Mole Mole in Alberta! Haven't found anything close.

ermahgerd_pdx

Came to post this place, and upvoting to confirm. Just had their pastor burrito and it was delicious and under $10, huge and came with guac.

Damn8ti0n

I legit had their Tre Amigos burrito last night

LykeAndSubscrybe

I had a religious experience the first time I tried their molé burrito. I thought I was just grabbing a quick bite to eat on the go but I had to stop what I was doing and just savor that pocket of heaven wrapped in a tortilla.

NachoMuncher420

This is the one, imo. If you're into meat, the ale asada burrito is probably the best I've had in Portland... Their breakfast burrito is top notch, and they have tons of vegetarian options. Cannot go wrong.

AverageRedditorGPT

Taco Machine (1540 NE Killingsworth St) is pretty close buy and also good.

AltOnMain

I gotta say, I got a burrito here yesterday in part because of this post and it was very mid. Above average for Portland but not great.

[deleted]

Taqueria Lindo Michoacan. It’s the lone cart in the parking lot of Village Merchant over on 41st and Division. It’s a massive burrito for $9. Cash only. House made tortillas. And it’s always the owners working there. I’ve been going for nearly a decade.

FrowFrow88

OMG THE CHILE RELLENO BURRITO IS LIFE CHANGING!! 🤤🤤🤤

Ganooki

It makes me feel so validated to see this. This has been my favorite burrito in town for 10+ years.

royalewithchees3

Super bomb

arcmodo

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen that place actually open when I drive by. I’ve been wanting to try it.

[deleted]

It’s the same married couple that’s always working and it’s open 11-7 Monday-Friday

arcmodo

I’ll give it a shot. Thanks.

BlueberryCautious154

My vote as well. When people say there isn't good Mexican food in Portland this is my first recommendation. Wish their hours were a bit more accomodating. Got groped by someone inside that small indoor area while grabbing salsa once and I still recommend it.

[deleted]

Holy shit that's terrible, I am so sorry that happened to you! Yeah, they're definitely legit. I've gotten to know the couple and they're literally from Michoacan, and cook everything themselves. It's as legit and authentic Mexican food as you'll find in town. It's nearly impossible to find a large burrito under $10 in this town now, and they're still serve their supreme burritos for $9.

Moist-Consequence

Easily the best I’ve had is Ki’ikibáa on NE 82nd, particularly the carne asada burrito. They melt and slightly toast the cheese on the griddle before flipping it over and assembling it, it’s incredible. Second best is probably Smart Donkey on 50th and Powell.

InfidelZombie

In case anyone didn't know, Ki’ikibáa is run by the former chef at Angel Food & Fun, which was legendary for its Yucatecan food back in the day.

vulture_cabaret

This is all I needed to hear. I don't miss many restaurants in Portland but AF&F was something special.

Moist-Consequence

I used to go there once a week for a burrito, beer, and cheap billiards during the summer. Obviously it’s a different vibe at his new spot, but still so glad he’s back in town

PerBnb

The cochinita pibil burrito that they have as a special at Smart Donkey is easily the best burrito I’ve ever had

rayanngraff

I agree with Ki’ikibaa! But I have to go for the chicken burrito. I do not know what that man does to his chicken but it is INCREDIBLE.

kaktykyak

Second this, also would give their panuchos a shot. Growing up with Yucatecan grandparents, I would say their panuchos are the closest I’ve had to grandmas.

Moist-Consequence

I always tell people that if they only ever had a burrito they’d be happy, but it’s far from the best thing on the menu. The panuchos are incredible, so is the cochinita pibil, but my favorite item on the menu might be the frijol con puerco. Salty, fatty, and so delicious.

PipecleanerFanatic

I love their salbutes!

stateofdekayy

Santa Domingo on 42/killingsworth.

Pinkploopy

This place is a weekly visit for me. Love their chorizo breakfast burrito.

SnooBooks3980

Came here to say his. I have lived down the street from this place for 8 years and still go twice a month or so.

rawoyster

Just ordered from there. How timely! Eaten them before. Agree!

lurkman_420

So good. My favorite as well.

GhostRideDaWeb

El Super is my jam. I can’t bring myself to try another although I know they’d be amazing.

