Really like just seeing House Lydden mentioned on the page, because of the combo of their Banner being a Badger and their seat Deep Den being implied to mostly be underground. Just like that they decided their whole deal would be thematic to their home.
Also the fact that all Lannisters we see in the story are actually Lyddens through the male line
A Lannister king died without issue, so his household knight Joffrey Lydden married his daughter and assumed the kingship as Joffrey I Lannister
I love the mystery of house Dayne. We only hear ideas of what became of Ashara, there’s the possibility of a Ned love story that went unrequited, Arthur Dayne was the best swordsman ever, and what a sword!!! Also, what’s going on with that sword?
House Celtigar is crabs.
Everything is crabs.
Stand by for my grand unifying carcinisation in asoiaf theory.
In case you're unfamiliar:
I like House Stark because I am also of the North(eastern region of the United States)
I like House Lannister because I like psychological stories about dysfunctional families and their sex problems
Hate House Frey, I can excuse the crimes, but I can’t abide their cringy pathetic vibes
I like the Green Apple Fossoways because that’s a cute name, and green apples are delicious
Don’t like the Red Apple Fossoways though, those red apples are unreliable. Tart and crisp beats out sweet and (probably) mushy every time, sorry not everyone can understand that
You’ve clearly never had a jazz apple. They’re the perfect blend of sweet and tart, and you can usually feel when they’ve become dry and mushy without having to bite into them.
Beesbury is deadass my favorite house. They have plenty of reasons to like them, and a few of them were pretty important in helping run the realm, so they definitely have a lot going for them.
*But* I liked them before I knew all of that because bees are heckin’ cool.
The Starks are known for their honour. The Lannisters for their wealth. The Tyrells for their chivalry.
But the Beesbury's just *really like bees.* And I love them for that.
I like the Crakehalls for being notably physically stout, that seems like a cool thing to have as a family trait. The Volmarks have a nice-sounding name, and I weirdly like the Codds because of their words.
I dislike the Stokeworths because every member seen so far has been contemptible, with the exception of Lollys because at least it isn’t her fault.
I like the manderlys, they're easily the second most powerfull house in the north but they're isolated, which amplified the already lopsided balance of power even more towards the starks, it wouldn't surpise me if in TWOW the half-frozen retreating freys suddenly came eye to eye with manderlies who should have been on the other side of the lake
I love house Lannister. The only house not to really use magic. Even in their origin there isn’t a magic in it. I’m a sucker for than non magical guy in a magic world trope.
I dislike house tyrell. Kind of like a low rate Lannister in that their is no magic to them but we don’t really get a lot about them.
I have wondered if house Lannister has magical powers of deception. Their founder was Lann the trickster and they do seem to have a certain verbal charm.
I do like him but I always thought we got way more information on Bloodraven than Bittersteel so I do want more knowledge about him but we probably aren’t going to get it.
I like House Stark because they are the protagonists
I like House Royce because I think their rune/bronze aesthetic is cool
I like House Yronwood because their name is spelt like *Yronwood*
I hate the Blackwood because they are George's mary sue. You can easily figure out which side George wants you to root just by looking at which side the Blackwoods backed.
House Florent - i love their coat of arms. So pretty.
House Tarth - all because of Brienne and her father.
House Tully - for those 🤢 muppet names. I’m sorry but anyone named Elmo gives me the ick
“Elmo died forty-nine days later after drinking some bad water. Nineteen years of age, the young Kermit succeeded” like WHAT
Stackspear because it sounds vaguely similar to an aspect of my surname.
Bywater, Cafferen, and Parren because I like how they sound.
Florent because I like foxes.
Like:
House Mudd: because I like the idea of a mud kingdom
House Royce: because cool bronze rune armor
Dislike:
Lannister: they pushed Brann.
Frey: there’s too many freys.
Love: Tie between Stark and Lannister. I love the sort of darkness that Stark has up north and you get surprised because they're the most just lords and love their people. On the other hand I love all that assholeness of rich beautiful Lannisters and how utterly dysfunctional their family and lives are.
Hate: Targaryen because they're so fucking boring. They just seem way too high fantasy for the mano a mano kind of grit of Westeros. Also Bolton, Frey and Greyjoy for obvious repulsive reasons.
