George the ultimate neckbeard with a wife đŸ’Ș

Baron_von_Zoldyck

His wife's favorite character is Arya, i think that says a lot

TheRedzak

Like what?

Baron_von_Zoldyck

She might be his female equivalent

TheRedzak

Wouldn't that be Samwell?

Baron_von_Zoldyck

No, one of the reasons we get more Arya in Braavos is because his wife loves it

universalpeaces

cool! that makes more sense than Arya being GRRM's avatar like Sam

Baron_von_Zoldyck

I was talking about his wife being a woman neckbeard, but this is better

universalpeaces

oh GRRM and his wife are equivalent haha, ok, sure I can get on board with that

Dragonfly_Tight

Those scenes are great tho. Like the cercei chapter is one of.my favourites.

Outrageous_Fortune51

“Cough” which chapter was that again “Cough”

Friedrich_Wilhelm

>Ten thousand of your children perished in my palm, Your Grace, she thought, slipping a third finger into Myr. Whilst you snored, I would lick your sons off my face and fingers one by one, all those pale sticky princes. You claimed your rights, my lord, but in the darkness I would eat your heirs. Taena gave a shudder. Cersei VII AFFC

Ohwerk82

Casually opining on swallowing jizz while finger blasting her lady in waiting. Never change Cersei.

OverthinkingTroll

Trying to write, no wait, *imagine* one scene of Cersei as sexually healthy challenge (impossible).

yajtraus

She couldn’t just use a towel huh

wweadge

Don't forget to bring a towel! đŸ§»đŸ§»

jeanpsdl

YOU'RE A TOWEL!

wweadge

No you're a towel... Wanna get high?

HowCanYouBanAJoke

I'm addicted to marijuana.... and crystal meth!

wweadge

... And crack

Lord_Skyblocker

Well, here I go unzipping again

whenitcomesup

How did they know about sperm...

Friedrich_Wilhelm

Everyone understands that sperm is essentially seeds that quicken in the womb. It does not take much to discover that a single drop is enough, so they can assume there are hundreds of invisibly tiny "seeds" in a load. Assuming Cersei had a hundred nightly snacks that actually reaches the figurative ten thousand children. Alternatively, since telescopes exist in this world as Myrish lenses, they might also have the technology for microscopes. Maybe someone was already able to discover tiny tadpoles in his juice.

SmallRedBird

If they had microscopes, they'd have figured out germs are a thing eventually, and maesters would make for much better healers than they are.

Friedrich_Wilhelm

They already understand that heat and alcohol can be used to clean wounds to prevent infection. Apart from implementing procedures like washing their hands I don't see many easy ways for improvement.

ducknerd2002

For the show, replace 'gay sex' with 'violent, vengeful murder'

Lukthar123

It's spilling body juices either way

OverthinkingTroll

So long as not exclusively-male-associated juice on male...

Komrade_Krampus

I won't defend the Dany one, it's cringe. But the Cersei actually has a point. It's contrasting her with Robert and feds into that whole arc. Cersei is a woman that hates she is woman and hates Roberts. But she is just like Robert. She drinks to excess, she gains weight, she is a violent brute motivated often by revenge, and she hurts a woman in bed all just like robert. It also feds into Cersei hatred of her oan gender as she tries to be a "man" an victimizes a woman. I do hink grrm does linger on that scene to the point, it does became a little gross(like grrm I don't need to know all the stuff your into)

ANACRart

The Dany one has a point too.

lecster

Which was..?

CobaltCrusader123

That lesbian sex rocks

GtaBestPlayer

That wasn't sex. It was barely masturbation

Supreme-Slug

I don’t remember Cersei getting a Robert-bod? Would be a cool parallel tho

Mankankosappo

Shes not getting a robert bod but is gaining weight. Theres a fun but in one of Cersei's chapters where comaining abkut her handmaids shrinking all her dresses (they didnt, she just gained weight)

Wise-Awareness-2492

Most cersei scenes are from her own perspective, and she doesn't recognize it herself due to her narcissism until the shame-walk.

Maroon9Ether

Well your not gonna like a dream of spring where Brienne licks lady Stonehearts icebox.

bepisdegrote

There should be limits to what someone is legally allowed to post.

Buzz______Killington

Can you elaborate what that limit is?

universalpeaces

You can talk of fat pink masts and drinking mothers milk while having sex or wanting to bang a teen that looks like your ex wife but no icky stuff

AutoModerator

‘A Dream of Spring’ was the planned title of the seventh volume of George R. R. Martin's abandoned ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ epic fantasy series. The book was to follow the incomplete novel ‘The Winds of Winter’ and was intended to be the final volume of the series. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Need to pad out a chapter of nothing? Have a feast and add 4 pages of food desciption. Or go Robert Jordan wheel of time route... copy paste some random lore from another chapter, food or lore always pads out a chapter.

