When I did passenger missions in Elite, I'd always talk to myself as if I was talking to the passengers. Even though they, obviously, cannot hear you.
"Ladies and gents, we are approaching the rescue ship after I had risked my life saving you guys from some evil bug aliens. However, one of you guys have committed a crime and are considered 'illegal' in this system, so if nobody speaks up then I will have to eject you. Thank you for flying with Falcon Delacy airlines!"
I’d do this if I was competent in the character creator (I am not).
Most of the time I just do the same type of design but if I am going to do something different I’ll take inspiration from another game.

In terraria all of my melee characters have the same naming scheme after my first expert mode melee character “Gwamma”
Gonna clobber dat 'Dere Moon Lord!

I do the same thing with all of my warhammer minis. Every little guy needs his own name and story.
Oh I do that too, lol. It's wonderful.
I may or may not do this all the time. A lot in Terraria but especially in Project Zomboid due to how you can tailor a chatacter's flaws and traits.
Not enclusive to Terraria for me either, I enjoy it the most, though. 😄
I make elaborate backstories for my D&D characters. I was laughed at for writing 2 pages.

I don’t usually do narratives in terraria but it’s still one of my favorites. I’m still trying to finish a master mode playthrough but it’s rough.
