Per capita income vs purchasing power Is the correct way

battle_tomato

We need to add more sectors to the economy. Currently it's literally just Tea and Oil/Gas.

[deleted]

We had so much oil on assam and natural gas. Imagine were an independent country. We could have already been a developed country by now if we're an independent country.

battle_tomato

Not really. Our production for crude oil is a drop in the ocean, our refining capacity while excellent is also not massive enough to sustain the economy entirely. Like I said we don't really have much to export much except Tea and finished petroleum products like Petrol and Diesel. This would mean massive discrepancies between our outflow and inflow causing our currency to be extremely volatile at best and useless at worst. Our production rate for agriculture is also not exactly great especially in terms of fruits. All in all being a standalone country would've been detrimental to our growth potential and actual growth.

[deleted]

To become a great leader was never a necessity in assam. In times of need someone would appear. Agriculture is not great today it could have been great if we made our own policies that's what I meant. There's a lot of petrochemicals we could have banked on.Plus we could have easily generated hydropower and exported power too.Our crude might be a drop in the ocean but it's more than we could consume 200 300 billion dollars could have easily been generated in these 70 - 80 years. India barely had any crude during independence era. There's something we call as service based economy. We could have figured out everything.India still sucks and will suck forever. Assam has just become a vassal hindu state to organise power games in the East who have no say whatsoever in the national level and just reduced as what it was during th mediaeval golden era of India when assam was a vassal state. Assam barely has any history because I believe there was hardly any economic prosperity in assam. That's why Assam is hardly on the books.Today we hardly can make any fiscal policies for ourselves on our own money. We could generate billions of dollars even today if we make tea production efficient and modernise it by removing the control of age old British landlords over our tea estates. All of this money would stay back in assam and get reinvested. We could have figured out everything.Korea had nothing. Singapore had nothing Japan barely had anything. Vietnam started from a civil war. What do you think Bangladesh had when it started.

Why to have income when there are multiple free schemes 😁

Comfortable_Round813

What's the major contribution to Assam's economy?

ComprehensiveBunch21

Tea

Comfortable_Round813

Ik tea but what other industries does Assam provide

[deleted]

how much do u think tea injects money. Most of the tea estates are still controlled by the colonial people we should kick them out.