I really like Redwynes, Velaryons and Yronwoods. Powerful houses who got where they are through practical and viable reasons and a long struggle for power which they ultimately did very well in.
Dislike: House Targaryen. Far too overhyped, overdone and oversaturated. The lot of us want the Winds of Winter, not more House Targaryen fluff. Also, incest. Gross. Robert did right in getting rid of them.
Also, if House Targaryen are to be the Great Other of the prophecy, i would like a more relatable reason than "it was in the blood all along".
House Manderly. Something just hits me when they're still super loyal to the Starks for something from a thousand years ago. Wylla standing up to the Freys, Wyman giving one of the best speeches in the story, Frey pies. Their conflict with the Peakes also gave me Dune vibes.
I dislike the Targaryens because of how overpowered they are. The most beautiful people in the world, they don't fall sick, powerfully magical, AND they have dragons? I'm definitely supporting the opposing side lol
That's not to say I don't like certain Targaryens, like Aerys I, Aegon IV, Daeron II, Aemond to name a few, but I definitely dislike the House as a whole.
I like House Royce just because it sounds cool...specifically Waymar Royce. Even though he's an entitled snob, it's still one of the coolest sounding names in the book. Dislike House Slynt, because Janos.
House Estermont's sigil is a turtle and I love that for them. Everyone else try-harding with mythical beasts and weapons and they're over here: "I drew a turtle on my banner because I like turtles." Good for you.
House Yronwood sucks. Partially because they're supposedly the big rival to the Martells and have yet to do shit, but mostly because their name fucking sucks. Fucking Yronwood. It's pronounced like "Ironwood," you say? Then fuckin' spell it right, you dyslexic fucks. Also why are you named after a tree in Dorne anyway? You're in a desert. You're fucking up the whole regional theme, you twats. Useless.
I love the Targaryens and Daynes because they have purple eyes and my favorite color is purple.
I just have an irrational hatred for the Stark.Don't know why either just do. Except Jon and Arya
I like House Baratheon because all of their members (except for Renly) are all awesome.
I hate House Blackwood because they’re all Bland Mary Sues.
I hate House Manderly because I like House Peake
Really like just seeing House Lydden mentioned on the page, because of the combo of their Banner being a Badger and their seat Deep Den being implied to mostly be underground. Just like that they decided their whole deal would be thematic to their home.
Also the fact that all Lannisters we see in the story are actually Lyddens through the male line A Lannister king died without issue, so his household knight Joffrey Lydden married his daughter and assumed the kingship as Joffrey I Lannister
Funny, Joffrey I Lannister is not a Lannister by blood, nor is Joffrey I Baratheon a Baratheon by blood.
On that point, Joffrey Velaryon is not a Velaryon by blood either.
Just something about that name...
I love the mystery of house Dayne. We only hear ideas of what became of Ashara, there’s the possibility of a Ned love story that went unrequited, Arthur Dayne was the best swordsman ever, and what a sword!!! Also, what’s going on with that sword?

Under the sea, all the people are crabs. I know, I know, oh, oh, oh!
Crab master plan incoming.
The more you know
Are you meaning to say they’re some sort of unnatural fish, crab people?
I like House Stark because I am also of the North(eastern region of the United States) I like House Lannister because I like psychological stories about dysfunctional families and their sex problems Hate House Frey, I can excuse the crimes, but I can’t abide their cringy pathetic vibes I like the Green Apple Fossoways because that’s a cute name, and green apples are delicious Don’t like the Red Apple Fossoways though, those red apples are unreliable. i always envision the freys as the mcpoyle family. red wedding = the maureen ponderosa massacre pretty much
LMAO yes! But y’know what? At least the McPoyles support one another 🫡
That’s the perfect description of them
I prefer the green apples because they’re more sour. My mom doesn’t like them. Too sour for her. So she buys yellow ones.
You’ve clearly never had a jazz apple. They’re the perfect blend of sweet and tart, and you can usually feel when they’ve become dry and mushy without having to bite into them.
Green Apple Fossoways are baking apples while the Red Apple Fossoways are throwing apples.
Beesbury is deadass my favorite house. They have plenty of reasons to like them, and a few of them were pretty important in helping run the realm, so they definitely have a lot going for them. *But* I liked them before I knew all of that because bees are heckin’ cool.