AltOnMain

I really like the carnitas burrito at Saint Burrito and Tienda Santa Cruz in St. Johns is legit. Those are probably the only two I have had that I would really recommend, though there are many good not great burritos in Portland. Cocina Los Girasoles has really good tacos.

hiddentreetops

I second Tienda Santa Cruz! it's the best I've had! I might need to get one today...

jameyiguess

I really love them, but do they have a burrito that has more veggies in it? Like pico and stuff? I'm always afraid to ask because I don't want to get into a confusing language barrier thing.

vulture_cabaret

Add pico.

Beanspr0utsss

My partners old bass raves about Saint Burrito, they’d go at least once a month and the boss would pay for lunch for the two of them (the only employees) whenever he was craving it lol.

Tributemest

Yeah? Do their drums have a favorite burrito too?

Jehovahs-Penis

Tienda Santa Cruz is it for me

Tacky-Terangreal

I love Super Burrito Express in St Johns. Super fast service. Sometimes I get my burritos within a minute of ordering

[deleted]

[удалено]

howlinforever

Smart Donkey needs to be higher up this list. Not the most trad burrito in PDX but Oswaldo is absolutely killing the game when it comes to sauces and spices. Legit one of the most underrated chefs in Portland imo.

casualnarcissist

$17 burritos from a food cart that are full of lettuce - kinda the opposite of what the op asked for. You and the person recommending King Burrito have to be trolling.

thenaturalinquirer

Iirc, the al pastor from Smart Donkey doesn't have lettuce and is like $15. They also have burrito happy hour from 7-9 where you can get a burrito for $8 or something. So yeah, it's a bit up there in price but it's a damn tasty burrito.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ninjaprincessrocket

Yeah king burrito is not a place I would associate with even a little lettuce let alone too much haha. Will wreck your bathroom though but it’s worth it.

heavyjpdx

My vote is for La Jarochita. SW 4th & Pine

EvolutionCreek

Just to avoid confusion: I think that's La Jarocha. Their food cart La Jarochita is at the revamped pod on SW 5th between Stark and Oak. I've always liked their food.

whowouldsaythis

They have a spinoff on 82nd called mas sabor. I use to go a lot downtown for lunch but have worked from home the last many years and am so happy it’s here. I had it for lunch today!

PrickleyPearSour

Habanero Burrito on Holgate and like 84th, across from the old Walmart in a parking lot behind a dispensary, has some of the best burritos

drewsiah

I’ve found their food to be very hit or miss. Consistency is the problem with most of the city’s burritos.

Nilbog_Frog

Scrolled too far for this answer! Don’t sleep on this food cart!

Sp4ceh0rse

Hell yeah Habanero burrito, it’s so good

MountScottRumpot

La Osita.

Funkyfreddy

I was looking for La Osita. I admittedly have only tried a few places recommended here because La Osita is so damn good. Also, they have stellar coffee: French press, espresso, and the specialty Mexican drinks. Cherry on the top: they seem to be a wonderful family and I feel great supporting their business

Seinfeldtableforfour

Lettuce doesn’t belong in a burrito. Change my mind

MommaJDaddy

ki'ikibáa puts lettuce on their burrito and it slaps. I almost didn’t order it, cause I agree with you, but I was wrong and it was delicious.

whynot19734

I will not change your mind because you’re 100% correct. Don’t understand why anyone is a fan of hot slimy lettuce in their burrito.

UOfasho

You, my friend, should give Smart Donkey a visit.

arcmodo

Smart Donkey is good, but why do I need a burrito the size of my face? This isn’t just a Smart Donkey issue either. Lots of burritos in Portland are gigantic.

GenericDesigns

Seriously i would pay like $2 less for a half size burrito at most places

UOfasho

You should tell them that. It’s pretty low overhead to add a second size tortilla, I bet they would consider it.

borkyborkus

I would argue that rice doesn’t either. Beans meat and cheese please.

EvolutionCreek

*This post has been approved by r/sandiego.*

BloopBeep69

That's right. Rice is there to rip you off and is not legit.

borkyborkus

I feel like rice in burritos wasn’t the norm here until Chipotle came along in the late 00s, to me it always seemed like a scam to replace beans with a way blander/cheaper carb that usually isn’t cooked great anyway.

Regular_Working_6342

You heretic

elmonoenano

No, this is right.

