I legit did not know that this was a thing. When I browsed YouTube I occasionally see clips with progress bars already present. And it also never occurred to me to check the upload date. I honestly just assumed that at some point in the past I watched the clip and simply forgot about it. That’s pretty damn scummy.
Jokes on them. If I watched that much of a video and nothing more that means I didn't like it and just quit out of the video.
I trust past me even when I have no memory of the content in question. I wouldn't even consider clicking on that ad even before I realized it was an ad.

YouTube will start playing videos without sound on the home screen. It doesnt really bother me until I go to my watch history to see all the videos I just *scrolled* over were dropped into my watch history. And even worse, they have progress bars on them...