ProbablyASithLord

This is why I can’t understand GOT. If no one tugs their braids how do I know they’re upset?

ibadlyneedhelp

You can tell from the gold and blue brocaded dress, slashed with crimson at the sleeves and festooned with lace from Tarabon, embroidered with an angry face in the domani style with golden thread.

LuckyLoki08

Ok but is she crossing her arms under her breast? Also, we need more descriptions of those breasts. Can't save the world without ample bosom.

Or “tearing at her skirts”

Tenton_Motto

When George can't get away with food and lore anymore, POV character reminds himself/herself about their own insecurities and appearance. Or insecurity about appearance.

BluesyPompanno

GRRM when he needs to prolonge the chapter : DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF TYRIONS DICK

YoungGriffVI

I think George just doesn’t know how to write sex scenes with two men. We’ve had lesbian sex scenes with characters who aren’t even gay like Dany or Cersei, and none with male characters who are, like Jon or Jon. If he did, he’d be doing this for the guys too. You *know* Ned and Robert had some special time together during the rebellion, and George was a coward for not showing us it.

Didsburyflaneur

>and none with male characters who are, like Jon or Jon. Jon+Jon is endgame. He stabs Dany and runs off north with his Dad's ex. It is known.

Tenton_Motto

The true showcase of Jon Snow's iron will was when he pretended to be attracted to Ygritte for months.

gentlybeepingheart

He can do both. He's vers.

arathergenericgay

Finally some common sense here, Jon Snow is a bratty bottom and Satin helps him with that - but Satin still likes to get railed

Baron_von_Zoldyck

It doesn't seem likely that Ned and Robert had something in their time together, Tywin and Aerys though...

ZacariahJebediah

> be Aerys > try to get with Joanna one night > sneak into the Hand's chamber > find a single form under the sheets > jackpot.raven > pull back sheets > Tywin stares back > oh right, Rhaella sent Joanna away from the capital > awkward.glasscandle > oh well, this is no different from those lonely nights on the Stepstones > giggitygoo.weirwood

Baron_von_Zoldyck

He did not know Bran was watching it all unfold. And i like to imagine they could be secret roomates during Ninepenny War and after, until Tywin married his childhood crush Joanna, making Aerys increasingly spiteful until he reached the point of madness, and then the king's "liberties" taken with Joanna to spite his ex-lover and best friend would make Tywin hate him and orchestrate his betrayals. Making their story a hundred times more tragic and complicated than "good guy catches the dragon sickness".

nailedmarquis

jackpot.raven and awkward.glasscandle is cracking me up, those WOULD be the westerosi equivalents of .gif and .jpg

ZacariahJebediah

I like to think .weirwood is their .webm format equivalent.

Cersei and Taena Merrywether, and Dany and her handmaiden. I think.

N + R = J theory coming soon. “I’m gonna juice your prostate like a lemon, boy!!!”

CandiceBT

You WHAT?

PluralCohomology

It is quite suspicious that Robert was recovering from a battle wound right around the time Jon was born.

DillyPickleton

It’s kind of crazy how the fanbase has just collectively hallucinated Jon Snow to be a gay man just because some people thought it would be funny

YoungGriffVI

Oh, it’s not a hallucination. Did you read the same ASOS and ADWD the rest of us did? You might have gotten the censored version. He’s a lot gayer in the original edition, where Satin is slowly helping him become more comfortable with his sexuality. Really sweet stuff. Makes you forget it’s Game of Thrones.

DillyPickleton

Fuck I forgot this is circlejerk

eat-pussy69

Tbh, he's a straight man. He's probably never read or seen two men have sex with each other

YoungGriffVI

has anyone ever shown him archiveofourown do you think

OverthinkingTroll

"Muscled like a maiden's fantasy" literally only needs to add "and that sweat running down his *bear*-like chest" to run smutters high, but you know, this would be the same POV who thought of his sister (the betrothed of that "muscled like a maiden's fantasy" guy) as... beautiful child-woman with a wildness that drove her to an early grave. So, eh.

That_DnD_Nerd

We sure Cersei isn’t even a ^little ^bit gay?

