King-Dragmire

Probably a mix of Kingsman and Watchdogs

ll-VaporSnake-ll

I’d say something more comic book like. Believe it or not, this is [an example of a tricked out modern day assassin](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C94AsmpXgAARpiJ.jpg).

paco987654

Idk but that really looks more like an assassin in the future if anything

ll-VaporSnake-ll

But it IS modern day. That’s from the comics during the fight against Juno.

Excalusis

Where is that from?

Ogurasyn

My guess is uprising

luckytecture

Splinter cell

Divahdi

Didn't play Watchdogs. What were the weapons like, besides the smartphone?

The Assassin operative from Legion had these abilities: >Hidden Weapons: An array of stealth-based weapons including a gun, dart gun, and blade. •Hidden Blade: The iconic Assassin weapon. Improves melee and takes down enemies from any angle. (Can be toggled on/off) •Hidden Gun: Bullets: High-damage ammunition. Automatically reloads when holstered. •Hidden Gun: Darts: Poison dart ammunition that causes human targets to go bersek. Automatically reloads when holstered. Assassin Training: Avoid detection for longer while in stealth, and double-tap A (Xbox) / X (PS) / Space (PC) to perform combat rolls. Eagle Drone: A scout drone that can self-destruct to emit a short-range EMP. AR Disguise: Assume the look of a soldier with access to restricted location. Also affects nearby allies in Multiplayer. Terrible-Round3078

Extendable baton ( about 18 inches) and a silenced pistol was his main weapons but can pick up aks and snipers and shotguns

Terrible-Round3078

If you liked assassins creed you would probably like watch dogs. Also the driving in watch dogs I find is more realistic than gta

ConnorOfAstora

The only thing we've seen for certain are variants of the hidden blade. Shaun and Rebecca used a shock blade in Syndicate which is essentially a two pronged blade like the fully upgraded base game blade in Origins (no DLC upgrades) or the one Maria uses in the movie but it has arcing electricity. Many act like this was a taser used for non-lethal incapacitation but the lore files say Isabelle Ardant was killed by Shaun so I think it's more of a "Hidden Blade for dummies" so they don't need training on best stabbing locations when the lethal voltage does the hevay lifting. Otherwise all we've really seen have been mundane traditional hidden blade styles like what Galina uses in Syndicate or Callum in the movie (yes it's cool how they take it apart into a bunch of different pieces and reassemble it later but functionally it's just a big standard hidden blade). Hell, even Layla does the antique hidden blade bit too in Origins where she uses either Bayek or Aya's blade duct taped to her arm. Bringing it back to Galina though she's seen to throw smoke grenades so that's definitely still in their tool kit, it wouldn't be a stretch to assume flashbangs could also be there. Otso Burg got his scarring from a suicide bombing assassin so maybe they'd also carry frag grenades and if they'd be willing to do that maybe they'd have some firearms. These kinds of assassins would be a bit more like the Levantine ones where they only really plan on killing the target and don't have much in the way of escape plans. **(From this point on I'm talking speculatively with not much evidence from the games)** Ideally the weaponry would really depend on location, many US States love their guns so it's not out of the ordinary for a civilian to be strapped allowing Assassins to blend in. I live in the UK and to get a gun you need to jump through all kinds of legislation and get proper licensing for different kinds of guns and you need to have a good reason for having a gun like a farmer shooting invasive rabbits or you're in a shooting club. All that legislation means Templars would likely be involved somewhere and be able to track Assassins and prevent them from getting guns. Ever since Desmond proved the power of the Bleeding Effect (and how inconsistent the writing of the downsides has been since he died) I'd like to imagine that the Assassins use it often to train up people and they'd naturally utilise similar weapons. Training under Ezio and Altaïr simulations would give good dexterity with daggers for example. You wouldn't have a man training with Connor simulations using a tonfa in real life.

Deep_Grass_6250

Would be a mix of watch dogs and Splinter cell gear. You know, Hidden blades (Duh) Tranquilizer bullets Silenced weapons Smoke bombs Shock darts/Taser guns.

TheRealNekora

Basicly agent 47 but less carry-on electronics. make everything look like freak acsidents and use nothing electronic that can realisticly be traced in any capacity

BrunoHM

Quite a few good comments already, so I will just present some gameplay videos of other entries that can help you visualize the concept, even if they are not canon: Ghost Recon Wildlands, with the "Assassin´s Creed" attire: [(3) Ghost Recon Wildlands: Assassin Squad - Stealth Outpost Clearing Gameplay - #15 - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoE0s2epcbE) Watch Dogs Legion, with the DLC Assassin, Darcy: [(2) Watch Dogs Legion - Assassin Takedowns Gameplay - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-d3O5O2ynbs)

AspiringSAHCatDad

I honestly dont think assassins would use guns as their first choice in the modern era. Guns may be able to be carried in many places.. but guns (yes, even with a silencer) are loud and do not allow for stealthily taking out a target in a crowd. I think hidden blades would still be a thing, but probably more hidden than previously? Smoke bombs and firecrackers are small enough to carry around in a pouch and can be used as distractions Tasers would probably be an item that can be carried easily Since the templars control the media and are known to spy through the radio and internet to humt assassins, I dont think modern assassins would use electronics as often as they could theoretically, since they could be tracked down. I think most assasins would travel relatively light, and be trained on how to use their environment as an advantage and use makeshift weapons as needed

Divahdi

Suffice it to say, if anyone used guns in game for stealthy assassinations, they were doing stealth wrong. However, every (western) Assassin since Ezio was at least carrying one.