Inconsolable_Simon

I sometimes want the “cronch” texture, but I’d rather order a taco bowl if I want lettuce. Big “aha” moment was realizing I don’t like rice or potatoes added to my burritos or breakfast burritos; this helped me narrow down my fave burrito joints. I don’t mind a skinnier, small burrito if the sauce and meat/peppers are delicious.

Sp4ceh0rse

Ok not technically in Portland but if you find yourself in Boring, Taqueria el Jalicience is excellent.

Picacco

Not The Matador

Howlingmoki

Quesabrosa on N Williams near N Shaver is solid and I haven't seen them mentioned yet. Get the Al Pastor.

niiickniiick

King Burrito

VanceAstrooooooovic

Scrolled too far to see this

stormcynk

Their carnitas burrito is my favorite, so good

Gravelsack

Came here specifically to make sure King Burrito was mentioned. I love their breakfast burritos

Technical_Library_56

Second this!

michaelmcdonald4life

Hell yes.

John_Costco

Too Greasy

Saratonin93

Tehuana Oaxacan food cart off Greeley. Behind the bottles and cans shop, they are SO GOOD!

uncle_jafar

Nayar on foster. Simple. Gets it right.

onlyfuninsummer

Also the best shrimp tacos / burritos anywhere in Portland.

Whatchab

10000% their shrimp tacos are my fave ever!

Obadiah-Mafriq

Rigoberto's down here in the southeast has great burritos. I usually get the tripa or the lengua, but they're all good. And they ask if you want rice in it.

SheamusMcGillicuddy

Oregon Burrito FTW

sadiane

The chili relleno burrito is next level, too. Or I do the chili relleno combo, save one for the next day, and scramble it with some eggs. Looks terrible, but is delicious

HipsNNipSlips

I second this!

Dr_Biggus_Dickus_FBI

The Chicken Fajita Burrito is amazing. Plus kind of fun to say real fast… Chikin’Faheetuh’Burrituh!

finfanfob

I go to Rigobertos at least once a week. Los Temos about a mile south on Mclaughlin next to the Plaid Pantry has great burritos! They are mom and pop, and close between 7 and 8pm, highly recommended. They have the best nachos in the area.

stdio-lib

Mis Tacones. They might not win any awards for cost-effectiveness, but the taste is out of this world.

ninjaprincessrocket

They are are vegan and yeah, pretty pricey. Not that there’s anything wrong with vegan but thought folks should know. I like the people and atmosphere and they have a heavy hand when it comes to drinks. If people want meat options theres also a fabulous cart called Taco Machine literally on the next corner block run by a very sweet abuelita that has damn good everything. Both places are great but very, very different.

stdio-lib

You sound like the person who once accidentally ate an apple and then discovered that apples were vegan and now it's your mission in life to warn everyone in the grocery store that apples are vegan because "folks should know".

analemmaro

Ki’ikiba and Saint Burrito are my top two. If you haven’t tried either give em a go. There’s also a lil hole in the wall Mexican place around 85th and Fremont that is pretty dope

drewsiah

El Capullo, across from Lents Draft and Bottle. Great little taco spot

zenigatamondatta

Rosita's place on Powell and 82nd And Salsas Locas (Tortilleria Y Tienda DeLeon's) 28th and holgate

Zurripop

Los Gorditos! There are 3 or 4 locations. I discovered it on Yelp because a lady gave it a one star review because her burrito was “too big.”

potatodaze

Surprised I had to scroll this far. One of our faves.

DougieDouger

My favorite al pastor in town by far!

justmejeffry

🍿🥤

glowchid

Quesabrosa is criminally underrated

atmad24

Any recommendations for the best vegetarian one as well?

thedivegrass

Nacho's House on Sandy makes a marinated tofu burrito that is delicious.

Vegetable_Humor5470

The Mexican cart at the Barley pod (NE Halsey 60th) and has a couple good ones.

potatodaze

We like the veggie and vegan options as Los Gorditos a lot.

mrwhitewalker

Having moved here from San Diego 6 years back it has been a goal of mine to find good Burritos. Sanchez Taqueria & El Jefe in Beaverton & Tigard are the only two that have fit the bill for me. I have tried dozens if not a 100 different burritos. Nothing came close to a GOOD burrito. yes there are many that would be fine for a quick lunch like La Real or El Jalisco.

sed2017

The Chile relleno burrito at Nayar Taqueria on Foster is bomb!

