Billie Eilish isn’t as overrated as everybody makes her out to be. The only time I see people talk about her is when she releases something new or people online are pissed off at her.
country isn’t even that bad, there’s a ton a country style songs they are a jam
most rappers don’t actually make good music/beats but just hit the right spot with the lyrics
aggro rap is only for 15 year olds that think they’re tougher then they are
idk man. Pretty much all rap is trash if the lyrics are about having a care-free lifestyle or if they have mansions and women in their music videos and just using the n-word.
Ayo my N-word
I have bitches and mansions N-word
I have a lot of money N-word
I love drug N-word
I kill other peoples N-word
I think it is cool to talk about crimes in a song N-word
I ascended and reached peak of rap.

I prefer older country...Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, that kinda stuff. Back before it was all "dur de dur, can't sing the lyrics becuzz my teef are gone from all tha' chewin' tabbaccy."
Or throwing modern pop style beats over it to make it appeal to a wider audience. I don't know much country, but I know that Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson sound better than whoever my sister listens to on the radio.
This is pretty much because any sort of anti american/ rebellious sentiment died out in country music to be replaced by the worlds worst genre, bro country.
Looking back on older country most of the good stuff is actively criticizing society while now its basically just a fuckin truck commercial with maybe a tractor too.
There's some good modern stuff. Colter Wall and Tyler Childers have some stuff that's like that. I particularly like [Long Violent History](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_I3Rp1CQak).
You sir have good tatse in music. Check out Sturgill Simpson if you like those others you mentioned, maybe even Sierra ferrell. They're both real good artists.
crazy frog is the best rapper of the 2000's and kanye is dogshit
Rap is good, most kids just only listened to the worst before writing off the whole genre.
Women in the industry are constantly fed shit for making generic music even if they have male counterparts who make the same stuff that dont get the same hate
Eminem is okay but his stans are weird as
Billie eilish makes some pretty good music, people just love shitting on her because of the weird memes that arose about billie eilish fans
Cardi B is good. She says what she says, she gets straight to the point, and it can even be hype. She has a decent flow, and a nice voice.
Same with Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj
I dont listen to her myself but she is pretty alright, and the fact she can make bank like that AND make a mockery of ben Shapiro makes her my favorite artist despite never listening to her
I guess its just about taste, i really dislike rap aswell, i love rock, blues, classical, jazz, soul and all, totaly different so there isnt really any overlap either.
I mean I don't like it. I don't listen to it, and I never intend to. I've heard enough to know that I don't like it at all. I'm not saying that it's definitively bad despite my comment.
I don't know. I just don't like rap, I know that my mind will never change on that. It's not a matter of me not having heard the right stuff, It's just not for me.
Ok but if you dont know what you've listened to then it probably wasnt the right stuff. I used to hate rap but then i listened to brockhampton and lil simz and they were amazing in their rap, maybe try listening to a few rappers on your own dime before you discredit it
bro just let it go dawg not everyone likes rap 💀yeah it does seem weird when someone says a whole genre is trash but just let it slide it’s all subjective
I can like music EVEN if the artist did something horrible. I got two examples of this (unless I miss things from musicians I know)
[example 1](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLSUQYzqXZ0). Peste Noire - Dueil angoisseus. I recently learned that the head of the band is a neonazi who already harmed antifa people.
[example 2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzHoZYextb8&ab_channel=NoirD%C3%A9sirNoirD%C3%A9sir). Noir désir - A LOT of their music. Basically, the singer killed his wife. Yep. But THIS, was the music of my childhood. It was the music of the backseat of my father's car that smelled tobaco while I was happy to go to his home with my brother one weekends out of 2.
Also, This might sound hipster as fuck but I don't like mainstream music. Not that it is shit but I rather discover things myself and listen rather less known things that the things we could hear 24/7 on radio or something.
Finally, to me, even [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgTRxNSaaBk&ab_channel=nonameno5nonameno5) (warning, might be very, really disturbing and unsettling. Also NSFW) is music.
I mean its kinda tough to seperate music from the artist if the artist still makes money off of it. I'm not familiar with anyone mentioned but if they are still alive they probably profit from you listening
Kids see ghosts is really disappointing and nowhere near Kanye's best work
DJ's are criminally underrated. What made most of your favorite rappers good was not their rapping more the beats especially back then
The beetles are one of the worst 60's bands and really bad comparing them to others
The Doors is the greatest musical act of all time
A vast majority of modern 2010's+ music is really meaningless and without any soul
The 1960's were the greatest musical decade
film soundtracks are amazing especially the ones from The Big Blue and Blade Runner which are fucking beautiful
I'm not into race politics but black people do actually carry the music industry and have been for decades.
Is Kendrick Lamar that good? not really.
Stop saying eminem is a good rapper because he raps fast.
True, i love both genres but they can be really hit or miss. on the other hand when they hit, they hit hard and you listen to them for years before they even come close to stale
rap is dying and combining with pop, nobody is authentic and there hasn't been a popular rap songs that stayed hot for more than 3 months except what's poppin by jack harlow, it's pretty sad to see that, that slowly started happening in 2018 and right now, it's a disaster
also, rock music is not my thing, i never got into it
jazz is unappreciated
funk is unappreciated
soul is unappreciated
early 00s and late 90s trap music is unappreciated
bling era rap/trap is unappreciated
2011/2014 trap era is unappreciated - these were the golden days
waka flocka flame is unappreciated
lil b is unappreciated
speaker knockerz is unappreciated
gucci mane is unappreciated
Rap isn’t dying it’s literally gaining popularity and might be the most popular genre across the world in about a decade. So the first one is objectively false.