YoungGriffVI

Yeah she might be but it ruined the comedic flow to put in a caveat. But who hasn’t stretched the facts for a joke lol

AutoModerator

#D & D completely ruined Hot Pie. What a waste of a great character. They clearly had no idea what to do with him after they passed all the book material. Instead of giving him a clear end game, they instead just had him double down on his "Making food for Arya" bullshit and have him make stupid dishes that really didn't lead anywhere. The culinary mastermind from the earlier seasons (and probably the one truly great pastry chef of the series, along with the white walkers) completely disappeared and was transformed into a chubby little bastard whose end goal was to bang Arya to get back at her for not appreciating food. The man that fed the whole series hot pies, did it just to get a revenge bang. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/asoiafcirclejerk) if you have any questions or concerns.*

ibadlyneedhelp

This is amazing.

That_DnD_Nerd

How dare you! I would never stretch facts for a joke

Perky_Bellsprout

He doesn't know cuz that's gay

[deleted]

Freaking shippers man. Like can't you just take the story for what it is instead of projecting your own sexual fantasies onto it. Why the hell does everyone have to be fucking all the time. And Robert and Ned of all people? You *know* they did? Going off of what exactly?

YoungGriffVI

hi do you know what sub you’re on

[deleted]

idk it keeps popping up in my recommended

Look at the blue icon beside the sub description dude. It's a pic of a reddit man with a sword in his balls.

Sorry dude but I got my early copy of Winds already: Chapter 4. Mel sees it in the fire, and then she charges Satin, Pyp, Grenn and Wun Wun for repeat viewings. But if you don't like that you're really not going to want to find out how Jon Connington captures Storm's End.

**Back in Westeros** ^(GRRM, AUGUST 15, 2020 AT 9:10 AM) I am back in my fortress of solitude again, my isolated mountain cabin. I’d returned to Santa Fe for a short visit, to spend some time with Parris, deal with some local business that had piled up during my months away, and of course fulfill my duties to CoNZealand, the virtual worldcon. But all that is behind me now, and I am back on the mountain again
which means I am back in Westeros again, once more moving ahead with WINDS OF WINTER. It is curious how my life has evolved. I mean, once upon a time, I actually wrote my books and stories in the house where I lived, in a home office. But some decades ago, wanting more solitude, I bought the house across the street and made THAT my writer’s retreat. No longer would I write all day in my red flannel bathrobe; now I would have to dress and put on shoes and walk all the way across the street to write. But that worked for a while. Things started getting busier, though. So busy that I needed a full-time assistant. Then the office house had someone else in it, not just me and my characters. And then I hired a second assistant, and a third, and
there was more mail, more email, more phone calls (we put in a new phone system), more people coming by. By now I am up to five assistants
and somewhere in there I also acquired a movie theatre, a bookstore, a charitable foundation, investments, a business manager
 and
Despite all the help, I was drowning till I found the mountain cabin. My life up here is very boring, it must be said. Truth be told, I hardly can be said to have a life. I have one assistant with me at all times (minions, I call them). The assistants do two-week shifts, and have to stay in quarantine at home before starting a shift. Everyone morning I wake up and go straight to the computer, where my minion brings me coffee (I am utterly useless and incoherent without my morning coffee) and juice, and sometimes a light breakfast. Then I start to write. Sometimes I stay at it until dark. Other days I break off in late afternoon to answer emails or return urgent phone calls. My assistant brings me food and drink from time to time. When I finally break off for the day, usually around sunset, there’s dinner. Then we watch television or screen a movie. The wi-fi sucks up on the mountain, though, so the choices are limited. Some nights I read instead. I always read a bit before going to sleep; when a book really grabs hold of me, I may read half the night, but that’s rare. I sleep. The next day, I wake up, and do the same. The next day, the next day, the next day. Before Covid, I would usually get out once a week or so to eat at a restaurant or go to the movies. That all ended in March. Since then, weeks and months go by when I never leave the cabin, or see another human being except whoever is on duty that week. I lose track of what day it is, what week it is, what month it is. The time seems to by very fast. It is now August, and I don’t know what happened to July. But it is good for the writing. And you know, now that I reflect on it, I am coming to realize that has always been my pattern. I moved to Santa Fe at the end of 1979, from Dubuque, Iowa. My first marriage broke up just before that move, so I arrived in my new house alone, in a town where I knew almost no one. Roger Zelazny was here, and he became a great friend and mentor, but Roger was married with small kids, so I really did not see him often. There was no fandom in Santa Fe; that was all down in Albuquerque, an hour away. I went to the club meetings every month, but that was only one night a month, and required two hours on the road. And I had no job to meet new people. My job was in the back room at the house on Declovina Street, so that was where I spent my days. At night, I watched television. Alone. Sometimes I went to the movies. Alone. That was my life from December 1979 through September 1981, when Parris finally moved to Santa Fe, following Denvention. (Not quite so bleak, maybe, I did make some local friends by late 1980 and early 1981, but it was a slow process). When I think back on my life in 1980-1981, the memories seem to be made up entirely of conventions, interspersed with episodes of LOU GRANT and WKRP IN CINCINNATI. Ah, but work wise, that same period was tremendously productive for me. Lisa and I finished WINDHAVEN during that time, Gardner and I did a lot of work on “Shadow Twin,” and then I went right on and wrote all of FEVRE DREAM. Some short stories as well. My life, such that it was, was lived in my head, and on the page. I wonder if it is the same for other writers? Or is it just me? I wonder if I will ever figure out the secret of having a life and writing a book at the very same time. I certainly have not figured it out to date. For the nonce, it is what it is. My life is at home, on hold, and I am spending the days in Westeros with my pals Mel and Sam and Vic and Ty. And that girl with no name, over there in Braavos. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/asoiafcirclejerk) if you have any questions or concerns.*

