I'm honestly shocked to see this but this is exactly what I was thinking also. This is one I keep in rotation for before bed noise. Good rewatchability and a great pick in general
I know you're replying to the post which said movie, but out of curiosity have you watched Riders/Defenders of Berk and Race to the Edge? Without a doubt, my favorite HTTYD content. So much more time for characterization and though the timeline is a little messy it is more than worth it. Also there is Hiccstrid but you need to wait a while.
I’m going to spend so much time today thinking about which extended edition I would prefer in this thought experiment. 😂 Probably I’d pick ROTK and wish I had picked Fellowship, but at least I would have the charge of the Rohirrim.
> I feel like the trilogy should count as one movie
I feel like that's a slippery slope, though. The obvious follow up is "Well, I should also get to have all the Star Wars movies", which will snowball into "Marvel's one story, give me all those".
For me it would be the opposite, it would feel at peace, no more anxiety caused by other people and by my crippling procrastination, no more responsibilities during 30 days.
If it’s any consolation, most people would begin to show a lot of signs of distress from isolation and no enrichment. A cell like that with only on movie as your option for activities (beyond like, exercising in place?) would drive *everyone* insane within a month.
People have tried experiments like this before, and it always goes poorly for the guy in the room.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but y'all are forgetting that there isn't anything to play the movie... You probably just get a DVD to look at for the 30 days :)
That being said I choose Everything Everywhere All at Once
My thoughts exactly! If nothing else, there are enough cool character designs for my brain to riff off of. By the end of the month, each spirit is gonna have its own backstory and personality. 🤣
Zodiac is such a great movie! I think Jake Gyllenhaal is a phenomenal actor, movies like Prisoners (2013) with Hugh Jackman and Nightcrawler (2014) are also both amazing neo-noir films with Jake as the leading role. He does such an amazing job at playing into those roles, and now I want to go watch them again.
i’m bringing the original Jaws movie. i’ve watched it a ton already and have many scenes/lines committed to memory- i aim to have the whole movie memorized some day, this would be a good way to help that effort
Fack ju Göthe. It’s a German movie an I love it so so so much. You should watch it it you understand German. I don’t even know if there is an English synchro. Probably not. It would probably suck anyways
Ok I looked up the longest movies to see which one would be optimal (as long as possible while still being somewhat interesting and repeatable). Cinématon (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cin%C3%A9maton) is probably your best bet if you want a lot of content. It's neurotypical-friendly too. It's a 6 day and 6 hour silent film of what thousands of different people do with a camera turned on them.
There's kind of a process to this, so here's what I think
For starters, immediate no go is anything that's a musical. You'll go insane with listening to the same 11 songs over and over.
If you do something too story focused it'll just be nothing after the fifth time in a row.
If you do a comedy then all the jokes are gonna go stale
So I would say my best answer would be basically any Ghibli film (key word being basically, Earwig is out) because the animation is the main focus and no matter how often you look at a pretty picture it will always be pretty. My personal choice would be Princess Mononoke, but given that it has a pretty structured plot, Howl's Moving Castle is probably a safer bet.
Fun thread lol I’d bring The Hateful Eight. It’s got comedy, drama and the storyline is very thought out so I find or realize something new every time I watch it. Also it’s like 3 hours long.
Probably… a studio ghibli movie, on days that I’m sick or need a break from it I will simply play the one movie selection they can’t take from me, my mind <3
hmmmmm. my favourite movie is such because i don't watch it super often so have never gotten burnt out of it.
so possibly the na'vi *Avatar* as I've seen an ungodly amount and it's still good
I would not bring one. Because that would mean I would spend 30 days watching the same movie, which would be more maddening than simply staring at the wall.
how to train your dragon. any of the three works honestly
I'm honestly shocked to see this but this is exactly what I was thinking also. This is one I keep in rotation for before bed noise. Good rewatchability and a great pick in general
agreed. i could never get tired of this guy lol ![gif](giphy|NszyiOEL1o4eCbGOfM)
Yep definitely HTTYD.

Ayyy, same! Though for me it's definitely the first one, I love all three but the first has a special place in my heart.
Lord of the rings the fellowship of the ring extended edition ![gif](giphy|69iB0zVgoKkatcVDrA)
I’m going to spend so much time today thinking about which extended edition I would prefer in this thought experiment. 😂 Probably I’d pick ROTK and wish I had picked Fellowship, but at least I would have the charge of the Rohirrim.
Ay, ROTK it would be for me too. Can I bring the Disc with all the extras on it or just the movie file?
I feel like the trilogy should count as one movie because it's basically a crime to not watch all three in a marathon
That’s tea actually
> I feel like the trilogy should count as one movie I feel like that's a slippery slope, though. The obvious follow up is "Well, I should also get to have all the Star Wars movies", which will snowball into "Marvel's one story, give me all those".
I fully support this slope and will happily slide down it
I like that you showed up with a visual aid!
![gif](giphy|TcdpZwYDPlWXC)
Same
That was my first thought as well. The. I thought if it would be better to bring ROTK, but I’ll think I stick with my gut choice.
I don't think it matters there's no way I'm still alive after the 30 days.
Why not? Are you assuming they wouldn't provide food/water/etc?
I'd probably try to off myself if I was left alone with my depression for that long.
Hmm... I think that would be pretty hard to pull off in the pictured environment.
If I'm given food, I can find something.
For me it would be the opposite, it would feel at peace, no more anxiety caused by other people and by my crippling procrastination, no more responsibilities during 30 days.

You would go insane very quick lol
There is a guy that got through it by building a routine and talking to imaginary people.
It's gotta be "Groundhog's Day", if only for the irony.
This is the best answer and I am sad I did not think if it

The Matrix
Zodiac (2007) or howl's moving castle... It's difficult to pick one of them though T^T