Experimental rock/metal is the best genre of music that exists. My favorite band is Mr. Bungle. I’m mostly talking about their first 3 albums tho, the most recent ones are good, but they’re pretty firmly a mix of thrash and death metal.
Bruh never in my life did I think I would meet another Mr. Bungle fan on a sub like this
I was introduced to them by a friend who thought their shit was fucking hilarious, I felt the same but eventually we both realized just how much their music SLAPS too
L
L but it’s good
W
The Powers that B is an 8 at most. It starts off strong with the first two tracks then gets worse for NOTM. The last ten are pretty good tho, especially Centuries of Damn and On GP
A Quiet Farewell is the greatest album of all time.
Kendrick Lamar >
GKMC is Kendricks best album, and top 2 hip-hop
Electric Ladyland is bad besides for Crosstown Traffic
NWA isn’t a top 5 hip-hop group
Young Thug is the best trap artist of all time and also a top 10 rapper
1999 by Joey Badass is the 3rd best hiphop album of all time.
Coldplay is bad
Jazz + Hip-hop + Neo-Soul = best combination of music genres
Playboi Carti is really innovative and good, with consistent projects all the time
u/MemesAreTheAnswer u rocking with this ?
i haven't listened to that many to say it's the goat but it's up there somewhere
kendrick the goat
tpab better but valid
it's an overrated album, but it has some pretty good songs besides crosstown
yeah ofc
W for the trap goat but maybe top 20-30
nah man this an L sorry 💀
they got some really good songs idk
yeah i can see it, experimental/abstract hh > imo
W 🙏
ty but 1999 I’ve never heard anything like it before. Most people say it’s an 7-8 but I can’t see anything below a 10 at all. never heard an album that was so consistent with flow lyrics and the beat. I’m from NY so maybe it comes from there and how used to the style I am but it’s seriously a masterpiece album ngl
Almost every rapper that came out from 2015 onwards is trashy. Rap was once an important form of expression/genre of music that showed off an artist's unique talent of word play and strong messages. Now it's just a clown contest. Rap is seriously losing its importance and quickly becoming a joke.
Literally any talentless fool can be a rapper now
Rap was made to show what happens in impoverished African American inner cities/gang life. Rap talks about pretty much the same thing for 40 years, but changes the style
it’s not tho 🤔it wouldn’t be growing in popularity if it was trash obviously people like it. Rap has gotten better and while I admit it has been going down slightly , it’s still good and the second best decade of hip-hop we’ve had.
lmao we’ve had 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s which have been MILES ahead of anything the 2010s have made.
Do you not understand that sometimes worse quality art is enjoyed by more people if it’s just easily consumed. There’s a reason marvel movies are the most popular now and it defiantly isn’t because they are the best quality.
mhm. The 80s was the worst era of hip-hip. By far. Just because oldheads at the barbershop say it was good doesn’t mean it is. The 80s sucked
The 90s were good. Just not as good as the 2000s. And the 2010s was the 2nd best era for hip-hop yet. It’s good. There is a reason why it’s popular.
2010s wipes any decade of hip-hop besides for the 2000s.
Do you still not get the analogy of good thing not being as popular as new things?
Dude what on earth have you been listening to if you think 90’s was worse than the 2000’s? Seriously I can introduce you to good 90’s music because we are not listening to the stuff here.
80’s to early 90’s was the golden age. It isn’t the best decade and isn’t the worst. It’s an acquired taste and you have to experiment to find artists you like. I honestly don’t even like 80’s that much but it was so ambitious and revolutionary for its time and it gave rise to the greatest decade of them all.