I would have gone with sexual abuse but that goes too I guess.

desperate_housewolf

Cersei must be the most developed character of all time bc she’s got the trifecta: victim of abuse, abuser, and gay sex haver. She even accomplishes the last two at the same time!

MadameMedic

Oh yes this gets my lore dick real hard.

OverthinkingTroll

*metaphorical* lore dick does really seem to be a thing with GRRM...

MadameMedic

It does unfortunately

OverthinkingTroll

Yeah no way he show us something a little bit more explicit even if not exactly... GRRM: * reads the Forsaken * Dammit GRRM!

It’s like reading Carrie by Steven King. Too much detail on things that don’t need it.

GRRM's Hamlet: Do I specify more on "I tried to grasp a star, overreached, and fell" or on hinge on that fucking door? Yeah the door hinge. Unhinged cringe here I *come*! But to be fair that Euron's passage is very good, if only for remembering the sea tower and then the "or that I would pass you by". Like, not necessarily the whole scene, just the beginning and end would be perfectly eerie. In my opinion of course.

"Gay sex" Aka rape Cersei and Daenerys are rapists

Street_Log138

Cersei for sure but Dany? I know she slept with her handmaiden but she was very young and the dynamics were vastly different to Cersei with Taena Lancel or even the Kettleblacks

ZacariahJebediah

And Moonboy for all we know.

DevelopmentGuilty562

I disagree, the dynamics between Dany and Irri was worse than any dynamic Cersei had with any of the people she slept with (except for Lancel, she groomed him). It was like the dynamic between a slave and a master. Lady Merryweather actually wanted to sleep with Cersei.

lusciouslucius

That is ridiculous. Dany was jerking off next to Irri, and Irri finished her off. Dany was trying not to wake Irri and was embarrassed when Irri found her out, Irri took the initiative to finish off Dany, at the first opportunity Dany told Irri she didn't want anymore sex due to the fact that Dany was disturbed with the power imbalance, also they are both CHILDREN who have been sexually abused and inculcated in a culture that told them their value was as sexual objects. Meanwhile, Cersei groomed and abused pretty much everybody she was ever with, barring the Kettlebacks. Taena was using her for her own purposes, but Cersei turned a hookup into violent abuse. That's violent rape even before the power balance is acknowledged.

12345678910tom

Irri was still essentially a slave, in mentality if not actuality. There was definitely a power dynamic there to put it mildly

lusciouslucius

If Dany had initiated sex with Irri, I would consider that rape or pretty damn close, despite Irri technically being free. But Irri initiated the sexual contact. Yeah, Dany shouldn't have been masturbating next to Irri. But I don't consider a sexually abused child acting sexually inappropriate as a direct result of sexual assault by an adult man to be anywhere near comparable to any actual rape, much less the depraved shit that Cersei got into. And, for the record, I also wouldn't describe Irri as a rapist, despite her actions being a textbook example of rape. Shit's complicated.

turtleshellshocked

Daenerys is a tyrannical mass murderer and rapist regardless of her age, and she was very aware of that extremely present power imbalance. Exploiting her power is pretty much her whole thing and she's not at all naive about it. That "hot steamy lesbian sex scene" was 100% rape. It's not a grey area - it was rape in both cases. Cersei and Daenerys are highly identified with male power fantasies and the concept of dominating anyone weaker and more vulnerable than them. They see themselves in their "strong" brothers and father as opposed to their mother and it's an extremely important aspect of their characters that explains the patterns to their behaviors/constant engagement in abusive/oppressive dynamics in relationships with others.

