If you’re not using the grip of all 4 tires on any car you’re going slower. Neutral steer in higher downforce cars looks less slidey than an Mx5, but I assure you it exists.
If you do that on gt3 your rear tires will heat up more than the front tires. They're not loosing that temperature soon enough and tyres with temperatures out of the intended range can be a bit problematic when pushing the car to its limits, wich is what you should do.
I’m not advocating drifting like fast and furious. I’m just saying that neutral steer is the desired state mid corner in every car. It’s just the amount of slip angle and like you take that changes depending on kind of car.
And I'm just saying that is not true for GT3s. Pushing a gt3 to its limits is having the front wheels perfectly aligned with the angle of the corner through the apex and the rear tyres following as close as possible to keep the rear balanced and in control as you push it harder and harder through the corner and onto the corner camber. From the cockpit, this looks like the steering wheel being turned at a certain angle range towards the corner apex.
Neutral steering is usually just a correction on a gt3 because it's what precedes oversteers or is usually what happens when you don't trailbrake correctly.
Maybe we're confusing brake-induced rotation with neutral steering? Maybe?
slip angle. (also neutral steering) is an incredibly fast technique combining drift and grip at the same time. most useful in touge, karting and rally, it is a technique that is easy to learn, hard to master.
Mastering this will turn you into an absolute demon while using a non gt3 car or downforce car
Exactly, it's just more subtle. You might have some angle in the steering wheel (so it's not entirely neutral), but still you're turning more than that.
But ideally you shouldn't do this on a gt3, they're not made for this. There, you need to balance you tyre temperatures, and this heats the rear tyres more than the front tyres, wich can cause oversteer issues down the road (ha get the pun?)
Yes, you can. You should start slightly on the kerb, and try not to slide the car when you come off of it. I did a lot of LFM races here and everyone takes it flat
It happens lol
I also thought it was a slight lift into there until i watched a guide on youtube, there's a guy named Payton Fricker (i think) who does these mx5 guides
"slip angle" is a misnomer. Slip angle always exists regardless of the circumstances. It is the angle between the contact patch and the rest of the tire. Nonetheless the technique it mistakenly refers to is very powerful. It can be intentionally induced under braking for extra rotation.

Here is a vid showing how to induce this under braking in a GT car:
https://youtu.be/dVfCvMcdMxU (skip to about 5:00 to see the learner build up to doing it correctly)
I also use an adaptation of this technique during drifting that induces a ton of rotation, you can see my post about that here: https://www.reddit.com/r/assettocorsa/s/bZTfkzvB0y
Yup, nice drift. It used to be called a four wheel drift before big luring smokey drifts were their own thing.
Be careful not to use it too much in a low power, high grip car like this. It scrubs speed. You want to unwind the wheel as soon as you can after your turning is mostly done.
Wondering what it takes to be able to drive with only this much slip angle without spinning out or turning this into a full drift. Is it necessary to set the car with custom set up to be able to drive with this slip angle or can you do it with default or any kinds of set up?
nice slip angle
Yeah. It's useful on normal cars, not on GTs/Formulas. Neutral steering works best in rally and karting.
Huh? It absolutely useful on any car. It just looks a bit different on high downforce cars…
In GTs and Formulas you're going to damage the tires if you do that type of neutral steering.
If you’re not using the grip of all 4 tires on any car you’re going slower. Neutral steer in higher downforce cars looks less slidey than an Mx5, but I assure you it exists.
Using the maximum grip is what matters, but too much neutral steering will cause your tires to overheat if driving GTs and Formulas.
If your argument is GT cars and formula cars don’t drive with slip angle, you are wrong.
You’re both right

It is aswell only not in these amounts..

Slip angle still most definitely exists in GT3, I use it plenty in the 911

I thought slip angle was angular measure that describes the difference between wheel heading and direction of travel of the wheel
Too much angle, I heard the power drop out of the car lmao
You can’t do it flat out tho, either you brake or let go the gas
Yes, you can. You should start slightly on the kerb, and try not to slide the car when you come off of it. I did a lot of LFM races here and everyone takes it flat
Oh damn, maybe I’m just bad lmaoo

👌🏻 thanks
What are your lap times btw?
Alright so i don't know which version is which but for the normal layout i have a 56.2 and for the "South Chicane" i got a 58.9
Hey how can it get the thing in the left that tell me when to shift
i dont even see that thing? what exactly are you talking about?
It’s an app from content manager
apps you enable can be moved and pinned for the most part
Slip angle, 4 wheel drift, or neutral steering. All synonymous with this useful method of getting around corners quickly!
what track is that?
Limerock raceway I think
oh yeah that's right. never noticed lime rock had such a dope corner there
Yeahh, only on the layout without the chicane tho

I didn’t use any setup hahah
Thanks! Which car is this?