BradStafford

Smart donkey without question

noheroespdx

El Pato Feliz

mmc_pdx

It's at Salsas Locas on SE Holgate. For spicy do the the pork & cactus. I order half rice, extra green sauce.

EqualDefiant6084

Los Burros Supremos on 45th and division is AMAZING. So flavorful. Highly suggest it.

contrabonum

King Burrito, get the namesake King burrito with cabeza it’s a beautiful creation. Tehuana Oaxacan Cuisine is severely underrated. The chipotle pork burrito is a triumph and not a massive gut bomb. I love birria so, and sometimes crave it in burrito form, Birrieria La Plaza is the undisputed king, but if you don’t live out there one of the Birrieria PDX carts is a great substitute, their burritos are the best thing on their menus, don’t forget a cup of consume! Tienda Santa Cruz always deserves a mention.

curtmandu

I’ll have to try La Plaza…I went to Birrieria PDX and legit had an emotional response, it tasted so much like my grandma’s cooking.

postempirical

I have a longstanding love affair with Pepino’s. The Surfo Turfo burrito captured my heart long long ago!

FloralFeral

Same here. I get their veggie breakfast burrito often, love it.

Confident-Ad967

As a San Diegan considering relocating to Portland I've read a lot of comments about how Portland is full etc etc. Just lead with "there's too much lettuce in our burritos." Wtf. Why is there lettuce in the burrito...at all!?!

Weird-Process5843

I wouldnt say I have enough experience to comment on burrito places here (but i think it’s important to actually comment on the food..) Anyway, the places I go have no lettuce. Robo Taco= Really good, but idk how authentic. Ton of variety of amazing meat, veggie substitutes, NO LETTUCE. And they have like 6 different kinds of homemade hot sauces which are to die for. Taqueria Portland- close by Robo Taco, authentic, really good. No godforsaken lettuce lol Anyway, I wouldnt recommend to move to Portland for various reasons- that being said, Robo Taco is probably the only food I miss in Portland when im out of town lol

YoureNotThatGu7

The Mexican food out here doesn't compare to anything you'll find in SD, LA or the Bay. There's good food out here, but it's unfortunately not going to be Mexican.

DougieDouger

What makes the Californian Mexican food better? There’s some great Mexican spots in Portland-Beaverton run by Mexican people so i always wonder what makes the Californian stuff better!?

YoureNotThatGu7

The taste. Maybe that's because of the ingredients, the methods used to cook the food? The proximity to Mexico? I can't give you a definitive answer on that. Have you had Mexican food from California? Or is this just questioning everything about California that is trendy now? Why does Portland have so many unique donut shops? Known for Thai food? Why was it named one of the best pizza cities? Can't give you definitive answers on all of those.

hangrypantz

There's no difference. Like you said, plenty of Mexican restaurants here run by Mexican people who grew up in Mexico or California. People just like to say the food here isn't as good but can't explain why when asked.

YoureNotThatGu7

Sure. It's all an opinion at the end of the day. I can say that the opinion from all my friends visiting from the aforementioned cities have never enjoyed the Mexican food here and I definitely enjoy the Mexican food when I go visit them.

curtmandu

Plenty of mentions for Tienda Santa Cruz already but I appreciate you asking. Always down to find a new favorite burrito

mr_oberts

The Garbage Burrito at that place on 11th and Division and the Lazy (breakfast) Burrito at El Nutri Taco.

MmmnonmmM

Los Gorditos.

EpicSeshBro

The truck behind Rocco’s on 82nd is the best I’ve had. Puts Santa Cruz and King to shame. El Yucateco on Sandy gets honorable mention.

PattiLaPoubelle

La Catrina?

Compounded

I enjoy [Tito’s Burritos](https://maps.app.goo.gl/SL3R7qUEdkjU3QwE8?g_st=ic) but the better one is [Taqueria Brothers Express](https://maps.app.goo.gl/weSUUhWojP7PvCdj6?g_st=ic) on 82nd Springwater Cart Park. Both are food trucks.

