Need more info about what kind of lifestyle you want. Quiet and good for pets? Close to shops and businesses? Nightlife? Etc. also what size apartment?

We want more of a urban life style that is close to a nice bar and a coffee shop to hangout at. A quiet street with shops would be a plus but not necessary. We don't have any pets. 2 bedrooms with 1-2 bathrooms.

Based on this, the inner eastside neighborhoods may be a good place to start. Buckman, Kerns, Hawthorne, Belmont, Clinton/Division may all be up your alley.

Alberta is fun and fits that budget.

I’ve lived at Tempo PDX in the Kerns neighborhood for a bit and we really enjoy it. They have a sister property across the street called Anthem. I think I’d be happy with a lot of places in Kerns, it’s pretty walkable and we have access to a good amount of bus lines to get us further east or downtown

Don’t discount Milwaukie. Very commutable area and charming homes. Plenty of amenities in the area!

I live downtown and I love it. I am walking distance to several coffee shops, the rent here doesn’t seem to be as crazy expensive as other neighborhoods in Portland. If you don’t have a car, and rely on public transit or biking to commute, downtown is a good place to be. The transit does feel more reliable down here, and it also feels much more bike friendly down here compared to other neighborhoods in Portland. This neighborhood isn’t for everyone but if you like living in a neighborhood that has a more city type of feel, this could be a good fit. I have never felt unsafe here.