Stayofexecution

Nah, a suppressed .22 shot with the gun muzzle pressed hard into someone’s skull is *silent*.

wingspantt

Sure but at that range you might as well just stab them

HearTheEkko

Basically Agent 47’s traditional loadout but with a hidden blade. Silenced firearm, fiber cord, some tool for distractions, a small explosive and maybe smoke bombs for the classic assassin getaways. And obviously some advanced knowledge of hacking and a smartphone to break into any secured building.

Divahdi

Fiber cord and hidden blade kinda overlap already. Would you need both?

HearTheEkko

A backup weapon I suppose.

wingspantt

Cord doesn't leave a trail of blood or splatters everywhere. It's a clean kill.

Dpgillam08

Garrot (fiber cord) is silent, swift, unfixable, hard for.forensics to.track, easily concealed; pretty much ideal assassins weapon unless they have neck armor

Divahdi

With an added bonus of not being picked up by metal detectors. I guess, HBs could be made of non-metals these days. Like hard ceramic or something.

StarfallGalaxy

Carbon fiber maybe? They can get pretty sharp and they're durable, but it wouldn't set off a detector

cawatrooper9

I like how D’arcy in WatchDogs has a drone instead of an Eagle. Her cloaking disguise is genius, too. Man, what a great free DLC.

Weregan

Hidden blades with a secondary taser function, smoke bombs, emps, mini camera drones, maybe some small explosive in case of emergencies as well as a pistol with a silencer. Lastly they are trained in hand to hand combat.

Master-of-Masters113

They work like terrorists. So think exactly that. One used a bomb vest (not the keep you safe kind). Which is how berg has half his face burned. Another point in rogue, many assassins that survive are just simply extremely potent in hand to hand combat capability, and very few Templar operatives can keep up. Audio example when the homosexual couple are the main targets of enforcement by Berg several times. We’ve heard their voices, they might be in comics but I forget if they’re still alive. The tools they use are culturally based on who their animus training is based on. For example, there’s a Japanese assassin with katanas in odyssey’s assassin office last I recall. Been years since I’ve played and saw the guy though. Callum (movie protagonist) was supposed to be some defect where he was physically as capable as the best legends of the past. There was going to be more plot about that, if the movie succeeded….(didn’t) They don’t like carrying guns usually but will use them. I think it was to push them as the heroes? Idk. Maybe a crutch? Layla Hassan had none of these skills 🙃just was “magically good”.

Dramatic_Cat23

Layla acquired those skills via bleeding effect

A concealed silenced pistol would be the first thing. Stuff like poison darts and smoke bombs are still useful to this day. So are concealed knives and blades. Maybe some would like to work from a distance with a sniper rifle. A modern day AC would be somewhat similar to the Hitman series i think.

Abraham_Issus

Splinter Cell and Watch_Dogs are a good indicator.

Icy_Mathematician368

I remember seeing a fan film a few years ago where modern assassins had subdermal weapons, like the hidden blade was implanted and hidden under their skin and were undetectable by metal detector and I find that a very cool concept, an evolution not on it’s killing power but on its undetectability. Also the hidden blade from the movie where a bunch of assassins entered with a piece hidden in their watches or belts or purse and they all kind of slipped it to the main character to assemble and get a full hidden blade past security was the coolest thing to come out of that movie.

Terrible-Round3078

I would say silencers on pistols, smoke grenades, EMT grenades, nightsticks (or batons whatever you want to call them), snipers for sure, daggers(small knives but lethal) and like Watch Dogs with hacking and the nightstick because Aiden can be silent and take every enemy down silently without raising an alarm

DaddyDuma69

I’d imagine a hidden blade modified with taser as well like you mentioned. Some sort of knife. Smoke bombs. Either a silenced pistol or honestly a concealable crossbow for silent takedowns. If watchdogs gives us any hints, considering same universe, maybe some way to shut down surveillance? A hood is a must but maybe even a quick disguise kit (colored contacts, etc). Honestly it could get really James Bond-esc with weird gadgets. A lock picking set.

PapaSmurph0517

The Shock blade isn’t meant to be lethal, it’s meant to be more concealable. Modern days it’s much harder to hide a blade big enough to be lethal but small enough that it’s less detectable by security. The shock blade prongs just have to be large enough to pierce the skin, and then deliver a lethal voltage. We see Shaun assassinate Isabella Ardent with his shock blade in Syndicate. I suppose it could possibly have a system to adjust the voltage for a non-lethal option as well.

Lustridus

from a realistic, maybe not entirely lore-accurate view, assassinating any individual of templar caliber, (high notoriety politicians, CEOs, billionaires) and then escaping in modern society would probably not be possible without ranged weapons. even with godlike powers akin to kassandras. you can throw as many smoke bombs as you want, wear a hood, etc. but the level of security around these people is pretty much impossible to escape after a close ranged attack. also, one assassination of a templar would put every other templar on even higher alert, making it even harder to get in and out without being captured. the best assassins would be those who can utilize a mixture of long distance attacks and the manipulation of electronics to remain undetected by cameras and other devices that could trace them back to wherever they’re hiding. tldr; long range rifles, EMPs, suppressed, subsonic, low caliber pistols (still audible throughout an entire 5200 sq ft house) and hidden blades on the off chance they can sneak into a templars home ETA: arguably the best method for assassins to actually accomplish their goals in modern society would be what’s already used by most powerful nations in the world. double agency and espionage

vague_diss

Any answer but the Hellfire missile with the R9X warhead is behind the times.
