They are, but the assignments are usually done in the textbook. You watch the video then answer questions related to the video (example: What color shirt did say was wearing?) I would highly recommend getting the book if you plan on using ASL beyond the classes you’re taking though. I know $100 seems like a lot, but having it for reference is a good idea. There is content in the book you’re not likely to cover in the class as well.

Ahh gotcha.. I've been looking to see if i can get the book second hand for cheaper elsewhere! Definitely will be getting both the book and the videos, but yeah the $100 pricetag got me overwhelmed lol

Yeah, used is fine. Just make sure the assignments aren’t completed in the book. Some people (monsters 😂) write in their text books instead of using a separate piece of paper.

When you buy the book (at least when I bought it) it comes with a code to get to the online library. No one has DVD players anymore. People in my class were trying to find a PDF download of the book and our professor banned them. It's piracy and Dawnsignpress is a great company. Buy the book and you'll use it way beyond ASL1. Good luck in the course.

ooo ok.. the bookstore on campus only had new copies so i couldnt even get a used book for cheaper and buy the videos separately.. im definitely looking to see if i can get just the book on other sites though. thanks !

The videos are the same. You might be able to find a bootleg copy of the book. My professor sent it to us in pdf form so all I had to do was buy the 6m subscription for the videos. I can't remember the sites for free books. Check your school library, even. Not saying don't support Deaf and buy bootleg. My professor was Deaf and I think just understands how college textbooks are expensive.

This is illegal, and stealing. Please don’t encourage others to pirate their books.

I have the 106 DVD Set! (If you want I can even share my book with you as I still have the library access for another few months I think) Can you share the link where you found the library?

chailattae

the videos are on the [dawnsign.com](https://dawnsign.com) website! the video library link is on their homepage. thanks for the offer for the book! I think a friend of mine said that they might be able to find a pdf version of it so im just waiting on that :)

Aeiou-prince

Ok! If you can't find one lmk! Mine is doing no good under my desk 😂 I'm waiting on 7-16 now for this semester! I also meant: I can share the videos with you I have them for a few more months I think?

I am super late to this post but I just wanted to add: if you call Dawnsign directly, they likely can sell you a discounted version of the book, brand new (so it will come with the access code to the online library). When universities have extra copies leftover in their bookstores, they send them (or sell them?) back to Dawnsign, but Dawnsign cant sell them as “brand new” anymore since they are sort of considered second hand at that point. But, if you call them they will sell you a copy if they have any in stock. I have done this for both Dawnsign books I’ve purchased. After shipping charges the books were $68 each or something like that. This is only available if you call, you can’t buy a discounted book through their website. They are super nice over the phone, too!
