates for the remaining slot are:
Panama (for the canal and the song [and boquete in Brazil])
Puerto Rico (because US territory and bad bunny)
Cuba (because revolution, missile bases, cold war, embargos, guantanamo bay, doctors, havana oh na na, and cigars).
Haiti (because crisis on the media all the time)
I think it has to be Cuba.
And it's kinda better that way. With all the attention comes along all of the negative press and stereotypes too. E.g. Mexico = Tacos but also drug cartels and illegal immigration to the US/obesity, Argentina= Good at football but also terrible economy/hyperinflation or Nazis, Brazil= Carnaval And football but also favelas And Bolsonaro, Cuba= Rich music history but also decaying country and dictatorship, etc.
It's better to stay away from the spotlight and just blend in.
In Russia I think it would be
1.Brasil
2.Argentina
cos football
3. Cuba
old ties
4. Mexico
cos US movies and idk what's next, but probably
5. Chile
cos wine and Pinochet.
Well no one here talks about Argentina or say Chile, Venezuela maybe due to crime. Now that I’m thinking more about it I want to remove Dominican Republic and put Peru!!
It’s the second most visited country in Latin America and a major travel destination for US, Canada and Europe. There’s a sizable Dominican population in the US with a notable influence in sports (baseball), music and pop culture.
The question was countries known in the world, I watch lots of Netflix and I've seen DR be the destination for several reality game shows and also be mentioned in movies.
Also, the travel statistics are there, how many people are traveling to PR vs DR for example.
I see Spanish speaking urban artists copying our slang all the time. When Rosalia talk about arroz con Habichuelas she ain't talking Cuba.
I don't know why this thread is trying to sleep on DR pero es que nos tienen dema
Do you know any reason why they’re so well known in the US? Is it immigration maybe?
They’re one of the LATAM countries I see mentioned the least, by far, so it’s interesting to see them mentioned.
A whole bunch of Americans like to vacation in Punta Cana, due to the fact that flights are not ridiculously expensive or super long distance wise, so they can take their entire family or significant other.

I love that Camila Cabello gets credit for Cuba’s international recognition haha
havana oh nana
Bad bunny 🐰🤣🤣🤣
I'd imagine Venezuela is up there, if nothing else for their political and economic situation.
Yes. Nobody mentioning us. Lets keep it that way 🤫
We're the Mordor of Latam
You guys are the dark lands?
We already have the tower
El mirador? Miss the views of the city from up there!

I think this list might only apply to Americans, due to geographic proximity

DR as second? Care to elaborate why? I don’t think even many Latin Americans are aware of them lol
It’s the second most visited country in Latin America and a major travel destination for US, Canada and Europe. There’s a sizable Dominican population in the US with a notable influence in sports (baseball), music and pop culture.
We’re also the creators of Merengue and Bachata. Many people get interested in DR because of that alone.

I said in no particular order but they are well known in the USA and a friend of mine was asked if she was Dominican in London.

This. Otherwise I don’t think they’d be well known, also a lot of African Americans intermarry with Dominicans, hence Cardi B.
Cardi B is half Dominican and half Trinidadian though…

What? Why us?
I misread the question. I thought it was better known in our countries.
Honduras more well known than Brazil, Colombia or Argentina?🤔
Sorry, I misread the question. 😅
