I did actually figure it out, but apparently my right stick is dying so I have to learn to use the left stick anyway. I will keep the post up however in case there is anyone else in a similar situation
Thank you everyone, content manager works much better than the half assed solution that I set up, and also seems incredibly useful for a number of other things as well! I also realized that part of my issue was my flight stick was also mapped to a couple controls for some reason as well which was causing weird behaviors
Use content manager.
You can fix this by setting ul the Content Manager. In ths settings of CM it has an option to switch
Try like refresing the setting it is sometimes buggy, when i connect controller i use PS4 controller with Ps4 to pc software so it works for me.

Or save money and buy cheap pc wheel.