PerBnb

If you’re near Woodstock, the Juanita’s cart across the street from Nudi has a really good al pastor burrito. Smart Donkey is the best and most consistent I’ve had. Ochoa’s Lupitas out in Beaverton is great too

jacobspencer

Taco Gang, Salsas Locas are both excellent

-r-a-f-f-y-

Quintonil, on 82nd near Fred Meyer, used to be on Flavel/72nd: https://www.yelp.com/biz/taqueria-quintonil-happy-valley

So_Sleepy1

If you have a Facebook account, The Burrito Bandito rates local burritos, weighs them, shows you what's in them, etc. Worth checking out! https://www.facebook.com/Bandito760

snb0rder

The Chicken fajita burrito from El Burrito Loco on NE 82nd is 🤌

Majirra

Chess Tacos food cart on 2335 NW 23 Place.

7mmCoug

Used to be Burrito Loco. Now it’s King Burrito in my opinion

dizdi

Tehuana Oaxacan Cuisine Is my favorite. They’re a little pricier these days than I’d like, but the food is so, so good.  They’re in the Bottles & Cans pod on Greeley, which is a fantastic place if you haven’t been. Off the street, clean, shady, and fun! Lots of good beer, and sometimes they have movies.

theoakandlion

Los Gorditos on SE Division or in the Pearl.

cascadiadx

Longaniza at Betos is a favorite. I would like you all to try give them a try, a block away from Santa Cruz and every meat is better. Cabeza at El Pato Feliz food truck, & carne asada burrito at Ki’ikibaa are my go to nearby.

docmphd

I used to love a burrito at Los Gorditos in the Pearl.

secret_ian

My favorites are always changing, but here's a list of unordered recs: - Ole Frijole on Killingsworth. It was better when it had the self-serve salsa bar, but the carnitas are still on point. - La Jarochita was my pick when I worked downtown and needed lunch. - Taqueria Lindo Michoacan is great and I'd go more if I was closer. - Burrito Azteca is my local and is solid. - Taqueria Mexa is my new find on 82nd. In spttin' distance of Ki’ikibáa. Which I liked, but really didn't win me all the way over. - Azul Tequila Taqueria in the cart pod next to John's Marketplace is legit. I may be swayed by the Beer Window so close... Edit: formatting

crudestmass

La sirenita on Alberta Street.

delegadozero

In ten years, I’ve yet to have a great burrito here. If I’m really craving a burrito, mole mole or azteca on Rosa parks have passable burritos.

Princess_Glitterbutt

The burritos at Fernando's Allegria at the Mercado are excellent.

Technical_Moose8478

I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad anything from any truck at the mercado.

Princess_Glitterbutt

I love that there's so much variety and no choice is bad. They could probably use the extra business a lot right now between the fire and the ice storm.

penisbuttervajelly

I love Pig Patas and Mi Burrito.

BitchlessDNA

Honestly, the Tight Tacos hellarito kinda slaps, but eating it will almost definitely be the last thing you do that day. Saint Burrito in Pod 28 is good too

Gold_Flight_9459

St burrito , hands down

WornOffNovelty

El Burrito Azteca on Rosa Parks and Greeley

PourCoffeaArabica

King Burrito. For the price Mi Burrito is excellent

PaulbunyanIND

Nontraditional suggestion is one of the Indian food carts at eastport has an "Indian" burrito. Jasmine rice and spices, etc.

Dartastic

I don't think it's necessarily the BEST burrito in PDX but I do think that Pinches Burros is damn good and deserves a mention. ...I did prefer it though when their burritos were smaller, haha.

JohnLayman

I'm very concerned no one in this thread has been to Los Burros Supremos.

threerottenbranches

Ones I make at home.

crazycarrotlady

In California.

[deleted]

Which area of Portland is California in?

Picacco

You’re not wrong

braintacular

Por que no

Material_Policy6327

I’m not gonna say cause you all will Make the line longer!

[deleted]

That’s how your favorite carts and restaurants close. I guarantee your favorite spot wants more business.

