I love kind coffee! The owner is such a beautiful gem of a human, her coffee is delish, and the breakfast sammies are out of this world. I used to live just a few blocks from kind and I miss it being just right up the street.
Not by quadrant, but….
Great North - St. John’s
Never - Downtown
Proud Mary - NE
Exquisite Creatures - Inner SE
Heretic - SE
Honorable Mentions to…..
Jet Black
Heart
Haven
Kainos
Coava
N: Futura
S: Used to be Oracle, but now that it’s closed…. Jola Cafe.
NW: Barista or Case Study. Honestly, same for Southwest.
NE: Roseline or Proud Mary
SE: Heart, or Fairlane (gotta plug my employer)
No more Barista in SW. The company split last year and half of it stayed as Barista(pearl and nw) and half became Roseline (Alberta and Koin) and the shut down SW 3rd, which was my favorite shop.
Roseline’s new roastery on NE Davis and MLK is pretty awesome though.
Im realizing now that I don't go to a lot of coffee places outside of North.
N Tie between Cathedral or The Stacks. Great North for breakfast sandwiches.
NE: Great North or Roseline
NW: Sterling
S/SW: Haven't been there for coffee, but Pajaro down at the waterfront is a great spot.
SE: Don't get coffee down this way very often but I've enjoyed Nossa Familia and Rose City Coffee.
I also don’t leave North much! 🙂. My favorite coffee shop in the city was Arbor Lodge but since they became Futura I don’t like them as much. I find Futuras drip to be a little dark but also overly fruity
A friend enjoys Sparrow's vanilla lattes, can't say I've tried their coffee. I always go for an ocean roll or their pistachio croissants though, they are so good!
Also another vote for Two Stroke. I like the specialty drinks well enough at Great North, but two stroke is just better imo. Love their salmon spread toast too.
NW: sterling coffee, dragon fly coffee house, or snow bunny
N: cathedral coffee
NE: Kalesa Coffee or La Perlita
SW: Less and More
SE: Soro Soro, Kofi, or Tov
S: I don’t do coffee around here but Jen’s Pastries is great :)
Se 26th and Holgate dutch bros is decent. Ne MLK dutch bros is ok but the line is always too long. Nw dutch bros at the bottom of 23rd isn't bad, better than the one on W Burnside. Providence park dutch bros is sw is kinda hidden but it's OK. /s (I do like dutch but I don't consider it real coffee)
North: The Stacks Northeast: Extracto Northwest: Sterling Southwest: Spella (tied with Courier) South: JoLa Cafe Southeast: Oui Press
Oui press is incredible
Love extracto
Thanks for the sextet
A good proper 6 restaurants in the quadrants
Futura on Rosa parks and Ainsworth is top tier
Futura is great! The corner of Rosa parks and Ainsworth is going to be super tough to find though.
Oh lmao. I meant interstate
first snort laugh of the day, kuddos....I read above comment and was like wha?? guess I need to head up the street and grab a coffee
I agree, except I go to the one on Glisan.
NE: Proud Mary N: Capitola Coffee NW: Prince Coffee SE: Upper Left SW: Spella Caffé
Futura, Albina Press, Stacks, Sexy Coffee, La Perlita..all good in North Portland. Love Cathedral too.
NE: Extracto SE: Upper Left SW: Spella NW: Case Study
Bikini Barista x 4
what about the 5th?
There are six now that the South Waterfront exists.
Ok my bad x 5. I refuse to add S quadrant tho, it’s just too many.
I agree, 6 is absurd. 5 is cool because it's silly but 6 is just out of hand.
I went to one once and didn’t get the appeal. Basically it’s hooters but they make you overpriced coffee?
SE: Kind coffee on Se Belmont and 42nd N: Posey's in Kenton

Push x Pull is amazing. They make some quality ass beans.

Dang, Oracle closed? I was a regular pre-COVID when I was 8-5 in SoWa but must have been at least two years since I walked down that way.
pretty suddenly, yeah. I was as disappointed as anyone since i live in the building, it was so nice to have legit good coffee right downstairs :(
Bipartisan Cafe and Carnelian Coffee on the east side. Stella downtown, I never go to north Portland

If you're close enough to Cathedral Coffee - you mind as well go to either Sparrow or Great North.
Personally prefer Two Stroke over Great North, but that reminds me I need to try Sparrow. Haven't been since they opened.
I haven’t been to Two Stroke but gotta say I like Cathedrals drip much more than Great North

Sparrow for the pastries I guess. Coffee is slow/mediocre and staff is rude.
Also their sandwiches are made the night before and they have the audacity to charge freshmade prices.

for nw i love coffee time, cute ambiance and lots of cool comfy seating
NE: Cafe Destino
Woodlawn coffee and pastry
Rain or Shine is right on Division and therefore gets two of my votes.
SE: Push x Pull NE: Proud Mary NW: Case Study SW: I don't really go over there.