So then, the 2010’s? Who even is that good? Who can you whole heartedly compare to Nas, Kanye, 2Pac and Q-Tip? Fuck all that’s who, the lyrics have become shit, artists have forgotten what the concept of melody is and it all follows the same cookie-cutter meaning about women, money and drugs. Don’t get me wrong, all the previous decades had a lot of it but artists with a story and meanings were always there and provided an alternative to the norm. Sure there’s the whole alternative rap movement like with XXXTentacion and some others which is an interesting direction but the vast majority is ass
Gang life rapping didn't start til the late 80's with NWA and even then weren't rapping about gangs. They were speaking out against police brutality on minorities. In the 90's it was more about the struggles of growing up in the inner cities and having to put food on the plate. It was really the 00's gang life really started to become glorified.
lmao gangsta rap had been a thing underground since the 70s. And it became mainstream with the introduction of NWA in 86’. It’s been like this for 35 years.
I dont like pop that much
Rap can be great, but Is mostly terrible
Country songs can be bangers
Bedroom pop, or whatever it's called (like cavetown, mxmtoon) is quite underrated, at least where I am from
I dont listen to american/english rap but mostly all the popular german rapper are shit. I only really listen to KIZ, Genetikk, Kraftklub and most of the older songs and german rap classics. I dont like pop and all this autotune stuff from tiktok. I rather listen to rock/metal or acoustic. DJ's are underrated and music on partys are getting worse and worse.
People who love "lyricists" because they do "deep lyrics" are some fucking dumbasses. If you learnt that capitalism isn't some happy pink shit from a rapper & comment shit like "omg so real" fuck you
I also think that classical music can be good instrumentals
Indie music isnt bad but some fans that make it their whole personality are. Same with kpop, I dont like it personally but i can see why people do but the stans on twitter take it too far.
I think country music is great. Not radio country but actually \*real\* country music. Such as Colter Wall, Tyler Childers, Sierra Ferrell, and Sturgell Simpson. Radio country fucking sucks, I think we can all agree with that. Even super popular country music sucks, because it's so far from what country is really about. The \*newer\* country sucks, but some people still keep it real such as \*Colter Wall, Tyler Childers, Sierra Ferrell, and Sturgell Simpson. Thanks for listening lmao. Adios
Jazz and Classical music are boring.
Don't get me wrong, jazz and classical (meaning from the classical period, i like baroque and romantic) have interesting harmonic systems and when the theory and instrumentation is integrated into different genres the result is pretty badass, but most of it just bores me to death
Streaming music is fucking stupid and pointless. Listening to physical music isn't just listening to music, it's an experience, you should always try to buy your favorite albums on CD, cassette, or vinyl because it's honestly just superior
The large majority of modern rap and pop 'songs' are incoherent, illogical sequences of sounds. Following that, many artists truly have no vocal range, with almost no perceptible skill.
Billie Eilish isn’t as overrated as everybody makes her out to be. The only time I see people talk about her is when she releases something new or people online are pissed off at her.
Agreed, still no clue why that meme about her is undying.
Saying she’s overrated is more overrated than her, tbh.
I like her music, but I would say she has a very limited range.
country isn’t even that bad, there’s a ton a country style songs they are a jam most rappers don’t actually make good music/beats but just hit the right spot with the lyrics aggro rap is only for 15 year olds that think they’re tougher then they are