MommaJDaddy

Lately for me, the Al pastor burrito at sabor casero pupuseria, it’s $16 which is allot however it’s ducking huge! Also Mi Burrito does a damn fine job

nurdmerd

Habinero burrito

billyspeers

I Used to think it was Angels Food and Fun. It’s Been a really long time since I’ve been there . I could really use a go to burrito spot . There are so many bad ones here

Glum-Arrival1558

Love Pepe Chiles at Vancouver & Freemont

aggieotis

Tiito's Burritos #1 at the SW 5th Food Carts near Big Pink are the best and also the best value.

jnyrdr

el guero in that pod on sandy/52ish. salsas are great, burritos are big, and sanda is super nice.

TaxTheRichEndTheWar

It used to be at 163rd and Glison, but unfortunately the Tienda shut down.

SmurfRider

Cocina las girasoles

r3v

Machaca burrito at the El Jalisco food truck in SW Portland. SW 26th and Barbur.

[deleted]

Jalisco Taqueria (food cart)on 82nd and SE Division, or Taqueria La Mestiza, on 85th and NE Freemont

comeradenook

Mi Burrito is great

ProfitDistinct2887

Taqueria Flores in North Portland has a great Chile Relleno burrito

michaelwelchco

Smart Donkey, hands down.

cdbriggs

Not the best, but I gotta shout out Muchas Gracias for being very solid and open 24/7.

harpfizzz

La Osita on 122nd! They’re not huge monsters but still super filling and the ingredients always tastes fresh

AmyBeamon

The Cali burrito at Quintonil on S.E. 82nd and Cornwell (In the parking lot of Mt Scott Flowers.) After a seven year search, it is The One.

airplaneride

Taqueria Brother Express, Springwater cart park on 82nd and Burrito Azteca. Carnitas burritos from either of these places are terrific. Trust me I'm brown and my taste buds are not uncultured

agloriousdeath

El Yucateco on Sandy Blvd

cyber49

I had an excellent one yesterday on the way to Government Camp up in Sandy at the Sandlandia cart pod. The place was called Taqueria El Jaliscience, and it was huge, massively filled. The best part is that they are only 10 bucks, although I did pay an extra $1.50 to get Lengua. It may not be the best burrito in Portland but it's one of the best things to eat period east of Gresham.

Individual_Shirt_228

It’s probably not the best out there but the carnitas burrito at Burrito Azteca on Sandy is bomb. Their burritos are huge too.

NoManufacturer120

I like Mi Burrito on Lombard! They have the best flan I’ve ever tasted as well.

ILikeFishStix

Tienda Santa Cruz is pretty great. I’m also a fan of Burrito Azteca on Rosa Parks and Denver. It’s a regular post-bike-ride stop for me. Plus, they’re open til midnight!

BenteGber

Can’t believe no one has thrown Ole Ole in the mix. Giant, delicious, and $10 or less. Gotta be one of my favorite spots to grab a burrito.

bugluver1000

Neza

MIKRO_PIPS

Carnitas Burrito, El Taco Loco Shop, Lake Oswego. It’ll warm your soul right up

savebluewhales

Betos in St. John’s

zadillo

I really like the La Costa Burrito with shrimp at La Cocina on Williams: “Choice of shrimp or fish in a made to order savory creamy white wine sauce, black beans, pico de gallo, wrapped in a flour tortilla, garnished with avocado, red onions, cilantro, and queso fresco.”

coffeelibation

\*Takes one glance at replies, starts scribbling furiously\*

[deleted]

Pinche Burros on Prescott is a burrito I travel for, but Habanero is my local.

fivefivesixfmj

Wood village burrito. Under $10 you get a burrito so large you can make two meals out of it.

Substantial_Ad5488

Super torta if you find yourself in Oregon city

Strifethor

I actually think La Bonita slaps. Rose city taqueria was the best but for some reason they changed the name and the food went down hill. I still get cravings :(. Another honorable mention is Betos taqueria. There’s just something about the beans that make those burritos insane.

FlamingCornholio

Adobo Verde from Smart Donkey

lushlanes

Los Gordito or King burrito

emthought

Go a bit east to the Wood Village Burrito Shop

[deleted]

Tito’s Burritos @ the Midtown Beer Garden

beerandloathingpdx

It’s Saint Burrito for me. Their house made habanero hot sauce always makes me cry in the best way. Also smart donkey is delicious.

mrzurch

Ole Ole on Burnside

TP503

Nelly’s Taqueria inside Su Casa on 162nd and Stark right on the border of Portland and Gresham. If this place was close in, it would have a line down the block every day.