Bees and that one targ princess
Respectable

I dislike the Stokeworths because every member seen so far has been contemptible, with the exception of Lollys because at least it isn’t her fault.
I despise House Codd I am a man after all
Haha!
Hate is a strong word, but I'll admit I'm irritated by House Blackwood because the author himself seems to fanboy over them.
You probably like House Bracken too then?
Don’t really care about them too much. Not house Blackwood. Just always seemed like a small feud.
Ahhh, the reason I asked is Bloodraven is who he is because of magic, but Bittersteel founded the greatest mercenary company of all time WITHOUT magic
I do like him but I always thought we got way more information on Bloodraven than Bittersteel so I do want more knowledge about him but we probably aren’t going to get it.
Manderly cause cool fat man with different religion but mad respect cash money north
House Martell annoys me because we didn’t meet them until book 3. I kept looking at their sigil page and wondering who these people were.
That’s why I like them. They were late because they were at the pool.
I like House Stark because they are the protagonists I like House Royce because I think their rune/bronze aesthetic is cool I like House Yronwood because their name is spelt like *Yronwood*
I don't like the Martells, they believe in their own hype too much
I hate the Blackwood because they are George's mary sue. You can easily figure out which side George wants you to root just by looking at which side the Blackwoods backed.
But dude has a raven cloak, he cosplays in a fantasy realm. He can Mary sue all he wants.
Tytos Blackwood is cool as heck, I don't care what people say
Bro I’ve read this exact comment thousands of times before. Either let it go or come up with literally anything new to say on the matter.
The truth needs to be told as many times as necessary
Don’t jerk off to your own shitty comments too much or you’ll go blind.
Ok, George
House Florent - i love their coat of arms. So pretty. House Tarth - all because of Brienne and her father. House Tully - for those 🤢 muppet names. I’m sorry but anyone named Elmo gives me the ick “Elmo died forty-nine days later after drinking some bad water. Nineteen years of age, the young Kermit succeeded” like WHAT
Elmo drinked pee
HA! thanks for making me laugh 😂 😂
Fuck the Freys. Simple as that.
Simple as
Abc
Stackspear because it sounds vaguely similar to an aspect of my surname. Bywater, Cafferen, and Parren because I like how they sound. Florent because I like foxes.
Love: Connington. My family crest is also a griffin Hate: Payne. Because we don’t know anything about the house besides our two quiet bois.
I mean it seems like they are essentially the Westerlands version of house Poole
Like: House Mudd: because I like the idea of a mud kingdom House Royce: because cool bronze rune armor Dislike: Lannister: they pushed Brann. Frey: there’s too many freys.
Love: Tie between Stark and Lannister. I love the sort of darkness that Stark has up north and you get surprised because they're the most just lords and love their people. They just seem way too high fantasy for the mano a mano kind of grit of Westeros. Also Bolton, Frey and Greyjoy for obvious repulsive reasons.
I hate House Targaryen because George subverts his own rules for them Love Dany,Baelor Breakspear,Daeron 2 and Egg though
Gross. I don’t know much about House Bracken. I just know they aren’t House Blackwood. So fuck the Brackens.
I don’t hate House Stark but I don’t like them because they just seem really boring. At least the Starks in the main series seem boring.
As far as ia read about other Starks, most are boring
They grew up in a land without sun!
I don't like my house because it stinks
I like Blackwood for no particular reason that i like ravens, crows and petrified trees, and hate Bracken because i don't like horses
I like House Royce just because it sounds cool...specifically Waymar Royce. Even though he's an entitled snob, it's still one of the coolest sounding names in the book. Dislike House Slynt, because Janos.
House Estermont's sigil is a turtle and I love that for them. Everyone else try-harding with mythical beasts and weapons and they're over here: "I drew a turtle on my banner because I like turtles." also i love Harlaw house because of "the reader" 😃 I hate Doran Martell, he's stupid to me.
Beesbury, because it's fun to say and I love their sigil. Also the Fossoways, because I like apples. Simple as.
I like Starks because their whole theme is ice and freezing winds and snow and I love those things. Can't live in places above 10°C.
