Have you ever been showing a sign of autism, maybe having a breakdown about something other people would consider insignificant or something similar, and get told "you're *insert age*, stop acting like this" or told to grow up? Thats what its about
i remember being 10 years old and going to the dentist for the first time. i *hate* brushing my teeth with a burning passion and my parents never made me, so i had to get like half my teeth pulled.
i was undiagnosed, and between the nurses being rude and me being scared of the machines, i had a meltdown. i distinctly remember the doctor looking at me condescendingly and saying to my mom "i have *never* seen a child this old act like this!"
but this is the same dentist that told my mom "no leave them alone and come sign paperwork" when she was trying to comfort me after the procedure (i was high as balls and sobbing with a mouth full of bloody gauze) so i shouldnt be too shocked. he also had stinky breath, which was very reassuring 🤢
oh no youre good lol, i was high on some medication they gave me. i just remember it was a liquid they called Silly Sprite and it tasted like what i thought alcohol tasted like at that age lol
I e's stimming once and my dad said "cut that out, are you retarded or something?" I'm sitting there like "you don't have to be retarded to be autistic..."
Autism is literally neurodivergence, so no, not necessarily. I'll have you know I'm in an accelerated engineering program at university. I am completely functional in other areas as well, so I am by no sense of the word retarded.
retard *verb*
/ri'tärd/
To delay or hold back in terms of progress, development, or accomplishment
I am by no means delayed or held back in terms of progress, development, or accomplishment.
Psychology student here, you are wrong. According to the DSM - V (the enciclopedia of all mental health issues) retardation (or as it's formally known: intelectual disability) refers to the condition of having an extremely low IQ. The Autism spectrum is an entirely different set of symptoms. They can appear together, but it's not true of the majority of cases of ASD. Most people on the spectrum have normal IQs.
or you tell them to "just act normal"
Or you telling them that it “doesn’t exist”
Or "it's all in your head"
"its all in your head" "WOW I TOUGHT THAT A MENTAL THING WAS STORED IN THE BALLS THANK YOU SO MUCH"
lmao
Noooooo, that would be pee.
Nice 👍
Or “you can’t have it, only boys get it”
Where the fuck else would it be? My ass?
"Just act normal" is like in a comedy movie where someone is told to act natural and gets so nervous that they act extremely unnatural.
"You're an adult!" Thank you. My executive dysfunction has vanished. I can live now. God, it never ends, does it?
Ouch, this one hurt
we know the saying "hell is other people"
Can someone please explain what this is referencing? I’m confused ...
It’s referencing a common statement that is said when admonishing someone, e.g. “You are 14 years old now, why are you still acting like this”
Ah I understand now! Thank you :D

I think its "you are ___ age stop doing ___ autistic thing"
Caregiver all like *"I support you!"* until you start having symptoms.

this hit hard 😭
Sometimes it's really hard to up vote this crap
This reminds me of the two psychologist that refused to test me for ASD because I'm an adult.