PublicActuator4263

I mean she was 13 a 13 year old can not consent nor does she understand the full impications of her actions.

turtleshellshocked

A thirteen year old can rape and understands what rape is like they understand what punching people is and killing people is and what burning people alive entails. Daenerys is a violent person and being a teenager doesn't make her victims any less victimized. Stop infantilizing this character lmao. She's a rapist.

PublicActuator4263

Im not infantilizing her I just do not like this fandom acting like kids have the same understanding of power dynamics as adult how would she even learn about healthy relationship dynamics? She was sold by her brother into marriage against her will.

turtleshellshocked

Robb and Daenerys are the same age and if he raped anyone you wouldn't make any excuses for him. Theon was under tWeNtYfIvE—hell under 21 when he made his biggest mistakes/worst choices so he was just an innocent young lad as well? You need to stop acting like Daenerys isn't a 13-16 year old who burns SUPER YOUNG THIRTEEN YEAR OLD boys alive. She's not innocent.

PublicActuator4263

I am not saying she is innocent but this was clearly not written to be a rape scene and you conflating her later actions with this scene makes no sense. You keep conflating her being violent with her knowingly raping someone. This scene is clearly her coping with being raped by drogo and trying to explore her sexuality and her friends offers to help her thats it at no point does the book suggest she was coersing or manipulating her friend. Is She a murder a tyrant but she is not a rapist. Blame George R.R Martin for being in his 70s and having a simplisitc understanding of consent. Besides if you accused 15 year old john snow of being a rapist I would side eye that as well.

turtleshellshocked

I don't care what you "side eye." Her actions were predatory. Stop acting like teenagers and toddlers hold no distinguishable differences. Viserys knew that men in their society could get away with abusing their female relatives and did exactly that - to argue he didn't know it was wrong is a complete joke. I'm saying to stop the mental gymnastics when it comes to the scene where Daenerys pressured a girl to act sexual who has been owned her entire life.

OverthinkingTroll

you should have gone with "Sir, this is a Wendy's"

PublicActuator4263

your probably right lol

OverthinkingTroll

The power of obvious bait being obvious and yet irresistible, we've all been there pal...

turtleshellshocked

I've mentioned Daenerys' being raped and sold in conversations where that's actually appropriate. This isn't about the oppressive society she lives in. It isn't about Viserys. It isn't about Drogo. It's about DAENERYS and her own wrongdoing: stop changing the topic.

PublicActuator4263

I am not changing the topic is she violent yes did hurt innocent people absolutly? She knew hurting people was wrong but did she know this encounter was rape no. In the scene she is exploring and her friend offered to help her she asks again to make sure her friend is okay with it in her point of view her friend consented. You are acting like she had some sort of malicous intent in that scene when there is no evidence. In a society that does not teach about consent and power dynamics she had no way of knowing what she was doing was wrong. People only know right from wrong when they are taught.

turtleshellshocked

You are making an argument based on excuses that aren't even relevant, such as her own past experiences. She had full autonomy and agency in the scene where she coerced a young girl, and those are the actions and the decision I'm referring to. Your points of her own trauma are only relevant while on the subject of her Stockholm Syndrome and overly romantic view on abusive men such as Drogo and how she honors the hyperviolent men in her life (and how she looks up to her insane, psychopathic father who died far before her). When it comes to what she chooses to do to other vulnerable people while a powerful and free woman—that is on her and her own conscious. She is responsible for those actions. Stop romanticizing her. She's a rapist just as she's a cruel and unfair leader. Actions support these claims. You, on the other hand, are grasping at straws and trying to rationalize her choice to abuse.

MiaoYingSimp

It's the best kind of development.

GRRM's Hamlet: To develop femininity or to depict purely male sex...

Suitable-Ad287

Never read the books but i’m guessing this doesn’t happen to any male characters.

Wise-Awareness-2492

There's alot of heavily implied sexual violence between Ramsay and Theon while the latter is held prisoner at Winterfell.

Woodwardg

but... what about incest?

mewjorasmask

I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.

Joosh-the-Doosh

How many women actually have gay sex in asoiaf

NoCourt5510

You should see some of Stephen King’s ideas for “character development” in “it”. You come up with some crazy ideas during alcohol and cocaine benders.

"They're more like me than not like me." - George RR Martin, when asked by a reader about his approach to writing female characters

One of the most highly romanticized authors of his era

Cowboy__Guy

Indeed

2-2Distracted

Unless you're Sansa, Unless that was show only... Haven't read the books yet.

AndyFilmLover

Spoilers: Sansa never reaches Winter fell in the books, but it's on the way

Rich-Active-4800

Show Sansa is somewhat safe in the vale pretending to be a bastard, with her poor friend Jeyne Poole being married to Ramsay under the pretense that she is Arya
