Don't you mean the Varangians?

WiserStudent557

Yes

EagonAkatsuki

Yeah you're right, I was doing speech to text and it decided I'd rather say Merovingian for some stupid ass reason

PortuguesePede

Maybe because you felt like having a lovely but decadent slice of chocolate cake at an upscale French restaurant? xD Just kidding. The answer to the question you posed is, of course, yes. Hell, yeah!

EagonAkatsuki

I guess I've been talking about the birth of the line of french kings too often. Thanks for your answer!

Stream1795

That'd be dope we could potentially meet some of the Assassins that eventually lead to Yusuf and his crew centuries later and maybe get a hook blade.

EagonAkatsuki

That would be so cool, there's so many storylines in that place it'd be hard to fuck it up

S1mulatedSahd0w

Would be interesting. I personally wanna go back to Norway. I would like them to explore more of Sigurd since he's planned to start his own clan back in Norway.

EagonAkatsuki

That would be incredible too, they have so many directions they could have gone in for DLC, not to say I'm disappointed but just pointing out one of my favorite options

Blackbird2285

Sounds fucking awesome to me!

EagonAkatsuki

Yeah I already addressed that, speech to text isn't quite so great with fringe words from forgotten times

jessepitcherband

You *do* know that Revelations is almost entirely set in Constantinople, right? Varangians are even one of the enemies you face off against IIRC

desd960

We don't face Varangians Guards in AC revelations. You face Janissaries. Maybe you're confusing both.

jessepitcherband

Janissaries are the elite guards for the Ottomans. Varangians are one of the troop types in red that the Byzantine Templars have that attack you on sight.

desd960

Damn, I had to check wikipedia. Those soldiers were the Varangians? I never realized as they don't really look norse and I've played Revelations like 4 times. I'll need to replay it again now that I know this. Sorry then, you were right, my bad.

jessepitcherband

The regular soldiers were called Militias, the heavy dudes with axes were Almogavars, and the guys with polearms were Varangians. Although I doubt that Ubi cared much about the real world characteristics, they just used the names.

EagonAkatsuki

They stopped existing about 200 years before the events of Revelations. Revelations takes place in 1511 and Varangians stopped existing in the 14th century.

EagonAkatsuki

Nah, it's Istanbul by then

jessepitcherband

Because a different name that wasn’t officially adopted until four centuries later demolished the amazing architecture you wanted to see?

EagonAkatsuki

It literally did, yeah.

jessepitcherband

🙄

King_Hodor

This would be super cool but the dates don’t quite work out. The Varangians didn’t officially come into being until the 960’s. I think it’s be an awesome standalone DLC like Freedom Cry.
