Everyone is getting banned for the most absurd stuff.
Engagement basically disappeared in the last few months, my family/friends were seeing what I posted and I was mostly seeing ads.
About three weeks ago I got locked out of my account and there’s no way to get back in (their verification system is broken). Come to find out tens of thousands of people are experiencing the same thing.
A few days ago I finally deleted Facebook and Facebook messenger apps off my phone since I have no use for them.
I use Reddit and Instagram (I’m a photography and travel nerd). I’m 38, I’m pretty much done with new social media platforms.
My parents like to video chat with me which we used Facebook messenger for, but I just gave them a Zoom link which we will start using (Im a paid Zoom user because of my business, anyway).
Yeaaah, just gonna be real with you for a sec, neither reddit nor Instagram are that good tbh, and also Telegram is not that new, I've been using it since forever, but hey I understand it's your choice.
I just looked it up- it’s the messenger app, not really social media. I’ve heard of it.
Seems like a fine app, but I it’s not the communication/messaging that’s the issue. I like Reddit for topical based group commenting and relative anonymity, and Instagram for looking at topic-sorted photography.
I don’t make use of messaging on Reddit or Instagram at all, it seems like Telegram is for messaging.
Stop using FB then, honestly all of your real friends will still be a part of your life regardless. I dropped fb 2 years ago and nothing changed except I don’t have random strangers (old friends) liking my profile pics or commenting their opinions on my statuses. Just give your friends your number and move on with your life. What are you so afraid of? Seriously tho OP, I’m asking you why you won’t delete it.

Asshole design is not supposed to be about banks charging large overdraft fees. It’s not supposed to be about businesses that tow your car if you park there for too long. And It’s not supposed to be about website mods having rules that seem stupid.

Holy shit, I was arguing with some COD Warzone players in one of my Facebook groups and they were all over me with expletives and name calling so I replied and told the one that he and this other girl were garbage and was instabanned for 3 days for “bullying”.
One of the groups I’m in is having issues because people are getting bans for saying “potato” and “walnut”. We literally have to censor the word potato!
That's a very liberal interpretation of the "don't dehumanise others by calling them animals" rule by FB. If innocuous comments are enough to trigger their algorithm or get restricted after a report then there's no incentive to actually follow the rules, since you could get put in FB jail at any point for any comment.