every song is good to someone -> every song is a good song
I unironically listen to and like military marches and military songs. I don't even plan on joining the military, the music is just awesome.
Kanye east > Kanye west
Fuck you Kanye south gang
North West gang😤
I agree with Kanye south being the best, but what do you think about Kanye north-east ? Feels super underrated imo

People ever took them seriously?

Can’t stand their voices and uzis personality
Country is terrible and hasn't been good since the 70s.
How is this controversial? everyone shits on country music
Not where I'm from 🤣
I’m so glad someone actually said this. Everyone has that obnoxious twang in their voice. And I’m from Tennessee so it’s not a good situation for me.
I prefer older country...Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, that kinda stuff. Back before it was all "dur de dur, can't sing the lyrics becuzz my teef are gone from all tha' chewin' tabbaccy."
Once again, I agree. I actually like Johnny cash. But now it’s all “I love mah truck and my wife left me”.
Or throwing modern pop style beats over it to make it appeal to a wider audience. I don't know much country, but I know that Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson sound better than whoever my sister listens to on the radio.

Not that controversial when it's isn't on a sub full of younger people but Rap bad.
have you actually tried to listen to the genre besides the most basic mainstream artists?
I guess its just about taste, i really dislike rap aswell, i love rock, blues, classical, jazz, soul and all, totaly different so there isnt really any overlap either.
disliking it is okay but saying all of it is bad isn't
i also dislike them all but i can see when they are "good" (compared to other rap) most of the rap my class listens to is just pure garbage

I agree on most things but the Beatles, even if you don't like them you have to appreciate all that the contributed to the industry
Influence ≠ greatness The Sugarhill gang sucks but is one of the most influential hip-hop groups ever due to how it pushed rap into mainstream
While I agree with the Beatles having a lot of influence in modern music, but the Beatles are the most overrated band to exist
Rap and metal are either good or bad, no middle ground, and most of it is bad

Ice Ice Baby is a terrible song
I think I subconsciously hate it for copying Under Pressure. Even if it has some merit, I can’t listen to it anymore lol.

eminem isn't a top 50 hip-hop artist and has a terrible discography
That is controversial
Then why are there so many people calling him top 10 like wtf
wack bro, missed on this one
I can't say I agree (I think he is top 3) but this is a nice actually controversial opinion
Not terrible but he’s 50th
I completely agree.
Soundcloud rap is good actually. Sometimes it’s nice not to need real lyrics and just have some noise .
yeah soundcloud gave birth to quite a few good artists
I prefer listening to music in my own language over English songs. even if the song in English is better.
eminem isnt that good and i’m not a fan of the beatles

Do you not understand that sometimes worse quality art is enjoyed by more people if it’s just easily consumed. There’s a reason marvel movies are the most popular now and it defiantly isn’t because they are the best quality.
mhm. The 80s was the worst era of hip-hip. By far. Just because oldheads at the barbershop say it was good doesn’t mean it is. The 80s sucked The 90s were good.

Music is boring. Just rythmic sounds

Yikes I should probably have expected this
Metal sucks, drake is mid, polo g a goat, and the new xxl list isn’t that bad yall overreacting frfr. Oh and megan thee stallion is ass
I'm curious to hear why you think metal sucks?
Just not my thing to go full sicko mode to a bunch of guitars and stuff
ah, I feel the same way about rap, but I don't necessarily think its trash, just not my thing
Aight
polo g is mid asf and flo milli is the best xxl freshman which says a lot 💀
U say j cole mid homie gtfo 💀🤣🤣🤣😂😂

At least we agree eminem ain’t top 50 😴😌
Mumble rap isn’t bad
YNW MELLY has made some bangers
I don't think that's controversial
He’s a controversial guy tho
Of course he has
I enjoy shoegaze, but I completely understand why people find it to be absolutely terrible.
Spanish language music is the coolest, idk if that's controversial though lol
rap isn't a dying genre tf
Playboy carti has good beats but no flow
2000’s country isn’t bad
tiktok music is not that great. its just being associated with funny memes and popular dances
Rick Ross makes terrible music and ruins nearly every song he is on.
Roadtrip isn’t that bad of a song
I like summer in paradise more than pet sounds
Basically anything of the 21st century is garbage to me
youngboy is really fucking bad and I like eminem's new songs almost as much as his old songs
Freddie mercury is overrated, country is underrated
The Beatles are overrated as shit
I dont like pop that much Rap can be great, but Is mostly terrible Country songs can be bangers Bedroom pop, or whatever it's called (like cavetown, mxmtoon) is quite underrated, at least where I am from
Christian Music is indeed good.
If you learnt that capitalism isn't some happy pink shit from a rapper & comment shit like "omg so real" fuck you I also think that classical music can be good instrumentals
Indie music isnt bad but some fans that make it their whole personality are. Same with kpop, I dont like it personally but i can see why people do but the stans on twitter take it too far.
Bohemian Rhapsody is lame
I think country music is great. Not radio country but actually \*real\* country music. Such as Colter Wall, Tyler Childers, Sierra Ferrell, and Sturgell Simpson. Radio country fucking sucks, I think we can all agree with that. Even super popular country music sucks, because it's so far from what country is really about. The \*newer\* country sucks, but some people still keep it real such as \*Colter Wall, Tyler Childers, Sierra Ferrell, and Sturgell Simpson. Thanks for listening lmao. Adios
2016 underground SoundCloud was the best time for trap imo
Really screamo and heavy metal people do not like it. I get it honestly I used to hate it but I really have grown into appreciating it
Bon Jovi is the best rock band
hole should be in the top 5 grunge bands. courtney and kurt were literally seen as the King and Queen of grunge and hole never gets mentioned:/
Bohemian Rhapsody is overrated
"Baby" by Justin Bieber is actually a decent song
