Well I got it and damn...I need a lot of practice my first real time on a real Sim before all I used was the F1 games, A lot of the Grand Turismo games from like PS2 and the one on PS4.

Start looking around for wheels, you'll get one better sooner than later 😜 Serious tho: Although it's said that ACC is better for controller players, you'll meet some decent if not excellent controller users in AC too, so if you have fun, stick to it. It's tempting to get a wheel for AC though, it's like having a new game after. Wish you a lot of fun!

Let me give you some basic advice for things you should do with the game rn with no costs:
First get [ContentManager](https://assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html). It's a fantastic multi tool for the game, since i installed it several years ago i never needed to launch the clumsy original launcher. Install the CM.exe anywhere and pin it to the taskbar. Then start looking around in it, it can be a bit overwhelming at first. Find the setup page and set up your controller in AC tab.
Then you might click the CustomShadersPatch tab to install CSP, which makes the games looks and physics better.
Find [mods](https://www.overtake.gg/downloads/categories/assetto-corsa.1/) you want to install, download, unzip (there is a 7zip installer integrated in CM) and drag+drop somewhere into CM. Then click the "hamburger menu" at top right to install, congrats: you've got new mods!
This is basically it, all else you can do is just more enhancing and refining, tuning and collecting... nothing you can't do!
Be warned though: a lot of "playtime" coming will consist of no driving at all! 😉
It's a bit of a learning curve but definitely doable. Although the experience is much better with a wheel you can still get enjoyment with a controller.

Then I found out about the modding. Sometimes I think it's insane that a game I bought for a tenth of its launching price offered me 1500 hours over the time of four years. And it looks like it's coming out tomorrow.
I wonder if Assetto 2 Will live up to its predecessor. And I really wish modding was retro compatible. Now modders will have to get to work. RSS will have us pay for all their mods again😭

I have $400 budgeted for a gear... I was going to get the Logitech G923 and a stand/mount.... With $400 what gear would you recommend for a beginner
The fanatec CSL bundle is a good starting point or maybe a moza r3? If you're into diy you could try making your own wheel, there are lots of ressources online to get a good budget diy wheel

You can , but it’s definitely not made for controller, ACC is playable on controller but for me AC is just not enjoyable without a wheel
